Funny to think
Eyes that once thought I was beautiful
Now gaze at the same beauty
And we're now blind to each other
No, I'm not happy
I'll smile
I'll laugh
I'll look happier than everyone
But I am fear
And that's why they run
They'll see my eyes
We're all scared of something
I'm afraid to feel
tell me what words are there
to articulate this savage parade
not here, not in all the Lebanons
whose crystal castles sparkle
like broken glass
on the dark horizons
at the jagged edges of the world
from which cultured minds have receded
and all humanity has been relinquished
to the barbarity of the frenzied flavours of fools
who will speak for this wild parade
without impediment to mythical protagonists
tell me where are the energised arguments
against sophisticated yet false laments
where testament is torn through
weeping cedar trees
producing the unpredictable accidental quality
that memorialises phantom caresses
that have neither been invented nor encouraged
the hallow that inaugurates
the distinctive features of
destructive energies that are both
exuberant and hard to comprehend
this parade where there is
a savage sensibility
capable of apprehending
contradictory ethical imperatives
that vouch for a mocking stream of
tragic political consequence
displayed vividly in the inextricability
of civil order and political violence
that defies exclusive claim
by casting itself as freedom warrior
in disguise as militaristic humanism
and burns the temple tree
and where human identity
becomes an elusive possession
owned by a few
who in the inevitability of ignorance
refuse to recognise their tragic error
and the world does not mount
a strenuous protest
at this headlong dash for Ephesus
where antagonistic language and
neutral expression of thought converge
and here the value of valulessness
repudiates, even in a single poetic moment
Sitting upon a wobbly fence while people die in a foreign place
Watching and waiting for another to act while spouting rhetorical political chat
Passing blame from one to another as thousands die as the gas clouds smother
So as a world we learnt nothing today as genocide happens again
Auchwitz and Belson we acted to late but promised to learn from man's dark days
So why aren't we doing a **** thing today

Syria oh Syria why do you bleed?
Brother fights brother without thought or need
Ruled by a tyrant for so many years
And now the spilt blood is washed away by tears

Democracy by debate you tried and you failed
Now the wives and mothers they cry and they wail
Democracy now sought at the point of a gun
Your country in turmoil, lives being undone

I sympathise and weep at your terrible plight
Your people are dying, no end in sight
Can man ever undo the chaos he's wrought?
Going to war without reason or thought

Syria oh Syria your bloods being drained
By those who would seek political gain
When the killing is done will you be better off?
Is what you might gain worth all the loss?

Your economy gone so how will you live?
The worlds in recession, no money to give
Families destroyed and homes are no more
All destroyed by a political war
Why is it the ones you love most
Hurt you the worst
They know just what to say
Or even what look to give

You never see it coming
You'd think by now you'd know
See the signs ahead of time
And just turn around and go

Every time blindsided
It tears a piece of heart
Every time is next time
You've said that from the start

If you leave you're the ****
If you stay it's so much work
Why can't it just change

I wish to close the hole is my mind
It's the place where you use to unwind
I shall resign for the fantasy is no longer benign

I want nothing to come to fill this void
Only the strength to break free from your side

Seasons change but patterns don't
As my life goes, new homes are shown

A new storm to destroy me
A higher age to exploit me

Maybe then I will understand the depths of loving a man

Till then I walk with a ghost holding my hand

I'm sorry to let you down
I knew I'd destroy you
So did you
And you let me
You wear your heart on your sleeve
And love like a fool
I hope your freedom stays the same
Whereas my heart is too cold for you
Our flame was but a spark
That was trampled under my foot
What I need is a blazing inferno
Hot, fast and passionate
You need a gentle flower
With a ***** mind
I'm too rough
I'm too pure
I burn too brightly
