moonbeams
Sky Alice Apr 2020
deliciously ruined
poor little human
crying her eyes out in hurt

remnant from great things
image of great kings
kicked up by wind like the dirt

they say who you are is deep down within
but i’m right here, can’t you see
it’s disgusting
one can’t devise the nature of light
without all the ugly to shape and define
so please don’t blame me if my soul’s
a bit dusty

moonbeams are just dead skin glowing
who we are 's just dead skin going
on and on and on again
to a place where the night-lights never end

moonbeams are just dead skin gleaming
who we are 's just dead skin screaming
over and over and over again
why won't the night-lights ever end?

it's funny how the things that are odd
creepy and macabre
are the things we dare call the face of God

if we end up gone
for once just be wrong
seek beauty in horror you stumble upon
write them in poems
a lyric of song
and throw off the angels by singing along

moonbeams are just dead skin glowing
who we are 's just dead skin going
on and on and on again
to a place where the night-lights never end

moonbeams are just dead skin gleaming
who we are 's just dead skin screaming
over and over and over again
why won't the night-lights ever end?

it's funny how the things that are odd
creepy and macabre
are the things we dare call the face of God

and when all is said
everyone is dead
so why won’t they call me a moonbeam instead?

if i’m a moonbeam
and you’re a moonbeam
why can’t a moonbeam be the face of God?
Professor Moriarty:  Did you know that dust is largely composed of human skin?

Sherlock Holmes:  Yes…

Moriarty:  Doesn’t taste the same, though.  You want your skin fresh–just a little crispy.

Sherlock:  Won’t you sit down-

Moriarty:  That’s all people really are, you know?  Dust waiting to be distributed.  And it gets everywhere, doesn’t it?  Every breath you take  Dancing in every sunbeam. All used-up people

Moonbeams are

Just dead skin

Glowing

Who we are 's

Just dead skin

Going

On and on and on again

To a place where the nightlights never end

And after all is said and dead

We're gone

It's funny how things that are odd

Remnant creepy and macabre

Are the things we dare call the face of God

Moonbeams are

Just dead skin

Gleaming

Who we are 's

Just dead skin

Screaming

Over and over and over again

Why won't the nightlights ever end?

And after all is said and dead

We're gone

It's funny how things that are odd

Deliciously ruined and macabre

Are the things we dare call the face of God

stargazing.
Sky Alice Jul 2020
I’m so tired of changing my mind about you
She told me you never went stargazing, now is that true?
Didn’t you know I was crying that night by the pool?
You were telling me all ‘bout your day and how we looked so cute

Heavenly bodies collide in a gentle embrace
My eyes start to puddle with sundry stars like a lake
A fervent wish, but they streak down the sky like it’s too late
Mockery slides over me, they reflect my mistakes

Is it true? Is it you?
Did the inky blackness blot out what’s written?
Cause the stars we can chart
But we can’t predict who’s listening
Tell me, darling darling sparkling diamond
Do you really love me?
I’m trying to figure it out on my own
I’m so alone
You’re on the phone
I’m so alone

What will you say if I tell you that I don’t remember
How it felt when you held my lips in a kiss last December

May I falter May I fall, or will you say I wrecked it all
Oh love, don’t you know you’re wrecking me?

Is it true? Is it you?
Did the inky blackness blot out what’s written?
Cause the stars we can chart
But we can’t predict who’s listening
Tell me, darling darling sparkling diamond
Do you really love me?
I’m trying to figure it out on my own
I’m so alone
You’re on the phone
I’m so alone

Can you hear me
Can you hear me
Can you hear me
Can you?

Somewhere in the sky is a place where I’ll go soon to die
Did I do enough for you?
Am I worth enough to shine
When you stargaze alone in the mirror
Will you choke through the tears, “she was always so happy”
Or will you cry because you’ve realized too late that you’ve killed me

lost in space.
Sky Alice Oct 2020
you don’t know what it feels like
to read and write by starlight
i wrote a play it seemed right
to entertain the moon

space is quite a lonely stage
it turns its starry spotlight gaze
down upon me floating here
with nowhere else to go

darling girl, don’t you know?

i don’t feel satisfaction
when i tell you you’re my world
and i don’t see nothin’ happen
when your lips form empty words
and i’d rather watch from far away
to see how blue you really are
cause even though i’m lost in space
at least it takes my breath away

you tried and tried to make me fear
but it’s so lovely way up here
past the cellophane wrap atmosphere
by the window pane where the glass is clear

and the stars are so bright
and your touch is so cold
but the rocket fuel fires keep me all warm

cause i don’t feel satisfaction
when i tell you you’re my world
and i don’t see nothin’ happen
when your lips form empty words
and i’d rather watch from far away
to see how blue you really are
cause even though i’m lost in space
at least it takes my breath away

i wonder if you’ll miss me
i wonder if you’ll want me
when you’re all alone and it starts to snow
will you think, think of me

or maybe when it rains
and you don’t like the taste
will you start to cry with me
or will you stay the same
