They say humans can't fly
but I beg to differ.
There are a few of us,
a silent minority,
that can fly.

Floating through the white fluff of clouds,
Pure and untouched
Dancing on them;
high above the world
In the heavens
Unreachable
Invincible

Before I descend back to the ground
And look up wondering when I will spread my wings
and fly once more.

Surrounded by a void
A suffocating blanket of darkness
Reaching into the soul of myself.
My vision's distorted
the truth is obscured
by the smoke and mirrors
leaving nothing but cold emptiness.

Why am I here?
Where is the light?
Is there a light?
Are there others here
Or am I alone?

I am alone.
There is no light.
There is no reason.
There just is.

But then I see it.
A small flame off in the distance; a reason.
I sprint towards it.
Finally, something I can hold onto that has meaning.
It doesn't grow closer; it moves away.
But, I continue running, with all my might.
On and on and on.
I run until can't run anymore,
and then run some more.

when the light looks like it's gone.
Right when I'm about to give up,
When all seemed lost
the flame explodes around me;
tongues of fire dance around me
in swirling vortex.
It doesn't burn though.
Instead, I am awe struck by beauty.

And then light bursts fourth
as the sky opens up.
Glorious rays of light
brighter than a thousand suns
Dispelling the darkness around me.
I feel something,
an aurora of warmth, filling my soul
and my eyes are opened
to the truth.

I can't help but laugh
from the joy I feel.
I feel happiness,
my heart is over flowing with rapture.
And surging with love.
Love for myself
Love for the truth
Love for others

I am lifted,
up and up and up,
until the world below disappears
and my feet come to rest.
Before me stands a figure,
his pure white clothes
draped across his body.
He smiles and extends his hand to me.
I take it and my new life begins.

Pain
A fire
Destroying
Blackening
What was so beautiful
Now black and grey
Ash
Still smoldering
And burning the Earth

However,
It will grow back
Allowing new opportunities
For more life.
Ashes now fertilizer
Growing, healing
Into something even more beautiful
But still never the same
