Paisley Skin (Limerick)
Wayne Wysocki Sep 2018
A sailor profusely tattooed
Enjoyed being secretly lewd;
    He took off his clothes
    Whenever he chose,
And looked not the slightest bit ****.

Rugged Individual
Wayne Wysocki May 2020
The man was neolithic,
Awesome was his might;
His soul was rough and rugged,
Twas made of Neolite!

May your house be free of dragons
May the sunshine follow you
May you someday find the very special kind
Of love that comes to just a few

May your house be free of dragons
May you find your cup of tea,
And number one son of a son of a gun,
May the one you find be me.

My Heart Betray
Wayne Wysocki May 2020
Betray, betray, my heart betray!
You beat so loudly she might hear,
Then she would know I love her so;
I wish my heart would disappear
And seek no thrill from Cupid's dart.

Betray, betray, my heart betray!
You let me love who loves me not;
You never catch me when I fall,
But only taunt me once I'm caught.
For once be still, betraying heart.

I held out my hand to you,
that's all I planned to do--
a helping hand's all I was thinking of

But you saw through other eyes,
and before I could realize,
you mistook kindness for love.

I parked my car beside the bay
The sign said please don't feed the seagulls
I enjoyed the view for a minute or two
when a large and older seagull walked, not flew,
but slowly, purposefully ambled up then stood there waiting by my window.

He patiently lingered as his white and gray feathers were ruffled and fingered
by the gusting chill wind
He looked up then away, never making eye contact,
obviously hoping for a morsel.

This expectation was indication
that the notice had been resisted,
and there had been some who had thrown a crumb
to feed the begging birds
I stayed warm in the car while the wind blew cold, and my feathery friend persisted.

I had no scrap to give him as I seldom eat in my vehicle
Had I something, would I have shared, considering the sign?
I don't know
perhaps,
but I don't know
I know that in standing and waiting, he was thus communicating,
so it's safe to say that in a way
a seagull talked to me today.

Fate?
Wayne Wysocki Sep 2019
A gypsy told me destiny
Has etched the road ahead --
Someone else expressed that we
Can plot a course instead.

While worldly scholars speculate,
Perhaps the truth goes thus:
The universe just shows the way,
The rest is up to us.

Presidential Pardons

As the president pardoned the turkey
From a fate so horribly grim,
He couldn't help but wonder
Who would be pardoning him.

Dancing In My Dreams
Wayne Wysocki May 18
Dancing in my dreams
I'm only dancing in my dreams,
For you no longer hold me
When I need your strong embrace

I will get along
My hopeful heart is very strong,
And you will not define me,
Though no one can take your place

There are other joys to know, And I'll embrace them so,
Every moment, every year,

And when my days are through,
I'll still remember you,
And maybe even shed a little tear

Yes, I will be okay
No, you can't hold me, we can't sway,
But I still have my dreams
I'm still dancing in my dreams.
