Both of us cannot win,
in circles not for the first time
what defences can we possess.

Melting in your arms again
what more must I reveal ?
Antony Glaser Jun 2018
love is a chance
a blissful surrender,
its a happenstance in the park,
in the gaze of the eyes
so hyptonzing,
a whisper and murmur  of the heart.
Antony Glaser Apr 2022
Lonely Anne.
The day lays still,
shadows forever chase the wall,
beneath the nights, benign future spheres
gigantic upheavals,
step out into skyline infinity
forever starry-eyed,
you're speaking out about the fear of loving.
you cant release or realize,
There are lines for our deeds
and platitudes for our causes
can our morals be recalled today?
Antony Glaser Jul 2022
Memories fade from your face
You decided to leave the human race
A bluebird flew through your hands
and saw you crying

Love never came to your door
What is it for
Something to warm the heart
and lessen the pain

How does it feel to be lost
to wake up in the morning and smile
open the door
let the wind ruffle you
Antony Glaser May 2022
The note said
loves a nest,
there's this incessant need,
rising in your dreams,
the art of listening
to your heart,
crying in your depths
Pigeon man,
garnish your love,
and then he vanished,
like a stone
into the world
torching the night.
Antony Glaser Jun 2018
Oliver is different.
He is a risk tolerant,
opening umberllas indoors
shoes on tables.
Its just a phrase he is going through
I know because my  Dad told me so
Antony Glaser Jul 2018
Beach head, light top,
regional Frisco veteran
full powered chick
irradiating your enemies,
and smoking  from their peace pipe.
Antony Glaser Jun 2018
Beach head, light top,
regional Frisco veteran
full powered chick.
Youve outpaced the bikers
irradiated your enemies,
and smoked from their peace pipe.
Antony Glaser May 2018
Maeve when i first saw you
my heart skipped a beat,
I have never seen such beauty,
your features felt heavenly,
i felt my life begin with you,
renewing in a vow
like walking down a country lane
leading to mountains
over looking the azure skies.

Valentino was performing high fives
looking for the tried and tested for the night

A frightened lizard showed her reticence
whilst her brothers were rampant in their cravings
partying like  the last days of Rome

Let Peccano tell the truth
for once in his life
He could ungrow his nose
so he could follow  the nostrums

Carry  your  sack to hell
not even a  morsel of  memory  should languish
A  solitary  splinter of  good
still goes punished.
Lower your  eyes in subservience,
but that's  unwise
with those  burning  pyres
of sandals, discarded
least any man secretly merited wings
Antony Glaser Oct 2021
I hear her purr
like a Venetian  canopy
Back to Back, I seek her advice
and she is the cat they
pulled from the sack
Quite undeserving!

Darkness will not separate us
We Clover in truths
curled and nodding

It seems so hard to carry on
War in Europe, inflation, monkeypox.
I would rather live in the past
and shop at the Co-op,
for their community fund purposes
and uber polite staff.
And of course, I go to the Isle of Wright for a day trip,
again to live in their 90s  past
about 20 years behind the mainland,
and I'd buy a Yashica kyocera 230 AF
so I can snap in kodak black and white,
in manual  metering only,
oh the rivalry  of being retrospective.
Antony Glaser Jul 2018
come and enjoin in the procession,
wear your Khaftan
and incant with  pride
scatter roses, inscribe love
youth against the old beatniks ,
and lavish at our break neck
Pacific surge.
Antony Glaser Jun 2018
come and enjoin in the procession
bear your gifts
and recite with wind chimes
See  the warring parties
scatter roses, inscribe love
youth against the beatniks ,
and lavish at our psychedelic suggestion.

In the artefact of Dreamland, resurrected wooden rides
hope for countless  bookings,
though the  drunks
still come to the  Mechanical  Elephant
for their morning well-being.
Buyer beware
cameras with broken  meters are displayed
from the last camera shop
We are witnessing  the flaming of the sands
that  still remembers  Mods and Rockers
with a montage of photographs at the train station's entrance
including two girls
tearing each others hair out,
ominously welcomes the expected arrivals
from the four corners of the social,
making this as exciting
as a  holiday weekend in Hither Green
without the sea.
Dreamland is  a re-opened amusement park in Margate
Mechanical  Elephant is a public house and is named after a  fairground entertainment.
Mod and Rockers  1960s youth groups

I am dinning with collectors.
The table is marble white.
In the past scholars wiled away their time here.
Yet I have no money
only my clothes and  soul.
Why am I pushed through the door  marked religion ?
Are they ungalant seekers too!
There is a 30 year war in progress
Do the priests want by brass belt
to make a musket?
Must I fight the good fight?
Antony Glaser Nov 2021
I knew a woman
dressed in seven shades of rain
I met her in the marketplace
She spoke softly in the morning light
Embracing shadows,
perhaps our sky broke
Green eyes, the light of skin
Painted dreams in her head
This is our tune together,
by some distant river
her face has a frown
Antony Glaser Jan 2022
Hydrangeas, dahlias
and Victorian roses,
alongside the urban gardens,
enough to please us.
Blue-eyed Jay,
sings his songs,
at the joy of being alive.
Whisp of air down his lug holes,
praise to Mary the gardener,
to a woman born free.
Counting down this floral beauty
and add to this a creation rich flowerbed
Antony Glaser Nov 2021
He blows you with his words
The fire of youth gone
He fails you in the wind
digging the trench
forced a smile
never good deeds
Stake and Jury
fixed in your tracts
ice-cold plight

Hayley the coach said it's alright being an introvert,
believe me, I'm one myself!
her smile was like warm confetti!
generally, you need a tab leader!
to draw them in
for your important first impression profile intro,
self-aggrandizement is the highest order!
"Fun-loving person seeks partner in crime"
although avoid cliches.
Instead of "I like walks",
"I love London Midnight ambles"
We've spent an eon down casting ourselves
but Hayley is spreading the new religion,
be an everyday legend.

You still need your head wrapped
around initial ill apt responses
HI Yi!
and how have you coped with COVID?
You need a rear guard retort to answer
Funster seeks a new vista!
offer her scrambled eggs!.

Never had a first date request!
much prefer the slower approach
66.5% surveyed no follow up required
Ask about social distancing
and if a first date hug is okay
were still in the 2020s
consent must be freely given
Love below the sky, still
safety sought.

Matchless in Savannah
without an ignition spark
like a giant matzo ball impending your exit
I never quite liked the act
First, you like me
then on the first flimsy pretext
you upset yourself
me not reading in fiction or
believing in little angel helpers,
hardly aided moi chances
It is shrill in Outer space
The shrouds of tidings aren't very close
Antony Glaser Jun 2022
Love never came to my door.
Zephyr away the pain from my face.
How does it feel to be unloved?
To lay ruffled, joylessly.
The schemes I sought are strained,
but don't let me cry.

I know there's a rumor about my dreams,
which grows like a tumor,
spread by a friend I mistook
I need a bath of light
to answer the door,
maybe with luck
lick up to the brimming year.
Antony Glaser May 2018
May is the blue print month
where the garden fast forwards,
in its boisterous growth
The shrubs are the season's tidings
with deciduous azleas and blushing
rhododendoms,
but beware of the summer ennui
Antony Glaser Nov 2021
Mellowing grey to all those uncertain things,
like a white Picket fence facing skywards blue
or is a red rose to a man that is blind?
No one knows
No one cares.

whilst I hope,
with all my time consuming,
the wind follows the same course.
And to all  those hearts that never came in
like yesterday's unheard pray..
Antony Glaser Apr 2022
she mistrusts the breeze,
the moon is going down the alcove,
come home there's a message in your head,
as sure as the lone tree,
promise your life away,
it was understood in a day
the silence of quietdom
plays the torture of lust.
Antony Glaser Jun 2018
when it shines i daydream about Minia
and I retrace her footprints,
blessing where she stood
on silver threads of love,
still tasting her aroma.
Antony Glaser Nov 2015
Weather tight
mist roaming over
ineptitudes follows
waterfalls and serpentines.
All would be good with  crampons, boots and fleece,
if prior instructions were  followed
but with a misfit  Meetup group
half are experienced
the rest are the stuff of strugglers
break or make every one of them
on the  Brecon Beacons
Antony Glaser Jul 2018
Munchies are not nice when
they stick to the pallet
The  cat dived under the pallor of the moon and a car had to swerve to avoid him.
A Miss Jones gave her heart  away
to the first local parishioner
who walked her down the aisle.
Antony Glaser May 2014
at 39 she tended to over dress
her red coat and black denim trousers
tried to hide
her pelvic pain,
only her doctor seemed to care,
her once boyfriend was nowhere to be seen
she knitted time and handy was she
wishing good tidings to all
suffering brought the tendrils of understanding
Antony Glaser Apr 2014
Jennifer neither knew east from west
laborious in her paisley dress
she wore her confidence
with her kaftan scarf
as yet she's softly spoken to
believing she holds the reigns
but how do you count delusion,
neither saint or sage be
only the faithless prevail
by not rushing
moving into the spare room.
Antony Glaser Jan 2016
I didn't have anything against Rupert Bear
his colouring book beat pixels way before their time
Who wouldn't  later do their home work
when we could play our mix tapes -
The Motors and XTC
and in the middle period
if I  ever got stuck
depend on ones sisters to spruce a playground scruff
Antony Glaser Jan 2014
Gently the night finds a spectre,
creeping like a mist
the pale moon's face interlopes
across the face of the deep river,
it's there the souls of the departed
mourns their shallow song
heartfelt yet long gone.
Antony Glaser Jun 2022
Where are you going?
in the morning song
Were you ever a talisman?
And now are you a golfer or go-for?

The music is so empty
I  fade into the crowd
I never got your reply

We are here under someone's request
buttressed by  someone  else's wild secret
We make discrete our escape

Back home
save at least the truth for me
Were you ever happy?
Did you change enough?
Antony Glaser Jul 2022
Please give me some chopped aubergine
with Afrikanner chops
Could you give me your Ph.D.?
The planner of a healthy diet

Give me back your life
and undo your dementia
Let your care and concern
be the lodestar you gave us
Antony Glaser Feb 2022
Excuse me for the comparison
but your fractions  are looking jaded
Was your teacher a bully
who thought you a dunce
There's nothing to grow old for?
Have you ever shadowed the Sun?
And now you're not so decisive
Life is not so rosy
I tell you what is in store
There's nothing but the grim reaper
and your Mother was a harpy
and the folly is the end of the rainbow
Antony Glaser Jan 2015
Clap to the tune of the modern thymes.
Ones lucky to get an Americano  for under £1.50p in London
It's time to count the pennies
by moving to Stoke on Trent Staffordshire
it seems to be affordable
unless all those London rehoused
are already there.
Its better than Croydon  though.
oatmeal  crumbs yo see
gives you a soft landing
safeguarding the streets
I feel a little  safer less bother
Antony Glaser May 2014
Between the space of nothingness
your narcassistic  streak speaks
to my sincere wish to scratch your face,
almost to imperfect you.
You look tired venturing for a fall.
but otherwise you hide it well,
that arty look and swept back hair
there is no other love than your own
drown and follow your cause 1975
Antony Glaser May 2017
Earnest is not a surname.
It's a deep rooted feeling
that's vein like
in its underscore.
How many times can it grap you
triffle with your cares;
berate you for thinking sorry,
often for a circumstance not of your own making.
Earnest can't stop one worrying
it prides itself on efficient woe
Antony Glaser Mar 2022
Like a rattlesnake
she said I can take you
to the last days of the Weimar Republic
I can show you discordance
or a decided lack of joy, (Mangel an Freude)
like a lizard's unoriginal tongue
her message conveyed doubt

Some teasers
What comes down faster a pound of feathers or lead
and can you tell the wood from the trees

Are you art worthy
Can I unlearn you
fortune unrenewed
just like a night in Leipzig
Antony Glaser Jun 2018
I am winter.
You're sunlight.
I am pale skinned,
murmuring low.
You're olive skinned,
with a glow.
Antony Glaser Feb 2014
a steamed bowl of pak choi with organic rice
and then a multi vitamin
with an acute accent on folic acids
washed down by the strenuous street lights
if life is commotion
a whispered assumption
oils the cogs in our flatshare
unless we typical girls
have failed  to make the grade.
Antony Glaser Feb 2014
the nodding snowdrops cannot compete
with the ornamental grass swaying in the wind.
The pathway to the pond is unsteady
its wet ground giving way,
no room for the artist to paint.
The threatened rain has not arrived
whilst  the camelias gives a sad hue
of what should have been
Antony Glaser Dec 2014
I remember my Father denying
the sense of long haired men
claiming being born a man was set
At that age  I simply admired his strong words
as though he could  thumb score the world
So amazed  I left the ladybird book on the bus
He was surprised, but  not angry
gestures of tolerance went a long way.
After all a few years  early
he berated a Sunday  newsagent for
their archaic  sales  law on that holy day.
Being a daughter in retrospect had its advantages
a  strong  Father who could  navigate  the  rivers
seeing beyond present truth

The orange tulips had a short run,
you could ******* disappointment.
The daffodils hitchhiked life a little longer.
Spring came too early,
and confused the season
and now we wait for summers grandstand.

The ground seems to be heating up,
at times caught short by the morning airs.
The Bluebells their defy age,
Pale like wading, waiting to flourish
in the sometime soon
Antony Glaser Jun 2022
Abundant double-crested hollyhocks preside
White hebes, usually pink glance,
pruning rose hips from the vine
and prolonging their goodness.
Going to get a new fence
because of  Storm Eunice damage
Aching black roots of Elephant ears are cut down.
Green Sherwood paint for picket fence,
Take cuttings from lavatia
to flourish further anew

Please walk slowly
some people don't like the rush
Sing with impertinence
Together convey convergence
Paint your faces
the color skywards

I have honored your time
Some people are marching
others shunter like the swallow
Some in silence
Routine is a whisper
Marigold in its splinter
Antony Glaser Feb 2014
Paper moons fly by  like chances sped ,
on that dismal day
the rain poured down as ungenerous  confetti
and Jennifer with her until then understanding  smile
opined that she had found Mary simply more interesting,
arguably a plaything for the near future
and like a cat she draw blood again
to preserve her power of severance.
Antony Glaser Apr 2022
My Mother was an Accountants wife,
who sometimes spoke Afrikanesse,
on the telephone
when the children were naughty.
Growing hydrangeas in the cellar,
took up CAB in Camden.
The domestic disputes she could tell

Later took up crosswords
after finding a Left Sun Crossword
then became a master.
There was nothing she couldn't do,
draw freehand domestic animals.
Had the prestige of planning healthy diets,
Aubergine  to appear as chopped herrings,
deft with an Afrikanner chop.

Kindness  follows closely behind
the day is done
Nighttimes dreams flourish
