I fell headlong into
the depths of her
captivating deep
blue eyes,

Now I'm drowning
in the endless sea of her
unquenchable expectations.
Too many needy expectations
by one mate or the other is
unfair and eventually leads
to disaster. A mutual balance
is the key. Selfish "What have
you done for me lately", just
drives people away. Men are just
as guilty of this needy hedonistic
behavior. No sexism intended..

if ever there were
gods or goddesses of desert
of the drylands
of parched earth some call home
they would be surprised to learn
                     of the miracle of
                           this Spring deluge
                                unfurling forth
                            from deep within
                        the crusty dermis
          of this sublunar territory:
          hydrangea and ***** apple flower,
          intermingling their hues
          of mauve and lilacs,
as well as the color of sky
                               blooms of the succulents
                    popping open
                    in celebratory dance
                                   in wild fuschia
                                sunray butter:
a dazzling botanic trance
          hollyhocks of magenta,
           veils of bougainvellia, too
                    sweetpea clusters
             curling in the trellis
weaving heavy-scented magic
through and through
a private orchard of lemon tree, and apple
olive and pistachio grove
One would not guess
the endless giving
of this desert treasure trove

And I feel like a goddess
              of mythology softly spun
like Demeter, or Ceres
ancient Egyptian Renenutet
my hands spread out
in the licks of gentle sun
for as spring pours forth its honey
all through this barren land
I , too reawake
and flush out all the infected,
dust-scratched sand
I welcome in
the waters of abundance,
of love, of light under stars
let new energy wash out
old poisons
my radiance spilling far
Reaching out unto the Universe,
cradling this heart
I cup the buds of blooms,
                                      of nectar
to inseminate my dark
       allowing me
to release the past
and seed within me, lit
         the atoms
of  new
               start
unfolding bit
by tender
bit

This was inspired by the NaPoWriMo 2017 prompt for Day 22 (today) , which was to write a Georgic poem, or a poem having to do with agriculture. I had never seen one and so checked the source: Virgil's Georgics. Quite fascinating, but here is my version! :)

I suppose this could also be a celebration of the Earth and its beauty! #npmearthday

And of course, musical accompaniment that helped me along:

The road to oz has been ransacked and paved over and the rabbit hole has become just another landfill of our waste and the stars can no longer lead us to neverland for Peter bought a suit and tie and the lost boys have been found in chairs behind desks with chains on their ankles and death in their stare and the rumors of Tinker Bell are just too much too bare and Alice is now working for the queen and between the two they have not enough love to share and the Rabbits missing foot didn't bring him or the Hatter anything but bad luck and caterpillars and butterflies are nothing but bones disappearing in the mist of a dream gone down with the ship anchored to a dead moon at the bottom of the sea trapped in the tear of the skull of a mermaid that never had the chance to swim before the oceans dried up and fairy tales lost the page with their heart and the magic of their soul

Silence
I know her
like the back
of my hand
an eyebrow
under a cross
of ashes
the cloud
I followed
for so long
now I listen
on lone walks
for the song
of stones
beneath the creek
I once called
home sometime
so long ago
I can't remember
why I ever listened
to her at all.
