A new roundabout
On the edge of town
Ten new shops to enliven their frowns

Costa Coffee or a Starbucks to entice the local folk
But where did it come from as built in a flash
As just yesterday it was but a local gap

McDonalds, B&M along with a Home Sense
No builders on scene as they are erected overnight
The real trades of the world now taken over by factory plight

Lets build, let's shop as their skills now no longer needed
Prefabbed in a factory somewhere downtown where these are now all seeded

As we don't care as long as the shopper is well catered for
Making our millions along with the rest
We see the dollar as our new friend and the internet our second best

For we also love the pound as we are the megabuck rich
In another life we were really all just ******
Loving the life of a millionaire with the tradesmen now feeling just broke and sore

If hell hath no fury like a woman scorned then trades are next in line
For we see our money as the devil incarnate
And this time round we really could not wait

The world is spinning into a colossal whirlwind of desire and scorn
Our allegiances are narrowly sewn into paper now easily torn
As it doesn't matter what you are taught its to whom you are now to born

Money makes the world go round as it was also Prefab made
He has a million others all spinning around
For we are all some Gods slave

See you next Tuesday
A lot of people don't get an acronym
But some people are not as stupid as him
And to let me down on a daily basis is not an excuse to know the days of the week
But not to acknowledge isn't a skill I'd like seek
To be thick and I don't mean in the uneducated sense
Is not a trait I want, let's not sit on the fence
So please, get this pal,
See you next Tuesday

The Kings Peach
14 years under Tories rule
Cameron to Sunak with Johnson the bumbling fool
But now ruled by the Labour lot,
with waters promised much calmer
Raynor now craps the whip,
With her puppy dog, Sir Kier Starmer
A visit to King Charlie now head of the throne
His head now adorning stamps,
Soon on cash and any bank loan
But his real reason for this trip is to prepare for the King's speech
As we now have a fruitcake in charge with more faces than most,
Gentlemen and Squires, Lords and Ladies,
I give you,
The King's Peach 🍑

Rude in Richness
Money means no manners when it comes to lifetime matters
Cake slice, some tea, drank with a China Pennyroyal cup
Yet still finds the audacity to leave the toilet seat left up
Not even a lift of the finger when let go at a turn
Just screeches off, no cares in the world, as those Lamborghini tyres burn
A click of the finger to summon the passing waitress
Casually dressed at his father's wake, not even his Sunday best
The wife scurries around, a family day out, trying to keep order to their brood
As he just sits back, glass of wine in hand, wallowing in richness he doesn't even find rude...
Cheers! 🥂

It's hard to find a word that rhymes with the legend that is, Ron Burgandy
As that man lives a different life,
with his own selective philosophy
Men have a bigger brain than women,
And that is fact
But if you want to fight the News Team,
then watch them **** well react
Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champion "Champ" Kind,
They'll kick your *** and leave you with a sore behind
London Gentleman or Black Beards Delight
Those ladies deserve best, over which they'll probably fight
As these guys only wear the best, lets not be that chancer
It works 60% of the time, all the time, hell yeah, *** Panther
To sway these guys from the top, up steps Veronica Corningstone
Knowing how to rule the roost, and knock Ron from his thrown
Because, San Diego is a city that can only have one news team,
being proud of America's red, white and blue
And if you don't believe me, well, I will fight you...and thats no lie

The world is a machine
Everyday running on human tasks
7 billion of us just the same
All wearing our Covid masks
It judder's to a start when we first arise
We stretch
We yawn
And work until its time for beddybyes
Now if that one person tells you they're not
A part of this operation all working as one
Then my friend they cannot see,
That they are its final component
In this megalithic device
For they are just,

Modern World
Sometimes I just don't fit in
As I shake my head and leave it to next of kin
A new world order where we all obey the rules
Preferring the good days when Britania was seen as cool
A ***** joke was laughed and not thought twice
When we didn't have to think before adding a touch of spice
But now we cannot offend without upsetting the faint and the WOKE
Was it something I said? something I dreamt.
Oh, to extinguish this 'woe be me' smoke
Wear a mini skirt and have a flirt
Wiggle those hips and do your shirk
It's no danger to those who can't keep pace
They'd only ***** about you behind your face
For its all coming back again when it really mattered
To be told you look nice and to feel a little flattered
As the modern world can adapt to the past
It's just a case of perseverance to make the good times last

First
John Bartholomew Feb 2020
He was the first to score a hatrick on the newest astroturf pitch
He was the first on his new BMX to jump that ***** ditch
He  was the first to kiss the best looking girl in the school
He was the first that all kids thought he was cool

She was the first to have the Rainbow Collection of My Little Pony
She was the first to lend me her toys as mine were all phoney
She was the first to be picked for the school netball team
She was the first to date the boy on the bike we all thought was a dream

Looking back they deserved each other as they were the first to be divorced
A love so pictured, so fragile, it was almost movie scored
So no to be the first to everything in sight
I'm happy in my own little world just taking my own flight

From first to last, nothing will be remembered in the past

Nursery Folk
We obviously know our child is the best
As they roll out the minions all known as the rest
Either waving hello or goodbye on their daily arrange
As renting them out to others always feels slightly strange
But it's how we get by on the monthly wage
Every parent wanting the daily rundown
What foods did they eat and a list of frowns
How many wee's and hows many twos
A polite way of asking if they had even done a poo
As you park up eying all the other cars
What job do they do
I wonder what they earn
The gossip whilst waiting with so much to pry and learn
Some you smile with as you secretly suss them out
Do they know so-and-so who is married to the pub lout
Some of the stories you hear whilst waiting for your child
Village gossip when its hot and sometimes slightly mild
When nursery is done onto the next you'll miss this daily chatter
As long as your kid is healthy and strong,
then thats all that really matters

Drinking coffee underwater,
It don't taste like it ought ta

Now running low on salt and pepper,
Not allowed out until someone lets her

Waiting for the lawman to fire that starting gun,
Locked inside to make our own fun

In 9 months we really could have a baby boom,
Locked together for 12 weeks, stuck in the same room

Nothing on the telly that can resemble a decent sport,
The kids at home now all being self taught

Lets get over this blip and laugh it off in due time,
As most of us will live, with just the unfortunate that die

People in the aisles all fighting over soap and bog rolls,
Who ever thought a dump would take its toll

But come on people, it's not hard to stay inside,
Batten down the hatches on a scale called nationwide

We'll all have stories to tell on how we survived,
Now let's all just get our heads down and stay alive!

They will never be your friend
Could be making millions
If followed the ongoing trend
Sunning off the coast with champagne and a toast
Surrounded by fools who turn up for any personal boast
As you will always be my friend whose lessons I have learnt
Just thrown to the passing crowd for I always do,
Watch them all fritter,
Tastleless,
Ruthless,
Bitter,

Nobody is ill
Nobody has died
Nobody has spoken of bad

But something is missing

Something just isn't right
Something is wondering tonight
Something is hovering like a kite

In that gut reaction

Pulling at you like traction
Pulling apart those mathematical fractions
Pulling at those grey cells for a little sanction

But there its sat lingering

Just toying and tinkering
Just hanging on out of the sinking
Just leaving you lost and still wondering

That horrible feeling

Thats Just Life
Welcome to my life, always stuck on tedium
Every day, the same consistent grill setting, medium
The same hellos, goodbyes, and the taxman who we'll always be feeding them
Easter will be coming soon, chocolate already on the shelves
Christmas now been and gone, what do Santas helpers now do,
are they still known as elves?
Have a little dance, a little drink, even a swagger to the cheeky girls, (go on then, touch my ***)
Then that hangover tomorrow, carries on like a 3 day ton
Sweat it out, half hour on the x-ray bed, a cheap tan in the fake sun
Now to relax away from your life and let the bath run
As that's just it
Your life
My life
It's just life
All a bit of fun

Until that river ran dry and fresh solace we did seek

Some days that's the only place I'd rather be the most
Throwing chips to the gulls whilst sat outside with a lovely chilled beer
Not thinking what's the quickest way to Northampton from here
Or to drive west and dream over the Irish Sea
As there are other places where I'd rather be
But maybe it's just this and its stuck in my bones

I ponder the fact if I am man-made
If God lost his plans and I was part of the trade
Here you go computer brain, have a go on this
See if you can upgrade here, an upload from my GCSE brain list
You see, we download our knowing from everything we see
From TV programmes, Netflix, and the BBC
Onto our time at school and our parent's philosophy
Why study if I am DNA-made, who needs trigonometry
Then again, are my parents just an implant of imagination
Are my emotions really real, such as love and frustration
As I watch the news and the world as a nation
All governed by robots on a far away station
And to think, they'd even let me think this speculation

Another world
A place of escape
Not a second home but a place to start alone
Afresh
Astute
Atoned
Not a Government without a clue on wages or money
And not a grey suited Etonion laughing at those without their humour thinking its funny
No;
A new you, a new home, a new bloom
Watch us rise now given the elbow room
Shuffling towards a brand new boom
Imagination isn't just a crazy thought
It's putting together what we have learnt
What we've tripped through
What we've been taught
So let's imagine a better you
Carry on that thought on what we can do
And hold on to that future that really can be true

Streets now empty,
Not a soul to be seen
It's like I've woken up in a B-movie,
Or a very eerie dream

Best to stand apart now,
We've been given a 2 metre stance
I would love to give you all a hug
But I'd better not take that chance

Let's hope that it's all over,
Please let that time be soon
And hope this can't happen again,
Be it once in a blue moon

Locked in the same surroundings,
This will surely cause some rows
But look on the bright side of this mess,
We'll get through this apocalypse now

Write Off
We all have the odd car written off
But people can do the same, and mark you as a right off
Fussy down to something you said
Or a letdown in the sack on someone else's bed
A change in look or you've put on a bit of weight
Not for me anymore, as you move onto her best mate Kate
You learn a language together, first German and then French
Sacre Bleu! Mon amie, not tonight love, you can sit on the bench
You prefer your tea when she just sups her coffee
Liverpool forever and then shes a bleeding toffee
A phonecall is more personal than some random text
Message away with no response, as she clearly didnt give two fecks
So that was that and just a waste of time
As perserverance is a key even if the alley is blind
But some wanted loves were never meant to be
As I gaze from the clifftop, just watching the swirling of the sea.

Roundabout Living
John Bartholomew Sep 2022
Its not a place for the faint hearted
The joining can be a pig, even the reverse parking
But once on, life is a song
No cold calling in the middle of the night
Not a child screaming in the early hours of the school plight
Rarley a punch up from the pub as no room for a full-blown fight
The postie just raises an eye to the thought of dropping letters
I'll get one over on you and live free in a life that is much better
So the daytime traffic can be heavy if not a touch shameful
Lost 2 dogs in this weird old life and do feel slightly dreadful
Yeah its not the safest of place but it saves me a pretty pennyful
****, who am I kidding, in this tent, from old Wembley market
Should have known better when old rex finally last barked it
The TV signal is a sham as I listen to AHA with Morton Harkett
Best get back to the real world with the rats in the daily doldrums
Can always live a life of freedom between my eardrums
For this was a taster of what really can be out there
As I look again at the stars just sat in my underware
You have to live life without a ****,
a dream of wondering who really cares.

This album reminds me of another time
Before I committed the most selfish of personal crimes
Upsetting the odds and breaking up lifes timetable
To become paralysed and a whole less able
No words can explain my personal pain
To have left my loved ones in the hugest downpour of rain
Escaping on lifes support whilst oblivious in an induced coma
Such a selfish *******, yes I know
Please don't go there
For I love the people who stuck with me through each and every scene
Without you, Jeez, where would I now have been
As I now feel that one word that's sown up my loose seems,
Redeemed

Redemption is not perfection. The redeemed must realize their imperfections. - John Piper

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. - Audrey Hepburn

For he drew whatever was the scene
Of Northern towns and sometimes swings,
Of wherever he had been
The detail not always riveting like a Van Gogh or a Constable
But always on set, and you could always bet, simplicity is a sacred tool
If the stroke portrayed kindness,
And each drawing a wellness
To how we lived in other times to now

But sat on the sofa everyday
Nobody wants this fool
I'm not annoyed so much as slightly bitter
Grades up until my eyeballs
Unfortunately you just don't fit here
Was it the interview and my calm, over rehearsed, relaxed speech
Or plainly just the wheelchair
Those heights I just cannot reach
So kneel down beside me to hear my lost crude witsome banter
You should try it on stage mate
What is it, a beer or just a Fanta?
As maybe I wasn't cut out for the suit and to dress everyday tall
This is what I am now,
Different, cut to size, and to some, a little bit special
I know I will never get used to being six feet five to WHAM,

The odd bit missing but who is to care

Segmented
Dislocated
It fell apart all to easy
Blown with the wind on a day too breezy

A castle isn't made in just a day
We build
We love
We hang onto what they say

I feel I go in way to gungho
And that is why it always falls apart

Keep calm and relax

The one that changes everything
From being broke to the love of the land
Married my sweetheart
Now every stranger wants my hand
Would I leave my friends I have known for so long
Who helped me through all troubled times
To be the man they all now love just living out in Tuscon, Arizona
If those 6 numbers rolled in tonight, I'd have to make decisions
The only way I'd make that money would be with a gun,
HOLD UP! HANDS UP!
Right, thats me off to prison
But if those ***** did land in line
I'd be one happy chap
Smiling as those bells did chime
Thinking what I would buy next
That house, that car, dinner served by my own private chef
I'll watch them spin again tonight
All rolling with bated breath

Reli-gin
Okay,
so pour me another and say that again?
Billions of people believe in a myth
A tale
A story
A fear to make them scared and tense
A belief with no actual evidence
A God so different to everybody else, starting war without sitting on the fence
And you want me to believe this?
Okay,
Pour me another and say that again...

Mr Goody 2 Shoes
John Bartholomew May 2020
Not a step out of line
Your dance, your prance, your swagger
Perfection based upon your moves
This made me want to pull that trigger

Your tune
They fall to the floor from that tick
Tock-tick, tock tick
Man you make me sick

Walking past me like I don't exist
Just giving me the blues
Of course it's always you they choose
So I blew you away
Bye-bye
Over and out

Mr Goody 2 Shoes
(ha!)

Diamonds are for Trevor
John Bartholomew Dec 2020
Long since being a kid, he dismissed his parent bought toys
The Tonka truck and football, they were just for boys
He rummaged through his mums cupboard, tried on her high heels
Feeling taller and more ladylike, he loved the way they feel
Putting on lipstick once, he was bullied in the school yard
The lads all gathered round, throwing sticks and a plastic bollard
Crying in the boys toilets, not knowing what he'd done wrong
Mrs Miller came in with an arm, humming a lovely song
Gathering strength, momentum and a new face
It's a life I want to live, even if I'm now called Grace
As this is the way I want to be forever,
Yes,
Diamonds are for Trevor

The Fall-back Option
John Bartholomew Nov 2020
In life we need someone to fall back onto
But when those options are gone
With no arms that are strong
We just keep falling
'Till crowd's do mass
To honor our untimely pass
On a Sunday all crowded on the grass
I wasn't ill just sick of it all
There's only so long you can stand so tall
And I'm sorry you were my last phonecall

I still love you though,
As forever,
I now fall

Lifeless
John Bartholomew Aug 2020
Sat still, no motion
People passing by, not even a notion
A fly lands, not once but now twice
I want to move it, but maybe it was its choice
Your everyday pigeon, just given up the ghost
I wonder what it thought, this is me at my most
I'd rather sit here and let be what may be
Than dying on the top of the branch, and land from the nearest tree

Rule of 6
John Bartholomew Sep 2020
Another day, another new rule
A country being run by an Eton fool
From lockdown to lifted frowns
Deserted pubs to heaving towns
Dropping like flies to were almost over it
Now being told to go back home to wait and sit
You can meet up if you're in your sacred bubble
Womens legs as hairy as her husbands face with stubble
Now towns have broken all the rules, those stupid daft twits
So lets make up some other guff, yes, rule of six
I can meet up with mum and dad but not my sis and kids
But shop in Asda too, rubbing shoulders within the midst
This pandemic goes to show the world is run by clueless buffoons
Who will tell us next it'll be over soon,
Oh we believe you Boris,
We are seriously led by the loons.

Men Hurt Too
I have a complex history of destruction and rebuilding
A fragile take on man who often needs self healing
For I am not a castle that can take on any more wars
As many a battle I have had that needs no more scars
Alive with insults thrown at a skin that is close to breaking
Just a little love is all I need and a heart I would love to take in
For an age comes when you need no more ****** battles
A laugh, a drink with no time to think is a life on which I could settle
To watch the sun set without a thought and to live life on our pension
As time is to short to always comprimise, who needs a life sentance?
