Some months ago a partnership was initiated
With our individual verbiages for you being instigated
All care is taken when composing as a duet
As we aspire to put upon the paper our appealing minuet

While she takes the high road and I take the low
We often meet in the middle of the poetic flow
Bringing together both of our wits
More often a hit than ever a miss

Keeping on track calls for a unified side
To stray from this course our poem would be a disjointed ride
Every now and again we check what's been noted for the crew
As we'd not be satisfied with a misconstrued brew

With topics covered to numerous to mention
All of them our potted clay of invention
We can celebrate what we've placed in our cooking pan
Even though our muse didn't give out her recipe plan

So with a little of this and a whole lot of that
We mix it together for the perfect batch
There's no need to over cook as it's already done
The way that we look at it as all in great fun

Being too serious isn't of our writing tag
We just stow wit and wisdom into a bag
If by fortune we get the arrangement this side of right
Our vocabulary combo may be of your delight

With the poem to our taste we raise our glass high
Using just the right words just the way that we like
No need to ferment this tender bouquet
We send it right out with the feeling it's perfectly aged
This is just another in a long line of poems that Elizabeth and I have composed...I'm thinking we fit together pretty well!

so few synonyms,
for so many needy

for a place of
shelter
by any name

call it what you may,
proffered here to thee,
but yes, but no,
nothing is ever free

the toll to pay is this...

clarify and prep clean a vision,
do away with the dots and floating swirls
seen beneath closed eyes,
get the senses ready,
Purell sanitize gel
all your sad ways of thinking

then
breathe out so loud,
confirming you're genuine, ready, eager,
for you have been prequalified
to be here
to earn a place of
shelter

no other way
other than:

read thy fellow poets,
earn their trust,
learn their signatures,
let their phrases of cleansing comfort
be all the
oasis, refuge, sanctuary, haven, asylum, retreat
you ever need...

fear not the tactile voyage arduous,
we have all paid and made it intact,
when you arrive,
prepare for a
welcome stupendous,
from us who have long patient awaited
more than just your first edition arrival,
but our newer combination additional,
bringing us all to a refreshed
state of grace

"Are You Sure?"

I feel like every time I talk about him,
I use the wrong word.
When I say "******",
I feel like I'm giving him a paper bag,
Under which he can hide,
And distance himself from what he's done.
It feels like a type of absolution.

His name is Bryan.
He is a six foot and two inches tall monster,
That I wish lived only in my dreams.
He rides a motorcycle,
Has a dog named Gilbert,
And smokes unfiltered camels.

And I was wrong.
He is not a monster,
He is a person.
And he is not just a stupid boy,
He is a man.
And he is not just the generic term "******".

He is a human being who is seriously ****** up and I'm not going to give him the privilege of having his name withheld from my story.
So yes, I'm ******* sure.

As this thought was infecting my heart
'I wont want to go, but it will be time to leave
He will be in my heart, forever with me'
I crawled to the only man I will ever love again
Him in a drunken slumber oblivious to the world

This whisper is the lightest, calmest, thing I've ever spoken
Over and over, on and on, "I love you so much"
The quietest thing you have never heard
So lightly spoken that not even God could hear
But this inaudible love was heard by two persons
And two persons only, and he whispered back
"I love you" and I knew no one else could ever hear
please let me know if there are any mistakes quick write thank you or if there is anything i could make better

I've got that itch
that feeling
that maybe I've outgrown
my little section of map

It's time to blur the state lines
It's time to expand the boundaries
United States of whatever the hell I want.

There isn't much to it, really...

Just me and a gas pedal and a general direction

a little classic rock to keep me company

Simplicity.

Driving is so much more enjoyable
when you have nowhere else to be

Chasing the sun
Until the moon catches up

**** roads.

Bring me that horizon
