I ENVY YOU
Sula Mabuza Feb 2018
I envy you because you have both parents
But you mistreat them
I envy you because you were given a chance for education
But you bunk classes just to smoke drugs
I envy you because you have a roof over your head
But you choose to throw unauthorized parties
I envy you because you have something called a “room”
And yet you’ve turned it into a *** lounge
I envy you because you are fertile but you keep on taking abortions
I envy you because you have a high ***** count
But you mistreat your children
I envy you because you always have food on your plate
But then you complain on how it tastes bad and you throw it away
I envy you because you have a grand mother
Yet you say she lacks wisdom and is boring you with her endless fairytales
I envy you because you have clothes
Yet you complain and say you want ripped jeans and ripped t-shirts
I envy you because you still have your face and it isn’t ruined
But then you are busy destroying and covering it with makeup
I envy you because you’ve got a chance to celebrate Christmas
But you complain on how it always takes place at the same venue
I envy you because you do not know life
Yet you you walk around mocking people like you own the world
I envy you because you are not me

I WISH I HAD THE PRIVILEGES THAT YOU HAVE.

Tears of an abused child
Sula Mabuza Oct 2017
Sequestered I am
Heart bleeding out
A lump in my throat
A scar cut too deep
Left out
I search for my own closet
Broken
Pieces so many I can't feel any peace
The pace of my pulse seems to be slowing down
The load is too much
I've lost my craves
Self esteem crushed
I can hear the walls gossiping about me
Everyone that laughs seems to be laughing at me
My soul demands to go
Could someone reach out for me
No they mock
So I meet my demands

Black Girl
Sula Mabuza Feb 2018
Oh black girl

Some call you a blackberry

Some say the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice

Some call you chocolate

Skin filled with the dark brown essence of beauty

Some lack the eyes to see your beauty

Some call you a kiwi polish

Undoubtedly you keep on polishing our lives

Some are clouded by the fine texture of ultramel

They forget that you’re caramel

Let the melody of your voice be the creator of good vows

For your beauty makes everyone bow

Oh black girl

Hazel eyes

So dark brown they never go without creating an arc of a smile on our faces

A beauty that is so real and so tantalizing

Some people choose to turn a blind eye on you

But babe you’ve got us running behind your back

Voice so welcoming like a morning chirping bird

You’ve suddenly turned into a bed of roses

A woman full of strength

A woman that brings turnt

A woman that is usually undermined

A woman that is a mine of gold

A woman that never ages easily, no matter how old.

Boldness is your middle name

Whilst others aim to acquire yellowness

Your aim is to remain cocoa-colored

Nut brown

Bronzed

Unbleached

Forever unleashing your extravagant cuteness

A woman that has forever stood strong

A hard worker

A hero

A pure beauty.

We Are Africa
Sula Mabuza Mar 2018
They say Africa is a dark dark continent

It’s true

We produce one of the darkest crisp coffee

They say we live in the bush

It’s true

We love the rose bush

They say Africa is just one country

That’s right

The unity makes us one

They say we love violence

Absolutely

We just can’t wait for the violins to lead the violent thumbing of the African drums

They say Africa is an uncivilized continent

That’s right

Our civilization is above western imagination’s classification

They say Africans live with monkeys

That’s right

We’re lovable by nature

They say Africa is a filthy continent

That’s right

Thy continent is filled with the different races of all the world

They say we were slaves

That’s right

We overcame slavery

But they are still enslaved by their brains

They say Africa is worthless

Well it’s because they are milking our minerals

So it’s true

They say these and that

We say we are who we are

We are the Africa that some of the Europeans run to in order to escape their unjust countries

We are the Africa that developed all the countries in the world

We are the Africa that holds the highest wealth underground

We are the Africa that every European country wants to get for themselves

We are the Africa that gave birth to all the different continents

We are who we are

We love who we are

THINKING OUT LOUD
Sula Mabuza Jul 2018
Life has lost it's meaning
Just like virginity
People have turned to entertain only those who have got their backs
Just like ******* and ******
People are forced to do things out of their will
Just like an injection given to a toddler
We have turned to find pleasure on other people's pain
Just like watching slavery ****
We have turned a blind eye on everything happening around us
Instead we have chosen to **** happiness and satisfaction from other people's struggle
Just like banging prostitutes and hookers
Everyday we choose to lead people astray
Just like watching Tom and Jerry and making people believe that a mouse can fight a cat
Sometimes people cry for help
We feel their pain
But we choose to enjoy it
Just like listening to Michael Jackson's last songs alive
Instead of creating a ladder
We have chosen to create a slide and watch people fall back to poverty
Just like in an amusement park
We have let attitude to rule this world
We see, we feel
But we never act
Everything is in front of us
Just like the body of nowadays' female teens

But I believe you are capable of making a change

Friendship

Friendship
Through anger
You turn me into a sheep
Although we may look cheap
But no chip can carry the good memories we have
Through all you are the best thing I have
You complete me
No one can compete with you
My heart is empty without you
Come fill me up to my full capacity
You are a real buddy
Not just a body with a soul
More like a sole of my life
The jump starter of my heart
Hearts beating at the same rate
Now I rate our friendship with a five out of five
We fight more often
But I'd rather be in your flight than to be an orphan
I will not call you a bestie
But I will call you an only
To me you are family

On the outside she slays
To people she's a party animal
People love the way she smiles
She takes entertainment to a whole new level
She always smiles
On the outside she looks happy
People clap for her now and again
She gets compliments on how she balances her life
On the inside she is lonely
She is hollow
She needs someone to heal her
On the inside she has a hurricane
One that comes when she is alone
Her pillow has turned into a dam of tears
On the inside she needs someone
On the outside she looks sociable
On the inside she is insecure and barely trusts
She looks like she has a lot of friends
But when the day ends
Her teddy and her pillow are her only friends

Heart Broken Smile
Sula Mabuza Sep 2018
She came to me and told me that she did not have those kind of feelings I thought she had
I sat there quiet, letting her vent everything she had to say
After all it was her turn to play the cards
After all I am a good listener
I could tell that she expected me to have an argument with her
I just stared at her for a moment
Letting her have her moment
She thought she had me for a minute
I stood up, took out the mint I had in my mouth for those couple of minutes when she was talking
I gave her a smile as wide as an ocean
I had a lot of options of things I could do to her but then I chose to smile
Then I gave her a simple okay and a simple thank you
She wondered why I had to thank her
So she asked why I was thanking her
She wanted to know what I was thinking
She tried to link my actions to anger but found no match
This wasn't a fight match, I was wiser than she had thought I was
So then I told her that is good that she was now sincere with me
I told her it is good to be clear with everything
She then begged me to be her friend
Thinking that I was going to fall for that trap
She was still stirring up a fight
But then I smiled at her again and then I told her that she deserves to use this time for people who are as perfect as she is.
She gasped for air, the only words that escaped from her mouth were a simple, couple of wows
I could tell she was astonished by this
I assured her that she wouldn't ever see me again
She wanted me to cry or to beg for her love
Not knowing that there is only one heart that I have
And that  heart is not a prison, it does not hold people captive
I smiled at her once more, then I walked away,,
She was still shocked,
A heart broken smile handled everything better than rash thoughts would.

Likes Sands in an Hourglass
Sula Mabuza Jun 2022
So are the days of our lives
Living down memory lane
Taking my own lane
Prioritising my sanity
Realizing that it was all vanity
Squeezing myself into places I don't belong,
Was like hitting a gong expecting it not to make any noise
Deep down the inner voice had to make the sound
It had to show me what I was not seeing
Life is too short for you to try and be who you are not
It is too short to brag
Too short to boast
Too short to suffer
Too short not to embrace your uniqueness
Too short to spend time trying to pursue perfection
Time wasted on pursuit for perfection should have been used
in perfecting yourself
Your own craft
Your own stance
Because where you stand is where you are the strongest
Every situation you are currently in is a reason not to fail
The true strength comes in realizing that like sands in an hourglass
So are the days of our lives
Therefore use them wisely
Bring out the best version of you the world has never seen
For you are capable of anything if you put your mind into it.
