One day we went
Through a door
Called No Return
To come back no more
We were headed
For a far off distant shore
To be bought and sold
And what’s more
Those not lost in
The deep blue sea
Were robbed of their language
And identity
Much much worst
Is we were not free
From the chains of *******
And we had no key
You controlled me
By the fear of death
Robbed me of my dignity
‘Til there was nothing left
Separated me from my family
And though you’d never guess
Despite all of this
I still am blessed
You may not have done it
But the fact remains
You benefited anyway
From the whips and chains
That your forebears used
Which perhaps explains
Why you were advanced
By your undue gains
