1) salmon chase:
harvested
freshly; by my own
fledgling strokes
2) True,
Democracy:
makes no enquiry
of a man; wherever it sees a man
it recognizes a being endowed
by time
with
inalienable
rights

My love for you is dancing the color yellow

Of the sun
just as bright;
the world's light

soft as dandelion,
a blast of wild flower
withinfinite prairie

the glow of camp & a forest night
a porch lantern
caressed by the breeze

the caged canary
deep in the mine
My beating heart

If Donald Trump isn’t a disgrace,
then no office holder
in the United States can be labeled
as such.

He is either prejudice,
inept, or
thoughtless - or
all three.

The reign of Mr. Trump
has been one continual
deluge of malignant passions.

As president,
he has hardly
ever opened his lips, or
pecked his thumbs, without
threatening and denigrating.

The grand object
of his term has been to
aggravate the acrimony
between the contending parties,
spread falsehoods, and
destroy every public figure who speaks
against him.

Mr. Trump has labored, with tragic success,
to break up the bonds of social affection,
and under the ruins of confidence and camaraderie
to smother the faint and wavering light of happiness
that flickers through this dark and detestable absurdity of life.
(h/t William Howard Taft, Stephen Doughty, James T. Callender)

[a poem in the style of E.E. Cummings]
MuEmpire Oct 2018
Like, I was all
                         like What is life
                                                                                 , even

And you were all

                Ugh,            I know
                                                                                 – right

And nothing was
                                                                                … right

                              in this   world

But it

                  didn’t

                        matter

                                         Not
                                                Really

                                                         because
                                                            nothing

Mattered

                                                                                 nothing didn’t matter

within the desolate black bile shadow beneath us
where the candle of confidant and lover ceases
despite all things, yours is sacrosanct; yours undegenerate
aflame through death and bringing life to the tenebrae
