If rock concerts came first
Would churches have been needed?

                                       By Phil Roberts
the pleasing rhythm of
your life entrains my heart
gives it loft
to sail above myself   that
it may die and I become alive

this is nostos
gesture to Home
greater than

this is Illich’s dying from
Death
unconditioned
unconditional
conditioned by Love

your eurythmia sails me
over the seas of
my limits
and beyond the mountains of
my intents
a realization of the loft in my soulbones
reaching up as
Love reaches down

the two meet at the
phoenix star   a
supernova from our
supernova

Burning
Of this toast

how it is
how they usually are.

Lasting longer than I thought
And thinking lasts too long

In the centre
This i
Of this infinity
Which knows
No centre.

Rust and dust flow rivered
In time honoured ways

As if movement meant
That centres shift

And that this i,
Laughingly called,
Pretends
An only bell,
Audible to all

Unreal
She has no mirror
but where flirt the leaves with the pond
she comes in the cool of noon
mixing the dark of her hair
with the summer shade
dipping into glass green water
her toes and far above
and all the pond sees
encrypts within the bubbles of rainbow
that only her clothes
swelled in awe
can read.

Shall I let one temptation
Lead me down a road
Of which I would not travel otherwise
Rather than continue as if
It never existed at all?

Me neither.

the stones said it
**** two lips on a stick
belted it out
a Buddhist chant
almost
I can't get no satisfaction
and when I do
it is so fleeting
