The Magic Lamp

Our story opens with a man setting in a sparse room in the dark he has retreated here since the
Recent death of his wife the rest of the house and her memory has been closed off his great
Hands are trembling just at his finger tips you can see the blue steel barrel of the gun he plans to
Use to go and join his wife he hesitates for a moment the last remnants of such a powerful love
Shouldn’t end in darkness. He walks to the lone table that holds the lamp the one they bought
Together on one of their outings at an antique store He turns the switch the golden glow
Touches deep recesses he sobs but more determined than before to stop the mountainous pain
Setting on his shoulder, what is that a figure in the dim light it can’t be it’s his Linda how can it be
Her answer the lamp is not just an ordinary lamp another great suffer made it in his time of
Greatest distress he was going have it always lit and then believe intensely that she was alive in
Its glow somehow this act penetrated unknown spheres a stream of life broke from the mighty
Current of eternal life and caused his wife to walked out from the shadowy world of the forever
Tomorrows did tears and anguish change the course of this spiritual river possibly so? To Ben’s
Surprise through the window he saw a crowd who are they he wondered Linda spoke they are
Others that hurt and have been led to the lamps location by sharing its power it will continue to
Grow. First a heart broken mother walked in as she was welcomed she touched the lamp shade
Then heard her young daughters voice behind her the one who had been killed just weeks
Before by a drunk driver what rejoicing they had in these golden moments seeds were planted
To cause an undying harvest now her and the daughter forged bonds that not even death could
Defeat the mother now renewed strengthened let go of her daughters hand all would be well
Now the cold unknown was replaced by inspirational fires that were promised and assured in
The lamps light its rays would be a continualy bright morning with all the feelings that are
Associated with that glorious time of day until finally the eternal and natural morning merges
From this time on Ben’s life changed to the house no longer dark and somber but now airy and
Light dear readers I wrote this by that lamps burning so when you read this look no more with
Pain filled eyes but with joy embrace those that are in unquenchable light darkness not allowed
the magic lamp is burning.

Twisting, turning, churning, swirling
My heart is a maelstrom
Consuming emotion
Twisting endlessly
Swirling perpetually
Tossing on the water
A beautiful, impassioned, blue maelstrom.

Twisting, turning, churning, swirling
My heart is a leaf
Consuming peace
Hovering incessantly
Soaring tirelessly
Tossing in the wind
A beautiful, tranquil, green leaf.

Twisting, turning, churning, swirling
My heart is a blaze
Consuming wrath
Flaming constantly
Combusting continualy
Tossing in the fire
A beautiful, violent, red, blaze

Twisting, turning, churning, swirling,
My heart is a stone
Consuming structure
Tumbling boundlessly
Crumbling unendingly
Tossing on the earth
A beautiful, exact, brown, stone.
