When I put thoughts on a page
My kids think it's weird

Why I even write my thoughts on a page
My kids think I ripped
Whose thoughts on a page
My kids think poetry is gay
Until they read my thoughts on a page today

The river currents heart
beats to the salmon tails
as both must keep time

law and order dies
chaotic times our headlines
big brother doth lie

suicidal heart
leaving, reckless abandon
taking mine with yours

forests of old growth
shared ancient roots entangled
grew from the first tree

the worst in rising up
is the coming down
and never ascending again

doodles on pages
circles with stars surround mars
what was I smoking

we all stop out there
the very end of the line
walk an honest path

The wind in leaves, tumbling
Make you look skyward, ever further
Sensing for when it brakes

keep me in this light
walking this darkened pathway
towards morning sun

Entrapped me, bottomless
abundant swirling loving
so freely adrift
lost in your endless abyss
easily happily ensnared

life full of wonder
At the meandering ways
impossibilities
The Davids slaying evil giants
never surrender
The Alamo story not yet written
Emboldened
To never let you go or let you forget I love you

My heart may have been broken
but it never backed down from a fight
It didn't give up or surrender to fear
It will break itself against your mighty ramparts
To remind you why you chose me, love me
Trust me and need me when the tough times
Always seem to come.

little thumb suckers
moms knack of making us men
feel like tiny boys
being punished for bad deeds
moms will, never forsaken

I bit my tongue through
holding back,one basic truth
I can't not love you

sitting here thinking
reflecting off potters marsh
swan couple dancing
alaska's springtime love in
promising hope for new life

red ferns between mounds
sturdy roots connecting
lovers forever

bird of prey majesty
soaring past magical peaks
rocky topped mountains
over great rivers, wide plains
reminding all, freedoms cost

Peering into blue
Deep frigid waters, white capped
Beauty wrapped cold death
on high tides washing away
dead shells echo wails of whales

concrete footprints
size one date two thousand three
some things never change

men have gone insane
defining it, just nature
they say,  God just sighs

Streaks of white part the hills
a misty sun struggles to shine through
Alaska chooses to hit the snooze

coded DNA
nothing happenstance occurred
only creation

True blue deeper notes
touching echoed chords on strange
twang pulled heart strings

Green light is going
She left the shade up, light on
Sunshine pouring forth

minds eye
blinded by fluoride
what do they hide

the stars are gazing
glaring in lustful silence
wishing they were us

The world just flew by
as I sat helpless watching
On an Amtrak train

some dwell on matter
just seeing touching hearing
as if nothing else

sugar glide
seeking sweet nectar
nighttime raid
