thick curly black hair
huge dark carnelian eyes
beautiful harpie
petite to a perfection
each curves return a wonder
her face the shape of a heart
with a tiny freckled nose
full lips all scarlet painted
this goddess from the levant
so luscious and flirtatious
a sweet ripe pomegranate
asking to be peeled
Choka

My first love
Try to separate
The wheat from the chaff of life
But don't try too hard
There was a baker
Who's output was prodigious
Cookies, pies and cakes
But because he was so rushed
A lot of them were half baked
Tanka
a cold wind blowing
snow manes on the mountains
snug in my teepee
Haiku
Moha is at the confluence of the Bridge river and Yalakom river where the Camelsfoot mountains meet the coast mountains. I camped there in the winter many years ago with a beautiful french canadian girl named Yvonne. It was 20 below weather, but the teepee was very comfortable.
fear is a monster
it destroys the intellect
and crushes the heart
it is the parent of hate
together they bring chaos
and mindless cruelty
Choka
silver moon shine down
guide my lover on the path
to my loving arms
Senryu
Fog in gray blankets
Draws thick curtains across streets
Covers the Buildings
Hides shapes and steals colour
Sirens and red lights burst through
Tanka
we stumble along
in the vast staggering herd
ready to stampede
Senryu
a child crying out
for their mother in the night
no one else will do
Senryu
Tears slipped from her eyes
And ran down her cheek's soft curves
Cozy, her child nursed
Haiku...meant encompass both happy and sad...the constant is the child supported in comfort surrounded by love
You, in long tweed coat
Spin, screaming, squirrel on chest
Nature abhors you
whirling little dreams
spining around within me
cutting through the shades
tramsmute my injured psyche
my abandoned child within
bring him from out of darkness
freed from that cold, remote place
where memories become ghosts
where part of us becomes lost
and tell him that i need him
and that i truly love him
and bring him back home
a log on the beach
trapped upon rock and sand
waiting for high tide
Senryu
As warm as summer
Your azure eyes seduced me
The night we met
I ached for you from the start
Sure I could never win you
Tanka
i would give my life
to heal you and make you whole
i love you that much
Senryu
i struggle and yearn
to walk in truth and reason
with love in my heart
Senryu
the eyes of the eyes
keepers of the inner gate
editors and chiefs
Senryu
someday i will die
my lifes' refrain now over
a sweet song now sung
but i will be satisfied
to of sung my song clearly
baring my heart and my soul
full of love, truth and freedom
until the baton is stilled
and i fall silent
Choka
When I  am with her
All is sunlight and laughter
Night falls when she leaves
Haiku
No shandy drinking
Ivory tower pedants
Will dictate to me
i try to be true
in my thoughts and emotions
i owe me that much
Senryu
whenever you are
overcome by emotion
your soul is laid bare
Senryu
Silver shafts of light
Pierce the tall and ancient grove
picking out colors
Rich greens, russets, silver greys
An elk struts through, rack held high
Tanks
pines clatter windows
a howling wind rising
the moon in hiding
Haiku
your voice in the night
a siren song waking me
chanting through the surf
beckoning and bewitching
pulling me out through the waves
deeper and deeper i slide
immersed within my obsession
i call your name futilely
then stumble and go under
drifting out to sea
Choka
Riding, grining wide
Laughing to myself again
Rolling through the night
Red light, yellow light and green
The North Shore looks full of stars
Tanka
I lay on pine bows
Beneath a star splattered sky
And dreamt and then woke
She came to me in moonlight
Morning cast her far away
Tanka
Above the black wood
A moonless, deep cobalt, vault
Filled with stellar sparks
Glowered, mute and majestic
Below, coyotes howled and yipped
Treat me like a fool
And that is what you will be
You get what you give
Haiku
he is wealthy
and a complete boor
but he has you
Senryu
Monochrome landscape
Too subtle to perceive well
Looming dark-ling shapes
Seeping nocturnal spectra
But above, stars incandesce
Tanka
no more i love you
no more i care about you
no one beside me
Senryu
a ****** Thursday
pain and horror meted out
it is time for us
to heal the wounds inflicted
and heal the wounds that led to
twisted misguided souls that
**** indiscriminately
or all too personally
raging or cold as a fly
more often armed to the teeth
a decision must be made
if not, we are doomed to have
blood on all our hands
Choka
when you hap upon
a soul laid bare and open
give it love and truth
both of them in great measure
that it may thrive and flower
on this remote paradise
our tiny wet world
Choka
a simple story
but full of strength and passion
of a parents' love
Senryu
Dead, twisted pine bough
Gray against the dark green sea
Two crows huddle there
From the cold wind, beak to beak
A red cheeked child stares, watching
heeling over
i tack hard these bitter winds
sailing alone
Senryu
Lined up at drug store
Guy in front buying chainsaw
Fear, "Instead of meds?"
Haiku
sipping gasoline
on this tar paper plain
playing with matches
Senryu
She was exquisite
sandy hair and turned up nose
a waterhouse nymph
standing infront the fireplace
in a diaphanous gown
her silhouette flickering
beckoning and calling me
it all seemed a dream
Choka
you treat the symptom
but you ignore the cause
at your own peril
Senryu
One
One
love is in my thoughts
of you and me together
right now forever
Senryu
when i was a child
i knew one thing for certain
adults don't listen
Senryu
dry curled maple leaf
scudding along the pavement
a truck rolls over
Haiku
when you are alive
it seems like forever
but when you are dead
it's like no time at all
your cultural memes
can be a barrier to
inner dialogue
Senryu
Gray fluorescent sky
Sharp, crisp, cutout horizon
Autumn colours pop
I stop, savoring the view
People hurry past, unmoved
Forget your cliches
And petty prejudices
And open your heart
Haiku
we all have our demons
but if you look closely
you will find yourself
so be gentle to them
and introduce yourself
tell them that you love them
and that you will keep them
safe and from any harm
let them know whatever
made them the way they are
is no longer around
that you are now adult
and need their special gifts
to fully live your life
ask them to give their trust
and promise to listen
and always respect them
welcome them back with love
and they will change into
angels in your life
a scrumbled lead sky
the mountains in stark relief
waiting for the rains
Haiku
