"I wish you well."

(but not too well without me)
I like 10 word poems because it forces you to summarize your thoughts  to the point where you're really only saying what you mean.
Maybe I should try using that same theory in my own life, haha.

Dearest Juan,

How ya been, kid?
The Big Man Upstairs treating you well?
I hope so.
--
First off, a big thanks to your parents.
It was kind of them to go to the counselor about my note to you.
I know they had the best intentions at heart.
--
I actually saw your family at church on Sunday.
They looked alright...
No, I'm totally lying.
They still look wrecked.
It's only been two weeks, right?
It's obviously been a rough time for them...
Your younger siblings looked weak.
Your older sister looked thinner.
Your parents looked haunted.
I cried when I saw them walking up the aisle.
Wonder if they realized that the song being played at mass was
one that was played at your funeral...
--
Everyone at school is still thinking of you, ya know.
I see you in the blank faces of your friends.
They cringe every time they walk into Freeman's classroom.
They never stay long.
Guess it makes them think of you.
--
I'm gonna say goodbye now, Juan.
Just wrote this to get some thoughts out.
Take care of yourself.
Watch over your family.
Tell John Lennon that Leigh Fresina said, "You're a swine".

See ya, kid.

we are the generation of young poets
our teenage minds all intertwined
and reaching out in dark ink on light paper
behind a name i don't call mine

we are the generation of young poets
who paint with knives and blades
and write our tears away

we are the generation of young poets
scared behind a screen
typing "i dont know what's happening to me"

we are the generation of young poets
unlike one ever before
we are the generation of young poets
and hopefully, we'll make it
and we'll be back for more

Waves

the waves are splashing
our ships are crashing
I am not sure when our feet can touch the floor,
nevertheless when we'll reach the shore.

we were smoothing sailing
now were barely holding the railing
the sun rose over sand and gave me the key to my locks,
but I lost it in the water when we fell atop sharp rocks.

we fell with a soft touch
and all we're left with is not much.
drowning was always a chance but somehow I knew you could save
me from the side effect of these rough waves.

do seas always come with rough water every time?
the rungs never have seemed this hard to climb.
the light up ahead seems dimmer with every sin,
with every waking minute getting harder to live in.

if the world were flat and the sea were dry,
maybe this death wish would fly away in the sky.
but yet I have you to love for by the day,
Love and compassion will show me the way.

Atlas

when it's dark and cloudy like this
it feels as though I am in between two layers of Earth
or in a collapsing room
the sky is a ceiling that is ill supported
a ceiling made out of ***** water leaking on the truck
a wet blanket on a fort from a broken childhood
made to hide from a father that doesn't love you
and if the soggy paper towel breaks
what will come crashing down through it?
the ground doesn't feel safe anymore
because the trees are the only thing separating the sky
from the Earth
and keeping us from being crushed
by whatever it is that's tormenting and oppressing
Atlas.

why do I buy books I won't read
maybe it's the same reason
I fall in love with people I can't have
I never reach out quite far enough
so that these experiences are tantalizingly
untantalizing
and maybe I select a great deal of books
in the hopes of finding one that I will actually enjoy
and I read such a small fraction of them
that I seem to be misspending my money.
but I will continue my vice and form a collection
of books that were
never intended to be read
to sit forever on the bookshelf of my memory,
quiet and untouched
maybe there only to be in stark contrast
to the ones I have opened
and destroyed.

I would like to kiss somebody
it doesn't matter who
I would like to kiss somebody
anybody in particular would do
I'd like the feeling of lips on lips
a body pressed together or two
maybe I'd finally feel what it is to really kiss
since no one's ever shown me, I never really knew.
I'd like to be desperate for somebody
feel their chest pressed against mine
I'd like to want somebody
to fill my soul with unadulterated vice
I would like to kiss somebody
I would like to get my tongue entwined
I would like to lose all inhibitions
on the devil's table, dine.
I would like to kiss somebody,
it doesn't matter who.
I would like to kiss somebody,
in particular, you.
