You were not the
complete face of body
in water of life.

You delivered
half-baked words between the-
bleeding lines.

The balloon bursts
in the chest of a stranger.
Where was moon?

I once had a dream,
I found happiness setting
beside me like an old friend.

My dreams became a shadow,
a reminder of my struggle
but also the muscle
I’ve built over time.

I’ve fought with the devil
and won everytime
but still he tries to
steal the power I’ve
grew to understand
through the struggle.

I once had a dream
or My guardian angel
had a dream about me,
I was drowning in the dirt
a shadow with wings
swooped down and saved me,
my gravestone broke
leaving me woke.
I realized as I lay in bed
I was the shadow,
I saved myself.

My future grew roots,
tried to devour me with
it’s thorns and I woke
from my dream as my life
grew wings.

The struggle is real!

I had a near death experience and this poem is a metaphor of the experience. It’s confusing when you die but you are forced back to life. It can be painful and existing at the same time.

More devastation
outside the eye of the storm
why invite it in

Deadly to his enemies,
confusing to his friends

While faithful to his writing,
all justified intent

Furious in times of war,
in peace his vision burns

But past the fray, inside his verse,
a gentler spirit yearns

Salvation long then sacrificed,
a fate he can’t deny

A cross that’s left for him to bear,
but still his spirit cries

Through battles mostly devil sent,
and victories sealed with death

This guilt the price he’s had to pay,
now felt with every breath

But one last wish he prays out loud,
one cry is sent above

“My spear, my pen, my joie de vivre,
I trade all back for love”
