Pebbles in brain waves,
Brain waves in appendix.
Asphyxiation of thought and mind.
Don't you cry,
But wouldn't it be swell,
If the world could just lie down and die?

hello like a cup of strong coffee at 6 am.
hello like rain, that isn't really rain, but more-so, a dusting of droplets that only really wet my eyelashes.
hello like the yellowing bends of denim and every last loose thread on my father's hand-me-down jacket.
hello like getting drunk and taking all of my body piercings out.
like waking up the next morning and re-piercing them myself.
hello like poking through.
hello like blood.
hello like oxidization and my favorite brand of adoration, that one that turns to grit and rust on my tongue.
hello like, "yes i am ready for things to get better now".
hello like, "i have no idea how to contribute to things getting better now".
hello like learning the words to my favorite songs again.
hello like learning how to write poetry again.
doing it badly.
not really caring.
hello like this time, no one will say goodbye until i **** well say it's time to leave.
this is the year i cease being a revolving door for half-hearted apologies,
they taste like old chewing gum, these ghostly heart-beaten impressions i've collected.
from now on,
bring me something beating,
bring me something warm,
bring me something red.
bring me your hello.

You say, "Time erases all to dust,
                 Water turns all to rust."
"You are wrong" I say.
You say, "Time will one day dissipate
even the sun, bacteria in the
                  water turns all to rust."
"You are wrong today and always," I say.

You say, "What are you going on about?"
I notice your lip tremble as you weaken
with doubt.
"I am not going to riddle or ridicule you, "I say.
You say," Then what is your arguing about?"
"Water can rust only metal or wash away stuff,
there is no rust on plastic or glass or wood," I say.

You say, "Okay, you may have a point, but ...", you
pause in thought, then go on, " more than rust,
oxidization happens to all!"
"Generalizations are weak with holes," I say and then
"God will end it all when He calls all home."
I say as well.
You say nothing, thinking looking up at the sky.
"He is time, He is love, He is near more than above,
He cleanses with water and turns it into wine, He is
the Divine." I say.
You say," Fine, I know this too, but everything."
"In the beginning God,.." I say.

With that we say no more but run off to grab our hockey
sticks, "I'll be Parent, you'll be Orr," I say.
You say, "He shoots, he scores."
"Let's play some more," I say, "we will be called in for dinner soon,
we don't have much time left before the sun sets and leaves us in
shadow with the lights on the street."
You say, "We would play till dawn, if they let us."
"You are right as always, " I say to make sure I get in the last word.

Oxidization
Volcanic hills are blood red
With memories
Of water
Past
Atmosphere gone
Polar shift, done
Magnetic aesthetic
Still
As pleasing

I've got five pennies in my front pocket
A bag full of broken dreams
I'm on a road to no where
Looking for my place of belonging
Sliding penny after penny in the vending machine
Their semi-green oxidization stains my thumbs
Hoping dollars would sprout from their compound
Hitting "return cash" on the vending machine for every time I've been told I won't make it
This time a nickle drops to the bottom
I've got a nickle in my pocket
A future full of promise

Person after person entraps the oxygen with respiration.
We are all
the bonds
of loving.
Person after person encases the soul with oxidization.
We all are
more than
just skin.
Person after person,
human after monkey,
baby before ***** and whatever the order, this is it.
Hello Jack!
Sam Temple Mar 2016
sharp and stiff pangs
hit my subconscious
old feelings of loss and lament
seem to influence the sunny day
gathering clouds on the horizon
dark and foreboding
heavy with precipitation
and thick enough to blot out the natural light
daytime darkness
as my mood fills the space
outside of my pupils
and I brood,
sullen…
bird chirping takes the sound wave
of scrapping metal on the way to my ears
transformed and damaged
I hear only the scream of mined elements
blended with the slow death
of oxidization…
I rust too –
Sam Temple May 2016
recapturing a feeling
fleeting and forgotten
of love and peace
well-being and understanding
I have misplaced
my empathy –
once upon a time
I sought youtube videos
of children singing
and they brought tears of joy
to my aged and angry eyes
giving me pause
and a moment of quiet reflection
there was a time
in which I tracked down
high mountain lakes
to sit along side
and meditate on my connection
to everything around me
all of the time
…..seems a faded picture
on Kodak paper
from the late 70’s
figures blur and
distortion melds with
time ravaging oxidization –
there was a place
within my own mind
that gave me endless silver linings
constantly finding ways
to embrace optimism…..
though lately
I struggle to find that pathway
I miss old road signs
I pass overgrown landmarks
I forget what I am looking for…..
sitting within
staring out
seeking the old me –
