You were the  lightening flash,
I thundered just after,
Billowing cloud you were,
I lashed, thy rain I became.
They said " Aren't you mistaken,
the flower of your choice, has no color, just plain"
*I said with a grin, "But didn't you see? look twice then,
she is pithy and sublime, for me the mien not the skin"
Well, in India, the 'skin deep' thing is still a point of discussion..

dholak and shehnai are traditional Indian musical instruments.
Sinuous, serpent, coiled in the hole-
of the fig tree of my existence,
your power unlimited, realizes me this:
**life, at its best is a creative upsurge unbelievable,
when released after long and patient meditation, the energy
that crosses six centers, and reach the lotus, at the crown!
Kundalini, the serpent power  coiled at the base Chakra,( "Mooladhara"), below spinal column, is slowly awakened through meditation.Through spine, it rises and crosses Sacrel Chakra(swadhistana) , Solar Plexes(Mani pura),Heart Chakra(anahata),Throat Chakra(visuddi),Third eye Chakra(Ajna) and finally
Crown Chakra(Sahasrara Padma/thousand petaled lotus/Brain)
Chakras are the seven centers of consciousness, in human body, that connect with cosmic forces.
Meaning of Kundalini is this; any one has the potential to be a  'superbeing"

For days, did nothing but freak out, yelp and moan
exist with pain
Let the pop-doctor press ribs back into place
Then merciful drugs to dull the feeling, coax muscles to relax
Now I drift into sleep with little warning
during conversation, at the computer
In this state, no poetry comes through me
Today, I re-approach sanity and well being.

*How do people live with chronic pain ?
I am now beginning to see that a deeper healing can come from this, an injury which I brought on myself, through over zealous commitment to my task, needing to come to this extreme to just stop.
Finally rain comes
Rivers swell and falls cascade
Clouds cloak the mountains
And in the churning rapids
Salmon shimmer, leap and dance
Another Tanka
I lay on pine bows
Beneath a star splattered sky
And dreamt and then woke
She came to me in moonlight
Morning cast her far away
Tanka
