I  am the inconsequential name upon your lips,
the one that fades and dies.
I am the liquor upon your breath,
the one that feeds your lies.

A memory of tangled sheets,
so darling and benign.
My eyes they flash a desperate smile
before we intertwine.

fingers tremble,
audacious touch,
but nervous and so shy
with practiced hands, speak timidly
to silence you with lies.

to quell my heart with false facade,
to set my mind at ease
to tell my myself that for tonight
my loneliness will cease.

I shudder with unrequited fear,
this is all I'll ever know,
I'll become the girl you tell your love
you didn't really know.

my lips are chapped from kissing you,
i'll blame it on the winter blue,
an unseen taint upon my skin,
licked bruises bloom from deep within.
i should have known loose liquored lips,
would lead handprints upon my hips.
do you love the way i smile?
stay and laugh with me awhile?
i know you love to trace my mouth
i watch your gaze it  travels south
remember when you called me pretty,
here inside this broken city.
now we're back where we began
on trembling legs i stumble, ran
you are silent, say goodnight
i don't reply I'm not polite.
