Echoes in the all-one-mind
Demons swinging from the rafters
All our chimaeras combined

Rising on a feedback loop
Too recursive to recoup
Ever louder, ever dafter
Too far to recall the troops

In the all-one-mind they say
Nothing ever goes away
Here shall live foreverafter
Every web we weave today

If the Moon were always bright
On the side which faces Earth
It never would cast any light
On the rest of the Universe

But if the Moon should face the Sun
And shine its light back to the void
Then we would only see it when
Its shadow falls upon the world

If evil is
The default state
Then good is only
A byproduct
Of evil
Which life
Works
To create

The more I look around
The more I am persuaded
That uncertainty is
The true meaning of life

Who are we
Are we demons
Are we angels
Are we gods

If we were demons
We would forgive ourselves

Monsters
In the shadows

What else would I see?

Every day we send another million
Letters to the stars
Meaning them for one another
Always so surprised how far

All our light and sound can travel
Our radio and TV

Bottles in the sea

Will the others read our messages
And learn about our ways?
Will they know us in the night?
Will they seek us in the day?

Do they go about their lives
Without curiosity
Never looking in the bottles they find
Floating in the sea?

Or perhaps they have already found
Our pretty little sphere
Maybe they already know
Maybe they're already here

For sometimes we send out letters
Hoping they will find and read
We have shown them the whole world
In a dandelion seed

Even if they never find us
Even if they cannot read
They will understand one thing about us:
Curiosity

Even if we never find them
Listening among the stars
We'll never stop sending messages
For that is who we are.

Magnetic
You flow in our veins
Molten
You fill our world
Bound
You make strong the chain
Unburned
You have stolen the fire from your star
And laid it at our feet

She walked right through a rainbow
Sparkling veil of mist and light
And though she was a part of it
All that she saw was white

She walked all the way through the storm
Turned to face it again
And saw the dazzling beauty
That lit up the falling rain

They twinkle like a glockenspiel
Sparkle in pairs a sky apart
The signs and symbols in the wheel
But one sign has no counterpart

The one who steps down from the North
Where arrows sail and eagles twirl
By ancient power to bring forth
His shadow from the underworld

And lo, although the sky has turned
The shadow waits so close, so far
To reach up when the Sun returns
And take hold of our shining star

Although they each may hold the Moon
Our star shall grace only the one
And still the other every June
Stands reaching for the midnight Sun

The Moon may cast a million shadows
On us falls the deepest one
Past the halo our own Earth glow
Casts our shadow on the Sun

The Peacock and the Necromancer
Dance upon the sky
Their light lives on beyond the stars
The thousand staring eyes

We show them where to find us
From Bridgeport to Camelot
We tell them our dark secrets
And we send them our bright thoughts

We flash our golden feathers
And we sing our pretty words
So they will see us, notice us
So that we can be heard

When every other edifice
And evidence is gone
They walk the dark ahead of us
Where our song shall play on

There is an animal inside
Intuitive and powerful
Irrational and dangerous
But animals are beautiful

Sometimes we keep it on a chain
In a vain attempt to control
Discrediting half of the brain
Imprisoning half of the soul

But we've been animals for years
And logic is still new to us
I am not sure we understand
What doing this can do to us

Sometimes the animal grows cold
Refuses to cooperate
It will not do what it is told
It turns to anger and to hate

Sometimes the animal grows numb
If it becomes too deeply bored
Lets go of hope and joy and love
Refusing to dream anymore

Sometimes the animal grows strong
And takes control of the whole brain
Runs rampant, pulling us along
Headlong it drags us by its chain

What would we create if we didn't
Care how others saw our art?
Would we write the exact same poems
Were we not collecting hearts?
Sometimes I really wonder
Whether what I say would be more true
If what I wrote were just for me
And not to share with all of you

We know when we are being watched
And it makes us act different
Instead of simply doing, being
Now we try to represent
This goes not just for humans
But for subatomic particles
I read about it in some kind of
Scientific article

How many eyes are watching me
And altering the way I act?
I hide in a cube in 3D
Somewhere it is a tesseract
Sometimes it's much more fun
To think about this process in reverse
I stare into the starlit sky
And rearrange the Universe

Everything sends its own message
Even if we cannot hear
Light and sound and information
Even if it seems unclear

Everything sends its own message
Even if it says nothing
Nothing is a message too
It says "I have nothing to say"

I am no exception
If you think that I have said nothing
That's a misperception

Even a lie is information
Tells the world "I am a liar"

Behind every single message
Is at least one messenger

We are all part of the message

Sometimes I feel so alien
I don't know what I'm doing
The irony is this is what
Makes me so very human

There was a little weaver long ago
Who wove her warp and weft upon the shore
Upon the other side a love long lost
The river was too deep for her to cross

Upon the seventh day, the seventh Moon
The little weaver stepped back from her loom
She ran to the river to meet her love
Where black and white birds circled up above

She saw him waiting on the other shore
So close to her, and yet so very far
There was no bridge, and she began to cry
She wished upon the stars that she could fly

The circling birds took notice of her prayer
And one by one they came down from the air
Row upon row, the black-white rustling wings
Over the river softly whispering

The moment she believed her blurry eyes
She ran upon light feet into the sky
Higher and ever higher did she ride
Over the bridge and down the other side

At last she and her lost love could be near
On feathered feet she flitted without fear
Across the sky she ran the narrow way
To meet the one she loved for just one day

She floated gently to the starry shore
And there she saw the man who she adored
Her heart was whole, her love no longer lost
Her stars fell from the sky no longer crossed

She ran into his arms and wept with joy
An endless love which time could not destroy
For still we tell the story of their love
Where the world turns on the wing of the dove

The vulture is a peaceful bird
She watches, circles patiently
Waiting for life to become death
So she can gather what she needs

The vulture does not maim or slay
And causes neither harm nor strife
She walks in the shadow of death
And so turns death back into life

One small step forward
Two steps back
Three steps behind
The man in black

If man is five
And God is seven
Ride a ladder
Up to Heaven

Eleven balances the force
And thirteen rides
On a pale horse

After the lightning
Seventeen
Falls to the sea
Don't say --

I can say anything I want to say
And you can keep yourself from hearing
But you cannot stop me from speaking

I have a voice
And you can block it out
Cover people's ears with tape
But I can say anything I want to say

Life has claws
Life has teeth
Life is a conqueror
Life is a thief

Life is blood
Life is joy
Life is wild
Nothing is free

Life is incredibly confusing and complicated and scary
We are able to go on living because we are
Clever and courageous and strong
It's OK to admit sometimes that life is difficult
Sometimes we don't know what it means
Or if it's worth it to find out
But still we keep trying
Not because life is easy or straightforward or clean
But because there is no sense in not trying
If you are already falling
You might as well try to fly
And sing your own song all the way to the ground

O if we could only see
How much we need each other
Would we still spend our precious time
Trying to defeat each other?

The cannibalism won't stop
Till all of us are dead
Humanity is like a hydra
Eating its own head

You love your country
I'm sure that you do
I'm sure they all loved
Their countries too

You love your country
That's how you explain it
