Their child is gay
But who knew
We can’t talk about
LGBTQ
So what are parents
To do?
Tell me truthfully
What would you?

Their child is
Considered queer
And that’s their burden
To bear
Cos they’re not
Allowed to share
Though other people
Stop and stare

Their child
Is suicidal
As we stand by
Being idle
And discussing it
Has been bridled
It’s been outlawed
Cos they’re not entitled

Their child is told
Don’t say gay
Whether or not
They feel that way
Which to them suggests
They’re not okay
See their identity
Gets in the way
