Walking hand slips in hand
Like a foot in that old canvas ked
Spring and it's thoughts of summer

And boom, hope, drops in

breathing her air in
spring breezes blowing to me
how she swells my lungs

true as deep blue
arrows shot from tiny bows

distinctive winking nods seen

This new man, they see
from the dirt, mud, life’s grime
Wiped off, the real me

their anger
nurtured by evil
turns to hate

My kids buy jeans with
The holes built in, they
Think they are cool, so in
My jeans had patches sewn in
Over holes worn in, buy
Hard playin
climbing and fallin
Ripping and tearin
Flesh with denim
I earned those holes
I flaunted in

the image I hold
is still mine, but cracked, faded
when love comes to mind

Cool crisp early air
Heat flickers safety inside
My worn easy chair

Swollen spring stream
Mountain peaks sweating the heat
I stop to cool my feet

Otters on their backs
In turbulent seas, calm bays
Comfort in their fur

hopping from cloud to cloud
reflected down on mountain lakes
my son's skipping rock

subtle flip of hair
caught cautiously staring  back
she edges closer

we pulled crab and fish aplenty
upon the barnacle scarred wood planks
our splintered arm to creek side bounty

on back roads back home
life turned at a lower gear
slow country living
