How I like my water
Vera Ezekiel Apr 6
Dumi,

I like love revealing
Hate unlatch
I'm no chameleon
You're no holier
So don't mix me sweet and kola
Cos I like my water settled.
Vera Ezekiel Mar 11
I punctiliously stare the wind
Blows dust over me
Like a car speeding in a dirt track
And I like bird sings my melody
Blithely.

I punctiliously stare the storm
Injects me with flame
Because I'm a crab, I lend
All my horrid pains away.

Last night, in my dreams, God embraced
Me in colors like rainbows
And I laughed at my rainy days
In pitches like a virtuoso.
A poem of life storms, patience and victory.
Vera Ezekiel Mar 10
Yesterday you were black

              Today you become white.

Sometimes, you wonder why you could

Be dead at night and feel Alive in

The dawn like mimosa pudica.

This is because there is mercy,

There is grace, there is Christ

Who rescued you with the purest Blood;

                                      Costly Blood,

Not even the blood of the bull is a measure.
This is the reason for gratefulness.
To the followers of Jesus Christ, To those who would believe in Christ now, To those who would believe later.

The story he had known
Vera Ezekiel Feb 2023
It’s Saturday night

Of unbridled sorrow,

I crouched in tears

Picked up my pen to tell

God of the story, he had

Known

Of the heaps of burdens

Laid on a child whose adulthood

Met as a teenager.

I know that you know

But there’s an urge to remind

You of the promises you made

To my fathers;

To Abraham, the son of Terah

To Isaac, Abraham’s true heir,

To Jocab, to Jesse, the root of

David

And to Christ the Saviour of the World

I mind.
The many things you do

I am here to garner my

My voice is magic,
Sometimes the world clap and hiss;
When sun smiles I'll rise.

Hope in storms
Vera Ezekiel Jan 2021
I have left my tears with mourners
At the mourners' bench,
Letting my eyes dry off like a
river.
I am ready to walk through the path
Where sorrow lost its strength to fight,
To flush every hurt and pain like
a grody ****.
I have a class head who calls
me dumb,
A friend who greets me
behind closed doors
And waves me off at parties
Like a listeriosis carrier.
Sometimes, I did think me a night
A snail that crawls at every first rain
Expectorating at fate like a
Pregnant woman,
Laughing out my essence in bits
And life is leprosy.
Should I tell of my fears and worries
Hunt me randomly under the naked sun.
How my shadow usually awakens me with
Slaps when my mind travels offshore.
I am a star who shines within,
The brightness reflects on my mirror
And my neighbours.
I have been pregnant with dreams
That had robbed me of many a Christmas dress;
Each birth is a Marathon race.
Now, I will accolade myself in blues
And blacks like Agama Lizards
To smile hope in storms.
