Thinking
Emmennarr Dec 2018
I'm not literally little,
I'm just figuratively trying
To figure it out,
No doubt,
It's all about the timing
And finding
The whereabouts
Of each and every
Single thing
That tells me why
I'm talking loud
Or wear a crown
Even though I know
That everything
That makes me big
Comes back around
And takes me down
Another route,
Another peg,
Another step
From which I came
Because all I did
Was wander
To some land of fame
And I should just look
Where that's got me now,
Fading out
And shrinking.

Hidden
Emmennarr Apr 2017
Where did everyone hide?
Did I leave them while they hid?
Remembering lost memories hurts
I'd lost those memories for a reason
They hid
I left them behind
One comes back
Both leave me in tears

Never Stay the Same
Emmennarr May 2018
Yes
I loved you
But you never loved me too
Or at least you couldn't say
Because I wouldn't say the same
Scared for regrets or past mistakes
Cause in the end you wouldn't stay
And in the end we couldn't stay
The same
Anyway

Crying Cycle
Emmennarr Jul 2018
Tears swell on the dawn,
Set to die before the angel arrives
Because to cry in her presence
Would be a sin in the eyes of a wife;
Dawn blinks, they cease,
And tomorrow, today will repeat.

Stay
Emmennarr Apr 2017
You try to burn your bridges so the ridges don't exist
You try to make it smoother so departure's not at risk
You try to fake you're happy when your world is not in bliss
And the people here around you catch you staring at your wrist
You try to make it seem to me you think you won't be missed
And I wonder if you'd change your mind with one last broken kiss
To Jordan.

My Fault
Emmennarr Nov 2017
I'm not lovesick... just ill
But I miss her the most
That the thought of her being alone
Makes me sicker with the despair
That flutters around the loose mind of a child
As he cannot find his mother
In the mall 300 miles from home;
Home,
A place where he would way rather be
With ensured safety and love
From the woman in his life
That would be there by his side;
But for now he walks alone,
Lovesick.

Wish You'd Never Go
Emmennarr May 2018
I wish I knew what to say
When you let your mind decay
Betray the things you know
Pick the way you'd never go alone
You could always just stay home
And let that time go on its own
Treat me as your home
Treat me as your own
And know that you're never alone

Your Murderous Embrace
Emmennarr Jul 2018
I dare you.

Get lost in the metaphor
We could consider a relationship;
The upside-down rainbow
Where words escape from,
Cold at the top,
Purple, blue, green,
Yet warmest near the base,
Energy that rises in tidal waves
To eventually find the hot rays of sun
And warm hands of my embrace.

I dare you.

Feel the strangling grip
We could consider a relationship;
The inside-out skull
Where words escaped from,
Cold at the top,
Frozen, dead, seen,
Yet reddest near the base,
Hysteria that rises in tidal waves
To eventually find the rot state of mind
And cold hands of your embrace.

I dared you.

Let your fight shine like light
Through your veil of despair
To reach the air of hope;
Inhale and exhale that same feeling
So you can learn how to recover
And you can learn to remove your mask
To become who you have kept hidden.

Come out, darling, it's been so long
Since I've seen your smile, it's lovely.
I will never forget you, leave you,
Or hurt you in any way and,
As long as you're here,
I will try to prove so.

Don't let your disguise
Become who you are,
Nothing more than an empty pit
Made from the shell of a mortar
That is too overwhelming;
Fight that feeling and maybe,
One day,
We can become strong friends.

Metaphorical Reality
Emmennarr May 2017
Up to ten I hadn't known life
I hadn't known love
I hadn't breathed
And then the seas rolled in
As if I were just to learn to swim.

My parents split.
I wasn't able to explain what I felt
I didn't know what I felt
I had become numb to
The feelings I used to have.

A few years passed.
Depression isn't just for drama
It's from the stress I've endured
When someone else could have been in my place,
They wouldn't be able to feel.

I struggle to think life
Could be served on a lukewarm plate
With a side of joy
When my dish is raw; cold
And the only side is lies.

You were a shy world with
Glasses and a leather jacket
On our long, dark transit;

Your contacts had hearts attached,
Your eyes were natural
And your hair classical and tall;

You'd twiddle your thumbs on your Samsung
And ride Route A with the night,
There I sat, on the seat to the right
Looking at the little light
On our pitch black bus.
I'll never see you again, but I wish I could.

You snipped the strings of my puppetry
Let me free and claimed apologies
But never sent a response,
Never angry, no more thoughts
Emotions left you in the frost
Heart went numb and soul was lost
And I tried to save you,
Warmed you up and up you got
And left the heat that helped your cause
Snipped his strings off with your claws
Destroyed him with your deadly maw
Taking bites, fangs lined your jaw
Leaving what you never saw
Dressed in red and wrapped with dread
And left, dead and raw,
But you never said why you'd be gone.

I still await your response.

Emmennarr Feb 2018
It was among the sunset that our eyes met,
I had expected a cold blue or the green of leaves,
But instead, all that returned my glance
Was all the same as what I was used to,
A brown; not fierce nor bland nor bold,
But strange, in a sense, that it was so normal
Yet so compelling.

It has been twenty years
Since last those eyes met mine
And I often wonder
If the ghost in my shell
Might ever see
The sunset again;

Without your eyes to distract me.

Lost in your phrasing and prose,
I'm enchanted by a single symbol:

Making you precious all the more;

Yet so complex,
So you;

Timed Essay
Emmennarr Apr 2018
Upon parchment there is no cursor to blink repetitively,
Taunting the author's words out of their skull
As though awaiting a response to the empty request
Of which one should reply most delicately,
Both of thought and of hands,
But hasty one may be;

Words expected like sand dripping through an hourglass
Or silk slipping through the merchant's fingers
Though strong they may hold their grasp;
And once the threads, the grains, run out
They may then begin to feel their mind;

Yet it seems that time has already
                                                              stopped.
Emmennarr Oct 2017
I'm in love
And the love is in me
But if I let it go free
I shall truly be empty
So cautious I must be,

Or else love takes its fee
Makes a lock, keeps the key
Puts me down on one knee
Breaks me so I can't see
So cautious I must be.
She's the best but I've gotta remind myself to slow down sometimes.
