Maybe we are in love with emptiness
Which explains why we feel it so deeply
I said, “I will take my life
   And throw it away;
I who was fire and song
   Will turn to clay.”

“I will lie no more in the night
   With shaken breath,
I will toss my heart in the air
   To be caught by Death.”

But out of the night I heard,
Like the inland sound of the sea,
The hushed and terrible sob
   Of all humanity.

Then I said, “Oh who am I
To scorn God to his face?
I will bow my head and stay
   And suffer with my race.”
Tomorrows dreams,
broken seams,
crystal thoughts,
binary noughts,
lust for life,
edge of the knife,
warmth of the soul,
colour of coal,
retreat to within,
wrapped up in tin.

don't make me a survivor of your silence
break it
or
break me

What am I suppose to do
Search for the future
Or linger in youth
Live life in a painting
Enjoying the view
Of the mountains painted purple
And the sky painted blue

What do you want me to do
Spend a lifetime waiting
For something brand new;
Stay here where my soul rests
Or go back to you
I regret falling asleep and missing the view
If you don't have me
Will I still have you?
