A small word
For a big disease
Has me buckled
To my knees
And I feel challenged
If you please
While hoping to get
A reprise

A war is raging
Deep inside
As red and white
Blood cells collide
And my demise
Can’t be denied
Yet I still feel
God’s on my side

Today I hold on
To the hope
While clinging tightly
To God’s rope
That I have strength
Enough to cope
Without being shot
Full of dope

There are treatments
But no cure
Along with the promise
Of so much more
As science continues
To explore
It’s not as hopeless
As before
