You know, I almost called the other night.
Almost.
I’d like to think that
you would’ve almost picked up,
and I would’ve almost said something.
It’s a good thing I’ve almost lost your number;
I could get lonely someday
and forget that you almost wanted to stay.
I forget a lot nowadays.
I almost called the other night, you know.
But I’ve learned that “almost”
only counts in “I love you’s”
and “goodbye’s”.
Maybe I’ll almost sleep tonight.
It’s strange that I keep dreaming
about the night we walked around the city.
I always end up on the park bench
by your house,
waiting.
I’ve almost stopped wishing you’d show up.
It is in the blood of the soldier
In the words of the peaceful protester
In the ever flowing wounds of the martyr

In the actions of one standing against tyranny
In the hope of one facing down the majority
In the one who fights for the right of diversity

It is the one who heals when everyone is wounding
The one who stands when everyone is breaking
The one who accepted steel in his flesh
for the soul of his beloved
The one who carried the weight
Of our deaths on his back
The one who loved us till he breathed his last.
Little girl
Is your sky still whole
Still held together by the stories you are told
Can you still see without boundaries
Gaze at the horizon and claim it as yours
Gather the stars and call it your kingdom
There will come a day
When the slumbering dragon awakes
And steals you away
Your nights will burn and your sky will break
But don't you worry
For with every dragon comes a knight in shining armor
Footprints

I saw footprints in the snow
I had to follow where they go
Tip toe'd in every step
To keep my feet from getting wet

Over Hilltops, through valleys
And forests of pine
I traveled and traveled
Snow blind to time

When the footsteps ended
It was once again spring
I traveled the world
and hadn't seen a thing

Stranded by the shores
of vast oceans blue
With very little hope
and nothing to do

Except watch pirates
catch mermaids
With lassos of gold
And dolphins tell stories
Of days of old

As all seemed lost
What did I see
That sent a wave of hope
Crashing over me

I saw footprints in the sand.....

Your name gave me hope, because it was something new.
But sadly I already can see what you're going to do.
You promise that you're different, but I could argue back.
That you stabbed me in the heart, and watched it rot to black.

You're just like all the others, so why should I even care?
Changing your appearance like the color of your hair.
I'm the loser at the bar with his eyes glued to the phone.
In a crowd full of people, I still remain alone.

Uninspired and undesired, I wallow in my fate.
Watching the rest of the world from just behind the gate.
I'm afraid of rejection, but afraid of acceptance more.
Intimacy terrifies me, down to the very core.

You don't want your burden to drag others down,
So you hid it and try stand strong on your own.

So you created that carefree facade,
But you know it's starting to decay.

Your truth speaks within your lies,
You kept your face hidden but expose your eyes.

You tell them what they want to hear,
Because rejection is what you fear.

You seek approval so pleasing others is your focus,
But the world just seems so hopeless.

So away from everything you shunt,
Because you can't accept what's in front.

Your view is really subjective,
But that's only one perspective.

You are your own friend,
Don't let that relationship end.
I name this poem "Mirror Perspective," because everyone see themselves differently. When people look at themselves on the mirror they see their imperfections, instead of what others truly see.

Love, I see the infinite universe
in all that you are:
trillions of planets
that circle the billions of stars
among icy, white comets,
and dark, grey moons;
Nebulae, supernovae
and all their gorgeous hues;
the greens, the pinks,
the violet, orange, and blue,
in the multitude of galaxies
through outer space strewn.
Your immense gravity
draws me to you.
Darling, some might say
God's greatest work of art
is this awesome place,
but it's you and your heart.
With divine purpose,
He exploded countless stars,
eons ago,
which formed the earth where we are,
then molded you one day,
His most magnificent sculpture,
from its willing clay.
His most impressive painting:
the landscapes of your body
and soft colors brushed upon.
His most majestic song:
your enchanting voice and laugh
for which my damaged ears long.
You're the most intricate symphony;
the grandest, most striking tune
played upon the infinitesimal strings
He used to create you.

Love, just like the infinite universe,
no words can adequately describe
your vast beauty, it can only be understood
in the soul and not the mind.

Where is the smile gone
Behind a curtain it hides
Where is the pain gone
Can you not see it in their eyes
Little hands too afraid to reach out
Living in misery , they've gone numb
Can anyone tell them what its all about
They've been marked as pathetic and dumb
And they're told to hide their scars from the strangers
Or else they'll take them away
They're so scared of the night now
That they've stopped coming out in the day
Little minds fighting for innocence
There's nothing else left to fight for
Little hearts searching for answers
And confused by questions ever more
A bleak line separates them from the reality
An imagination they keep to themselves
Secrecy of the little eyes
A handful of goodbyes
But they march on like soldiers
They know that's the only way around
Pray for a little madness
And hope someday they would be found
They keep counting the stars at night
So they never forget how its like to be infinite
They light the candles of hope
That someday it shall bring them light
They look everywhere
for the man in the red suit
In the mirrors and the sand
With prayers and folded hands
As they sweat blood and tears
How much more can they bear
Insufferable thoughts haunts their dreams
Can anyone save them from these horrors unseen

Two of them stand in a dark corner
deep breath and a long pause
Is it true , one asks the other
Someone killed the Santa clause?
