Icarus and Daedalus
On an isle of Doom
Decided they should blow the joint
Before they were in tombs.
That bad ol' Minotaur
Was lookin' for the men
He had a real heavy-duty
Raging jones for them!
But, upon that island
They looked out on an ocean grey
They made themselves wings
Of down & wax
So they could fly away!
Now Daedalus, the wiser man,
Did not soar up high,
But his fool son Icarus
Decided he would try!
Proudly he flapped!
By pride was trapped
Within his aspirations
He was preening, overweaning
Arrogant apparition!
To the sun charioteer, Apolo
He was a little speck
The sun melted his candle
Right down to the wick!
Down, down, down
The young fool went!
There, for all to see!
But is it not
Like our own thought?
A lot like you & me?
So if you're frustrated with
Your progress
Fussing on and kvitching
If you can't handle
Your own candle...
... stay out of the kitchen!.
