A Kind of Silence
ND Uzoamaka Apr 2022
It was 10 in the morning.
My eyes couldn't tell the difference it made,
as I walked down the aisle with daisies in my hands.
She was beautiful this summer,
like every other summers she's witnessed.

My prying little hands,
like the fallen leaves caressing
the Earth's dirt along the pathway
couldn't stay off her delicate body
as she was clothed in a foil like garment.

A thousand kind of silence
crushed the earth like that which occurs
before a Zen monk writes his last haiku
leaving a cryptic message to his loved ones.

The wind carried the aura
of death or what was left of it;
one of the thousand kinds of silence,
a wake of pain, sadnees and defeat,
like Mr Muzat whenever he trims
the garden placed beside the cemetry.

As I stood under the Cypress tree,
I placed my ears on her grave, waiting.
Waiting to hear her scold me one last time,
about my undone shoe laces,
unkept hair and improperly knotted tie.
But all she muttered was one
of the thousand kinds of silence,
one fitting of her,
one fitting the tear drizzled grass.

It's 10 in the morning,
my eyes still can't tell the difference;
just the silence it makes.

The wind is beautiful this morning
Awesome and soothing before my body
relaxing like the sights of the water lilies
embalmed with nature's aura
marinaded in the helms of the valley
defiling the sanctuary of my mind
I let this beauty envelope my very being
as I hang on to the very last straw grasping for air
like a desperate baby clutching on to a candy
Holding on to the very notes from unsung pipes
gliding through the very surface of the sun
dancing to the beats of these symphony
this orchestra, peace for my troubled heart
beauty for my broken soul
I let myself swim in the parfum inhaling every essence
as I watch the wonders heal my soul
I beheld the tranquil touch my heart yearned for
as I let peace conquer my anxiety

What's happened to the stars in the sky
Are these the lifeless nights
where the stars choose to be silent
Is this the night poets write of
one with absent stars and hopeless hope
A might filled with darkness so gross
Where the strongest fright
at the sight of shadows
and the notes of singing owls
And beauty speaks less
than the shadows that surrounds it

Away
ND Uzoamaka Feb 2021
It hurts everytime
I see your face
The pain
Of not having you
Engulfs me

Like the clouds
And they are beautiful
This morning
Caught up in the sky
Like my feelings for you

A relic of memories
I'm willing to let go
This squirrel
Can't have this nut
Cause it's already taken

ND Uzoamaka Jul 2020
Addictions are like
Comfy jail cells
With games, food
and everything necessary.
You find no reason
To get out of it
Even with it's doors wide open
So you just sit right there
Until time runs out and it's doors Are shut permanently.

Tell her
ND Uzoamaka May 2020
Tell her
You've missed her
Just as the earth misses the sun
At nightfall even as she falls
Into your warm embrace

Tell her
You'll hold hands with her
And walk down the streets in the past, present and future
As time tells in all its clock work

Tell her
She's the nutcracker
That drives you nuts
Breaking a smile into your face
With just a glance at her beautiful face

Tell her
She is
The one you've longed to be with
The one in which you find your whole

Tell her
This was meant to be

...
It's so easy not to be yourself
Just lock the real you in the closet with the lights turned off
Keep a monster in there
To keep him company
Scare the **** out of him
To leave him spineless; then,
Drink the paints dry
And watch the colours of the rainbow change

I drown
In your words
And I forget
To swim in mine
All that I'd hope to build
And all I've built on hope
Comes crashing down
At your feet

Broken
ND Uzoamaka Apr 2020
I give my heart to you
On a platter of gold
Lies the broken pieces of my shattered core
The very essence of my being
Crushed by the hands of my ex

Its easy loving someone without being loved back

Time will tell
Time will heal
but it seems not to work for me
So I turn to you

......
I walked through the streets with caution
Not for the fear of the pandemic but of the curfew
I'd wear my mask to mask my fears
Call me scared but my face mask says otherwise
Who would have thought a single handshake could earn you isolation,
locked up by your modest act of salutation ?
Who would have thought the streets with the busy bees
would be emptied by the words of a man ?
Who would have thought the idle and the busy
would be sited at their homes ?
Who would have thought the words “stay safe”
would really be a safe word for everyone ?
Who would have thought that Safety
could beat chaos for the order of the day

When I fall in love
Will I rise up back or continue to drown  in your deep blue hazy eyes?
Will she be my other half or one in whom I find my whole .
Will time tell her story intertwined with mine?
Because she is like the beauty of the falling snow crispy witty and joyous to the soul
Her eyes are like the lines of horizon drawing me back into the ocean
Will she be my lawfully wedded wife or a fantasy
Will she be the mother of my children or will I be the other man?

Space
ND Uzoamaka Apr 2020
I'm sealed in the four corners of my mind
This fortress of solitude built with betrayal and hate
Mama once said don't trust people
They'll always bite you in the back
Flood you with poison from their fangs buried deep into your flesh
I think she was right,
I've always seen the world as a pile of dirt
That gets sullied daily by the product of the actions of men

Secluded in my own thoughts, alone with my fears
I trust this castle walls to keep me safe
Safer than anyone can make me feel
But this isn't the truth I speak to myself
No one really cares about me
Even when I'm cloaked by my shadows
Drowning in the darkness
Praying that somehow, I might see the light
Set it right and move on to another version of myself
But I stopped thinking, i locked myself in the darkness
which was the easiest way out

Look how far we've come
Time will tell
Time will tell a story of ageless worth
As folklores beneath the moon light when we were kids
As thrillers when we were teens
And a reality when we are old
A ****** of nails in blood we're told
The king lead to slaughter
Dressed in red, Salvation's print
A prize to pay for our endless sins

Demons
ND Uzoamaka Jan 2020
you think you're trying to shut us out
and yet you are just our puppet
living on the edge your resolve
softer than butter
we control your desires
and give you leisure in abudance

you can't drown your sorrows in acidic liqiud
because we don't reside in your stomach
you can't force us out with meditations
no! we play king of the hill with your mind,
it's exhilrating

your mind is an abomination
and we casue commotion
because you have no regulations
or principles whatsoever
you have no authority
over your subconsciousness
and your conscience
is on the brink of extinction

sometimes it feels like a dream
and yet it's so real
with just a spark you've brought us this far
it's exciting

with your counsel you've single handedly imprisoned yourself
a prisoner chained down by his own addictions
he can't even break free
it seems you can ruin your own soul and life
and you don't even need me

your addictions a source of your happiness
coated with grief
you can't get over it
it sticks like gum
suffering sugar coated in lies and luxury.
messing up everything on your own
we have no problem with that
because you detached yourself and became lonely
and so we brought company, you'll never walk alone

we're not here to help you
you've grown now
for so long we acted like we cared about you
so it's pointless pretending that we won't hurt
for so long we acted like we cared about you
just so you could let us in some more until you become helpless

the control of the mind of a man
has been left in his hand by God
and it's called freewill
the right to choose whatever is right
and decline the wrong on your own accord
how can a man be a prisoner in his own home ?

yes the voices has the sweetest tongues
yes it has the smoothtest lies
but you alone control what stays in your mind .
grace is more than sufficient
but helplessness comes from ignoring the power of the almighty.
christ has set us free from the power of sin
and now we have power over sin

temptations will come but when our faith is so strong
it'll bounce off and leave.
no principality has control over your personality
because the almighty has paid the price
for the ultimate sacrifice for our iniquity.

if those voice come at you again,
remember that you're free in christ Jesus
and stand up straight
send them parking and never let anyone
or anything stay and confuse you
Selah !!

Should I call you a flower or just a moment ?
Will you fade away as time pass by?
Will be my perfection or flaws flowing as the river of Babylon?
Will I find who I am in you I hold dear?
