Puzzle Pieces
Emily Williams Nov 2015
You completed the scattered pieces of me like the box said ages 6+
I worked so hard to finish yours too
But it was a 1000 part puzzle that never seemed to fit just right
I found the brain
I pieced together the dark parts of your mind as they blended with the bright
I built up your whole body
And I swear I thought I had every piece
But the only one that was missing was your heart
I searched everywhere and I asked all your friends
But I saw someone else had it, and they completed you instead
You completed me from the beginning
But I never completed you

Your eyes reminded me of the stars so I bought a telescope

Your lips were pink like peonies so I bought a whole bouquet

I loved you so much that I couldn't breathe and now I need an oxygen tank

Your smile was vibrant like the sun so I soaked up its rays

The was you moved was so lithe and free so I started watching dancers

You made my heart stop and now I need a heart monitor
But yet still, all of these things won't replace you
