My Dear Tree
Ioannis Mar 2014
My dear tree, far in the distance
you do not utter a word, yet you know whats best.

My dear tree, your branches aspire to reach the wisdom of the heavens,
your roots deeply embedded in the foundations of the earth.

My dear tree, far in the distance
you watch and wait, for the destruction of the world to pass,
you watch and wait for the folly of men to arise and fall.

As birds bathe in your leaves, and  winds breathe motion into your arms,
you dance a gentle sway, to remind me of the bittersweet moments of this life.

My dear tree, far in the distance
I speak to you alone here on this bench
Asking for your wisdom, asking for your providence, for your peace that has been radiantly bestowed upon you.

My dear tree, you comfort me to the end of ages,
you surpass the dimensions of time,

Your knowledge eternally cherished in my mind
your love forever dwelling in my heart.

My dear tree,
you are the joy of this world.
