Who am I
When I'm not being myself?
More importantly,
Who am I
When I'm being me?

Feeling somewhat lost
Within myself,
Of late,
I feel I've become
A foreign stranger -
I don't resemble
Who I used to be!

Feeling awkward,
Alone,
With the stranger
Within myself,
Am I her,
Or is she me?

Will I wake-up
From this nightmare--
This horrible bad dream -
Before this Alien
Completely takes over me?

Life can be overwhelming.
We never have control over all aspects of our lives - sometimes we feel we have no control at all. Hence, we sometimes lose ourselves--sadly!
Losing ourselves, at times, can be scary.
I write because
It's an innate impulse--
I have to!

It's a natural instinct -
It's what I was born to do!

Because
He makes me feel
Every moment--completely,

Making me want to live,
Forevermore,
Inside each one--infinitely!

In his absence
She often feels incomplete

Like a hot summer's day
without any heat

Like a puzzle
with a missing piece

Or a lamb
without any fleece

Like a table
without a chair

Or having one shoe
short of a pair

Like a bed
without a pillow
and a blanket

Or a complex maze
without an exit

Like having a driver's license
but no car

Or a night sky
without a shiny star

Like having a fishing line
without tackle and bait

Or a picket fence
without a gate

This feeling
is one
she is always happy
to delete

Having said all that
her poem
is now
complete

Love
cannot be fully comprehended
by using words alone,

Love's true depth
can only be accurately measured
when it is shown,

True love
can be fully recognised,
and felt by the heart,
without needing
the slightest of touch,

When love is expressed
through caring gestures -
it is within actions that real love
is sown and grown;
I truly believe this
to be such!

Dear innocent inner-child,
Still taking refuge,
Sheltered,
In your adult body,

You've been hiding
For so long
In the darkness
Away from everybody.

Decades
Have passed away,

You've never been able
To come out and play.

Your sanity
Has always depended
On being,
Safely,
Tucked away,

You've been all alone
Each and every single day.

I wonder...,
Will you ever be okay?

I take solace
In knowing
God's infinite love
And compassion,
For you,
Will never be taken away.

Dear innocent inner-child,
You found strength
In taking it day-by-day,

I know
It was the only way.

An encouraging word
is moral-support,
which is felt,
as well as heard.

It makes all of the difference,
it helps one form perseverance
and build much needed resilience.

It may very well be
"that little push,"
which saves that person's day,
and it may very well be
a brightly coloured rainbow,
or a ray of sunshine,
which chases their dark clouds away.

It's an empathetic,
invisible, warm embrace,
it's a smile that says...
"You're not alone,"
which is warmly written
all over your face.

An encouraging word
is humble kindness,
which is most appreciated,
whilst it is being observed.
