cold rain

with warmth i recall
our heated beach rendezvous
carefree dune romance

the sand surf and sun
walks hand in hand to earth's end
wishing it wouldn't

until the next time
safely in my winters warmth
cayman nights rewind

The mountains dark but the sky is all aglow
Beautiful purple pink and indigo
Winter retreats to the furthest pole

suicidal heart
leaving, reckless abandon
taking mine with yours

where ever did I go wrong
I even took that turn you wanted
is it to late to turn back around
can we get back to Lovers Lane

your nodding yes but you keep on
heading down that wrong way road
with its flashing red warning sign
Danger falling rocks ahead

so barreling headlong we go
throwing caution to the wind
fate never tempted just sealed
i pin the pedal and go for the win

highest prices paid
fully acknowledged defeat
out from the ashes
shaking off past ***** soot
rising, collecting just dues

Ignorance is bliss
or maybe a fool's delight
you keep reliving your terrible plight
So be another fool who finally get's it right
And release that image from your minds sight

some left behind trail, long dried,
mountain green pools, empty salt, died
nothing alive, just ghostly white lines
leading to dead eyes

Fresh air in new lungs
Fresh sun for young eyes
The breeze brushes my hair, exhaling

Head in the clouds, aloof! they cry
but there it is again, in the bright early Alaskan sky
pinkish peachy hues catch my eye
how can I not stop and sigh
and quietly scream, Oh my!
that's a souls warm hug kind of high
the only high I will not deny

Sometimes it’s just on
Little more pep in the step
It’s all looking up

Shucking silver tinted slippers
Reminds of my wife’s favorite ring
The one with the pearl inside

The sockeye swim in suicidal ******
while I with my eye
ever on the other side
of life death and massive gorges
hop among their bright red hordes
trying in vain to keep my feet dry

wide rolling waters
carry my wretchedness home
wash these fresh wounds clean

they played Ramblin' Rose
tripping on chords, lost in lights
each note it's own song

it's been a tidal ebb and flow
moments of bliss then the lows follow
I long and pray for the lake days
the general ease of the lake malaise
something said for the lake life
less current and less strife
Now we are in the open ocean
rogue waves and that washer motion
better plot our course and to it we stick
slip into a safe harbor, with wounds to lick
The boats been rocking on this voyage
thank god we have each other in this turbulent age

She’s tougher then nails
Stronger then oak, but shaking
What rattles mountains
Upon which my walls are built
anchored deep in her bedrock

Aging moms frantic calls
The sun peeks in going by
The chair rocking soothes me

rolling into you
your arm raises, letting pass
my arm into you
like sliding comfy shoes on
under the covers with you

people RUSH through life
never seeing her beauty
mother nature's gift

all know the HOUR comes
winding roads suddenly end
their warning signs missed

True blue deeper notes
touching echoed chords on strange
twang pulled heart strings

In a forest, in a clearing
A deep dark forest, light safe clearing
My hammock is in the trees
Safe from the cold open sky
And the ever prowling eyes

summer rivers surge
onward push, life's final quest
banks silver linings
spawning generations new
natures wonders on display

Red swarm is warming
for that fateful final run
frantic till their own finish

acknowledge
defeat to face his victory
over this wretched, abandoned, lonely soul

steady hues, shifting
blues surging, nature pulling
mans castles back down

we laid there naked
sweating in breathless wonder
as the sun dried us
no longer kids just playing
now young lovers exploring

marching destiny
coming at a record pace
mortal reality
sickening in quickening
your face, slowing my minds craze

The warm hearty soup came late
After the main course with everything
We all drank every last drop

Going, since you left, Crazy
Nuts, trying to answer, Hurt
For, what happened, Real
You, caused so much, Pain

Some just, well, must obsess
over the issues from the past
Combing over details to the last
Wishing things had been different
If they had done this with more intent
Did that this way not that, hell bent
Opening and closing this drama, trying
Again and again, crying and dying again
Every single time and again, Time better spent
On what to learn and apply Is what’s meant
Past proves present unless you love malcontent
Let the  past go. It’s so simple yet
Not many can do it takes practice
