(O Fortuna! had re-gained popular attention when it was chosen as the theme song for the film, The Omen, the story of a child who was the Anti-Christ.
The entire performance of Orff's Carmina Burana is gripping and spine-chilling. I had the pleasure of watching it from a box seat the the Broward Centre for the Performing Arts back in 1999, played by the Florida Philharmonic (defunct) led by maestro James Judd--it terrified me so much I couldn't sleep for days!-D)

1. O Fortuna (Chorus) (O Fortune)

O Fortuna O Fortune,
velut luna like the moon
statu variabilis, you are changeable,
semper crescis ever waxing
aut decrescis; and waning;
vita detestabilis hateful life
nunc obdurat first oppresses
et tunc curat and then soothes
ludo mentis aciem, as fancy takes it;
egestatem, poverty
potestatem and power
dissolvit ut glaciem. it melts them like ice.
Sors immanis Fate - monstrous
et inanis, and empty,
rota tu volubilis, you whirling wheel,
status malus, you are malevolent,
vana salus well-being is vain
semper dissolubilis, and always fades to nothing,
obumbrata shadowed
et velata and veiled
michi quoque niteris; you plague me too;
nunc per ludum now through the game
dorsum nudum I bring my bare back
fero tui sceleris. to your villainy.
Sors salutis Fate is against me
et virtutis in health
michi nunc contraria, and virtue,
est affectus driven on
et defectus and weighted down,
semper in angaria. always enslaved.
Hac in hora So at this hour
sine mora without delay
corde pulsum tangite; pluck the vibrating strings;
quod per sortem since Fate
sternit fortem, strikes down the strong man,
mecum omnes plangite! everyone weep with me!

About:
"Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936. It is based on 24 of the poems found in the medieval collection Carmina Burana. Its full Latin title is Carmina Burana: Cantiones profanæ cantoribus et choris cantandæ comitantibus instrumentis atque imaginibus magicis"

"Orff first encountered the text in John Addington Symonds's 1884 publication Wine, Women and Song, which included English translations of 46 poems from the collection. Michel Hofmann, a young law student and Latin and Greek enthusiast, assisted Orff in the selection and organization of 24 of these poems into a libretto, mostly in Latin verse, with a small amount of Middle High German and Old Provençal. The selection covers a wide range of topics, as familiar in the 13th century as they are in the 21st century: the fickleness of fortune and wealth, the ephemeral nature of life, the joy of the return of Spring, and the pleasures and perils of drinking, gluttony, gambling and lust."

(July 10, 1895(1895-07-10) – March 29, 1982)
The hands of the clock were reaching high
In an old midtown hotel;
I name no name, but its sordid fame
Is table talk in hell.
I name no name, but hell's own flame
Illumes the lobby garish,
A gilded snare just off Times Square
For the maidens of the parish.

The revolving door swept the grimy floor
Like a crinoline grotesque,
And a lowly *** from an ancient slum
Crept furtively past the desk.
His footsteps sift into the lift
As a knife in the sheath is slipped,
Stealthy and swift into the lift
As a vampire into a crypt.

Old Maxie, the elevator boy,
Was reading an ode by Shelley,
But he dropped the ode as it were a toad
When the gun jammed into his belly.
There came a whisper as soft as mud
In the bed of an old canal:
"Take me up to the suite of Pinball Pete,
The rat who betrayed my gal."

The lift doth rise with groans and sighs
Like a duchess for the waltz,
Then in middle shaft, like a duchess daft,
It changes its mind and halts.
The *** bites lip as the landlocked ship
Doth neither fall nor rise,
But Maxie the elevator boy
Regards him with burning eyes.
"First, to explore the thirteenth floor,"
Says Maxie, "would be wise."

Quoth the ***, "There is moss on your double cross,
I have been this way before,
I have cased the joint at every point,
And there is no thirteenth floor.
The architect he skipped direct
From twelve unto fourteen,
There is twelve below and fourteen above,
And nothing in between,
For the vermin who dwell in this hotel
Could never abide thirteen."

Said Max, "Thirteen, that floor obscene,
Is hidden from human sight;
But once a year it doth appear,
On this Walpurgis Night.
Ere you peril your soul in murderer's role,
Heed those who sinned of yore;
The path they trod led away from God,
And onto the thirteenth floor,
Where those they slew, a grisly crew,
Reproach them forevermore.

"We are higher than twelve and below fourteen,"
Said Maxie to the ***,
"And the sickening draft that taints the shaft
Is a whiff of kingdom come.
The sickening draft that taints the shaft
Blows through the devil's door!"
And he squashed the latch like a fungus patch,
And revealed the thirteenth floor.

It was cheap cigars like lurid scars
That glowed in the rancid gloom,
The murk was a-boil with fusel oil
And the reek of stale perfume.
And round and round there dragged and wound
A loathsome conga chain,
The square and the hep in slow lock step,
The slayer and the slain.
(For the souls of the victims ascend on high,
But their bodies below remain.)

The clean souls fly to their home in the sky,
But their bodies remain below
To pursue the Cain who each has slain
And harry him to and fro.
When life is extinct each corpse is linked
To its gibbering murderer,
As a chicken is bound with wire around
The neck of a killer cur.

Handcuffed to Hate come Doctor Waite
(He tastes the poison now),
And Ruth and Judd and a head of blood
With horns upon its brow.
Up sashays Nan with her feathery fan
From Floradora bright;
She never hung for Caesar Young
But she's dancing with him tonight.

Here's the bulging hip and the foam-flecked lip
Of the mad dog, Vincent Coll,
And over there that ill-met pair,
Becker and Rosenthal,
Here's Legs and Dutch and a dozen such
Of braggart bullies and brutes,
And each one bends 'neath the weight of friends
Who are wearing concrete suits.

Now the ****** make way for the double-******
Who emerge with shuffling pace
From the nightmare zone of persons unknown,
With neither name nor face.
And poor Dot King to one doth cling,
Joined in a ghastly jig,
While Elwell doth jape at a goblin shape
And tickle it with his wig.

See Rothstein pass like breath on a glass,
The original Black Sox kid;
He riffles the pack, riding piggyback
On the killer whose name he hid.
And smeared like brine on a slavering swine,
Starr Faithful, once so fair,
Drawn from the sea to her debauchee,
With the salt sand in her hair.

And still they come, and from the ***
The icy sweat doth spray;
His white lips scream as in a dream,
"For God's sake, let's away!
If ever I meet with Pinball Pete
I will not seek his gore,
Lest a treadmill grim I must trudge with him
On the hideous thirteenth floor."

"For you I rejoice," said Maxie's voice,
"And I bid you go in peace,
But I am late for a dancing date
That nevermore will cease.
So remember, friend, as your way you wend,
That it would have happened to you,
But I turned the heat on Pinball Pete;
You see - I had a daughter, too!"

The *** reached out and he tried to shout,
But the door in his face was slammed,
And silent as stone he rode down alone
From the floor of the double-******.

DRESSMAKERS to the stars J’Aton have turned designer detectives after one of their most valuable couture gowns was stolen from a bride’s home last week.

The one-of-a-kind gown, which was stolen from Leanne Bartucca’s Greenvale residence along with other valuables, is estimated to be worth more than $40,000.

It weighs more than 18kg, and features intricate 100-year-old vintage French lace that has been carved and sculpted onto leather and layered tulle.

J’Aton designers Anthony Pittorino and Jacob Luppino, who also made the wedding gowns of Rebecca Judd, Nadia Bartel, Jodi Gordon and Yvette Prieto, wife of Michael Jordan, are appealing to the public in the hope that if it goes for sale online, someone will recognise the distinctive dress.

“We are so devastated for our dear friend Leanne; that dress has a special place in our hearts and is so sentimental to us all,” the pair said.

“It’s a dress that we created especially for Leanne, it has her and her husband’s initials embroidered into the train and we just hope that if anyone recognises the distinguishable design for sale on websites or social media, that they report it to the police.”

Ms Bartucca, who wore the dress in March, 2014, says she has been devastated by its theft.

“It’s such a sentimental thing; my family and the J’Aton boys have been checking the internet daily in the hopes that we will see it for sale,” she said.

“I had dreams of using the fabric from it for my children’s christening gowns, and even framing a section of the fabric for our home.

“[The thieves] definitely knew what they were doing. As a former fashion buyer, I was surprised how much they knew — what they left behind was just as telling as what they took.

“They could tell the difference between real and fake jewellery, they left certain shoe brands behind and obviously went straight for the J’Aton dress, which was covered in tissue paper and in a white box at the top of the wardrobe.”

Police said they were investigating whether the burglary was in relation to another in the same area.Read more at:http://www.marieaustralia.com/white-formal-dresses | www.marieaustralia.com/black-formal-dresses

Ok, this was an experiment in 'minimalistic' writing. I think it works quite well but I'd like to know what readers think. And a trip to Wikipedia may be needed, or not!

On my graduation day,
I ripped down all the flimsy paper signs
hanging from the ceiling,
like Judd Nelson does on The Breakfast Club.
I just wanted to be that cool.
I also poured glitter into the water fountains
so it could reflect off the drinkers eyes,
as a reminder that even when you leave here
you can still shine.
I put my lock on backwards
so it would be a ***** for faculty to take off
my locker when I was gone.
I turned in my cap and gown inside out,
and wrote
"see you then"
on the tag right next to the size,
hoping someone might laugh when they read it
or think it was written by someone real wise
when really it was some moon-eyed girl who heard it
from a friend she knew long ago.
I did a donut in the parking lot
with my beat up Cherokee
who had been down all the back roads
too many nights in a row,
just because I wanted to.
I didn't wear underwear to the ceremony,
because it made me feel free
like I was finally going to be.
I also sketched every dream I had
on pieces of loose leaf
and threw them in random places throughout the school,
praying someone would find them
and maybe have them too.
I almost punched you,
for all the times I should have back in middle school
but I didn't want the principal to ask
why there was blood on my hands
when they handed me that fake diploma
that wouldn't really come in the mail
for weeks.
It was just a day to congratulate
all the **** you got away with as a kid,
and to remind you those days are over
it gets real
from this point on-
how comforting.
I left the stage with my tongue out,
hands raised saying goodbye
here I go
thanks for teaching me all the stuff,
I never really wanted to know.
And by the way,
I put 20 goldfish in the girl's lavatory toilets
so even when I left
there'd be something hard to get rid of
something you'd never forget-
like me
when I was gone.

We ate chicken sandwiches, mine
no bun, at a table with an 80's
geometric design on top of two silver
metal legs with our legs
intertwined. I tried
to draw a comic on the wrapper,
but you kept making me laugh
by reenacting the conversation
we had with the lady at the register
who gave us the wrong change,
but using a baby's voice instead.
The boy mopping the floors wished
desperately that we would leave, but
you looked so cute with ketchup
on your lip and I really, really
didn't want you to drop me off.
There was an Adele song
on the radio that we've heard for the second
time, but you sound more like
a forgotten track to a John Hughes film--
a little heavy, a little messed up, a whammy
bar progression with blonde hair
who wore jeans and had a really cool car.
I'd like to kiss you like Molly Ringwald
does Judd Nelson in that movie
we talked the whole way through as it played
on Netflix. I'd like to wear you
like a bad haircut; something no one else
understands but I pull off effortlessly.
You feel effortless to me. So refill
my take-out cup with five different sodas,
make a scene as we leave the restaurant,
my hand laced up in yours, and let me drink
you in as I pretend we aren't driving
back home just yet.

Morals are learned
from the person that means the most to you in your life
She taught me how to live
regardLESS of what others thought
she taught me how to be one of the others
and let people live how they want to
REGARDless of what I think.
she taught me to shoot for my dreams
no matter how big or small.
Be outspoken but not too.
be nice and sometimes too much.
cherish every moment no matter how sad.
keep calm and cook on.
she taught me how to do something for someone
that someone mostly being her.
She taught me to take people in as if they were my own.
Care for them
feed them
house them.
she taught me to search and find remarkable people.
She is remarkable.
She cares for the earth and the continuation of the human race
more than any mother or father loves their child.

She's getting up there in the ages.
old as the dust bowl
old as Woodrow Wilson through Barack Obama
old as the true spirit of Council Grove
She started Council Grove as far as I'm concerned.
She can and will live as long as I am alive.
I will continue my life for her.
I will stop being mean for her
I will never attempt to allow the world to end for her.
She did it for not only me,
but her son
her daughters
her grandsons and granddaughters
her family that isnt of the same blood
and even for you,
The clueless reader.
Let me break it down for you
so you know what I say is true
Helen Judd made a ******* difference.
How about you?
Helen, I love you and no matter what happens, I will never forget what you did, not only for me, but the animals, trees, plants, and human race.

I’m sure my parents must notice the wall

I’ve built between us, brick by brick.

Is it any wonder they wonder

Why I clock in hours that turn into days

At the theatre, the school,

A plaza over I-95.

It’s true, I have work.

I know it, they know it.

We also both know (or hope)

It’s only for now.

One day I’ll come back

This summer, or post-college

Or at the time of a tragedy

And we’ll reunite

No matter what age

We’ll go back, step back to previous days

Walk on Atlantic Avenue again

Go out to dinner at the same restaurant

Watch Judd Apatow movies and laugh,

Together, not online.

Another gone, gone again.
I thought he liked me for me.
I thought i felt safe with me.
I thought it would last longer than four days.
The good guys always get away,
but, as i always say its just one more off the list.
Maybe the next one waiting for me will last.
Two guys are there for me and seem like it.
I want someone to be there and be able to tell me if they are good.

Another gone, gone again.
As i lay with my phone calling and texting two.
I've never felt that comfored by someone.
When will the hurting stop?
when will they stop turning off the lights and keep them on?
When will the heart be one?
When will someone fill the pain of the hole in the heart?
The girl trapped in the room.
She can never get out, cause the door is locked.
Though i know someone will come along with the key and let her out.
Maybe he will save her for once.

Another gone, gone again.
Can't my life be like a movie?
I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window.
I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey.
I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me.
I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me.
But none of that happens.
Because they just want us to get hurt and do anything for them.

Another gone, gone again.
And i can't do anything but wait and cry.
can the hurting stop?
Syd Feb 2014
“I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window.  I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey.  I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me.  I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me.  Just once I want my life to be like an 80′s movie, preferably one with a… really awesome musical number for no apparent reason.  But no, John Hughes did not direct my life.”

It’s been a long time coming to face up to myself and discover who I am
I’ve been pacing around being who I’m destined to be and I’m tired of fighting with fate
Who am I?

Long ago, I learned to play games with the relationships in my life
I learned by playing ISpy and not tell my finds
To be quiet cause I think I’m a little ****** in the head and I just don’t find majority the “coolest”
Making me an outcast but I revel in it and it’s the path my spirit chooses
I have Lalochezia
My heart hold nothing but love and the want to help
My brain, sometimes, chooses to live somewhere else
I wish to be friends with everyone
I think sometimes I try too hard
I make an *** of myself
People always use the First Impression Card
I care a lot about the people around me
Though as an Leo I’m very self centered

As a mother now I’ve learned that regardless of any situation I should hold myself to higher standards
So I work so hard to be up and better because of the worry of being seen as too slacked as a mother and I was raised that way
Perfection and silence won’t get you hit
If you do, he will be the perfect example of everything he wants me to do, just the opposite
I ponder that part of me that strives for perfection is the reason people stay away
I love all the different types of love in this world
I’m may even be in love with love you could say
I’m a hopeless romantic and a cynic
A Good Girl and a Rebel Next Door
I want nothing more than to be one with the universe and stars and live within it
I want the Ultimate Knowledge someday
I’ve learned it’s not my choice nor any other man’s the time I’m destined to go
I will be one will the Milky Way someday along with every other dead but shining soul
I am an old soul with a young spirit
I wanna dance naked with my husband when my kids are being babysat
I wanna provide my kids the world and spoil them just because I can
I want to explore and dig my toes in most every Country’s sand
I don’t emit the the façade that I think I’m better than I am
Because I don’t think I am
I know everywhere that I could possibly stand
I crave to meet people’s soul
Not their Sluggish Daily Mask
I know their are so many more out their like me or different
I relish that the opportunities are vast

HOW TO TURN ABANDONED WOMEN INTO TOP-NOTCH BROOM JOCKEYS [1 December on December first] - Women come in all colors except purple, orange, green, and a few others, but 1 thing is for sure: women are here to stay. Most women stretch out at 5 feet tall (or even taller when swinging from a chin-up bar). Women are trainable, that's been proven by renowned professors of course from important colleges in Europe. Never push a woman off the observation deck of the Empire State Building or off a Grand Canyon cliff ledge that's in excess of 200 feet high because God wouldn't approve because He made women for normal people and lesbians to pal around with. Do you think North & South Dakota will become 1 Dakota? "I don't need a money order or a personal check because I got Jesus, and if you don't like that you can go straight to hell!" Jimmy Swaggart warned Donnie, whose irresponsible spending ******* tons of feather-light people bound for Heaven.  I read about a liver doctor murdering a kidney doctor over their love for a foot doctor. Jimmy Swaggart and Judd Hirsch were born March 15, 1935. They'll probably not die on the same day.

Most women stretch out at 5 feet tall (or even taller when swinging from chin-up bars).
