ripples of love
touched my heart's shore
and there they stayed
forever more

twas a delight
they did remain
divine feelings
of security

the ripples
concourse through my body
with an enduring
quality

love rippling
so deep within
love rippling
in every pore of my skin
love upon my shore
love rippling
store on store

the conjunction of feelings
you bring so strong
they'll ever
linger on

I'm dressed in blue and green today,
the colors of the mighty sea;
the color of the earth and sky,
flow in my veins through me.

Bicyclists climb distant hills,
'neath clouds of silver-grey:
bright dots among the landscape,
pedaling their hearts away.

I've never seen the grass this high,
nor so many shrubs in bloom;
Queen Anne's lace, lupine flowers,
dance in a breezy tune.

The monsoon rains have come,
with all it's frightful power;
with hard and driving force,
instead of just a shower.

Half a year's total comes quite fast,
flash flooding in dry creeks;
but nothing escapes water,
as it's own level it soon seeks.

Then the sun regains its throne,
once more, the sunny reign;
dispelling all dark clouds,
over shadowed plain.
a germ has infected
the Hello Poetry site
it is much worse
than a mosquito's bite

fast spreading
is its very nasty spores
in the layers of dermis
one sees its grubby paws

quarantining the place
is a massive task
as the germ has escaped
from its insecure flask

precautions must be taken
by all members here
remember to pop on
your safety gear

you'll all be wanting
to be informed of scourge
which at this site
has been having a splurge

the plagiarizing bug
is omnipresent be forewarned
and those who've been at it
should be well scorned
around the garden
a dainty blue butterfly
did pirouette all day
the story of the Colossus
is epic in dimension and size
to narrate it would require
an endless sunrise

enamored with his poetic skills
we all most certainly are
his radiant abilities shine
brighter than the evening star

the page comes to life
as we so attentively read
his phrases and figures of speech
are of the finest creed

the awesomeness
of his poetry doth so inspire
with a wordage pool
that sets our hearts on fire

his quill's ink ne'er partakes of rest
for there is much he hath need to say
at his desk he labors on a stanza
to so sublimely and excellently array

marvelous, exemplary, outstanding
all of these superlatives and more
tells us of the rare prowess and style
the Colossus hath in spades galore
echoes
of a love past
reverberate
in his heart
in the empty corridors
of his melancholic mind
he reflects
on the silent
void she left behind
of days when their
love did chime and peal
bereft his soul
is of her tender feel
in his hands he held a piece of rock
within it lay a diamond of beauty
he pined to extract her from the ore
for he so wished to polish her perfections
yet she wouldn't be easily coaxed
out of her mother load of material

he pondered long
over the gem so exquisite
how he yearned to see her facets
gleaming for him
but she was embedded and unreachable
there she lay within the rough mantle of the ore

ne'er could she be his to hold
ne'er could he feel her heart
palpating along side his
his hopes were dashed
his longing would remain
the lovely diamond staying
within the rock's grain
servicemen ingested the wrath, leaching through unsuspecting bodies
in a time capsule it sat in idleness, waiting to affect their aged bodies

no safeguards were in place, the testing went on without accountability
the red dust of the outback irradiated, protective cladding not on bodies

years later cancers were reported, nuclear particles ratcheting up
damaging the organs and bones, in frail manner were their bodies

a mushroom cloud hung low, the aftermath of British testing
the servicemen but lab rats, no one had regard for these bodies

friendly fire came to Australia, back in the nineteen fifties
Maralinga a tragedy in the making, its dire fallout stayed in bodies

And still I dream of stepping back into yesterday
Where time flowed so freely golden with serenity
We would sit in pine scented grove and sip lemonade
Our talk tranquil as sun dappled creek murmuring in quiet wood
Never arguing or complaining but flooded with blissful reverie
A time bygone and peaceful, learning to know each other again
Listening to the background symphony of cicadas and katydids
Poignantly nostalgic with yearnings of bygone days
Watching velvety dusk deepen into shades of whispering night
Relishing each breeze laden with moss and murmuring pine
Anticipating the dawn awakened by drowsy robins and wood thrush
Skies east to west stained with strawberry hues and dreams renewed
And still I shall dream on

I once met a leaf of a brilliant green
Waving at me as I walked to the gate
I wanted to stop and chat for a while
But didn’t have time, it was getting late

Springtime had passed, summer was blazing
There was that leaf looking wilted and tired
I wanted to stop and chat for a while
Heading to work, didn’t want to get fired

Autumn had come, the weather much cooler
That little green leaf was beginning to change
I wanted to stop and chat for a while
But a meeting was coming I had to arrange

Winter was here with a blustery welcome
I noticed the leaf on the ground in a pile
I said, “Sorry Joe, it was so nice to meet you”
Maybe next spring we can chat for a while
No, I'm not young, but I am a big kid.  :)
