It’s the same old movie, you’ve seen it a thousand times,
About a guy and a girl, and a love song that rhymes.
It used to be just a tale, something to do on a Friday night,
Then just like that it changed, and you began to see it in a whole new light.

All of a sudden it became your obsession, now you had to find out
How you too can join in on the fun, because that’s what your life is about.
Your family, your friends, even the mirror on the wall,
They all tried to warn you, get you to pick a different goal.

But you didn’t listen, you had to see it through,
You’re not like the rest of them, they don’t have a clue.
So you pressed the remote and knocked on the screen,
But the movie just kept playing, no one let you in!

It just got louder and louder, until you couldn’t take it anymore,
If only you could turn it off, or at least go back to before.
But they’re all still there, the guy and the girl and the song,
And all you can do is watch them, while waiting for sleep to come along.
