Once upon a time,
Someone lived in me

I sheltered them,
And protected them,

Provided a place to hide from the world’s sorrow,
And to brace it’s storms

One day,
I was left alone

I was abandoned,
Left empty and hollow

The current took a toll,
It pushed and pulled

The ocean spit me out,
Broken and weak

I found myself wedged between two boulders,
Unable to move with the sea

Then I was found !
By someone who accepted my broken parts

She thought I was different,
My journey made me different

Because each journey is unique to its owner,
And it is theirs alone

Now, I’m on her window sill,
A place of value

Everyday she admires my beauty and my scars,
She accepts what is,

And that is enough.
A silent friend from dawn till dusk,
He is always around whether you see him or not.
And if you're sad, or happy, or angry,
You know he's there to keep you company.
His fur is soft and eyes are warm, my silent friend,
You'll always be dear to me.
Dear tooth,
You always stuck out,
When all I wanted was for you to fit in,

I hated you,
Despised you,
Resented you,

I tried to hide you away from the world,
But try as I might,
Sooner or later you’d shine right out

In my youth I thought,
I was ugly,
Thought of myself as “almost” pretty

But my age has made me wise
It’s open my eyes
And I can’t imagine a me without you

You make me different,
You make me humble,
You keep me grounded,
And you make me kind,

You remind me that no one is perfect,
And no one will ever be...
Today, I saw you for the first time
   You were exquisite and magnificent,
You lifted my spirits and started my day
   You, showed me the way
You move by clockwork, day in and day out
I know, you'll never let me down
We take so much from you, yet give you so little,
Depend on you so greatly, yet you need nothing from us.
Who made you? Where did you come from?
When did you start and when will you end?
You, cannot answer because you are a prop…
Someone lost their life today,
On the train tracks,
He fell.

Did he know?
That today would be the last?
Did he know?

To many,
He was an inconvenience,
A disruption in their schedule

Many arrived at work late,
Some had a longer trip,
Others had to take alternative routes

Now,
It is the end of the day,
Everyone’s headed home,
Exhausted by the day

He,
He is “this morning’s news”
Just a thing that happened..
Tomorrow he’ll be forgotten

Are they wondering?
Do they see? Really see...
That today it was him,

And tomorrow could be them?

— The End —
