She was struggling with the bills,
the rent, against life itself.
The oriole sang,
blazing from the trees
like the sun itself,
then flew into the skies.
Her heart went with him,
and did not return.
a rhythm was born
rocked in the cradle of the world
you can hear it in the wind
and in the sigh of the ocean
It cannot be named
or ever known
It’s at the heart of every song
and every poem
sweet meadow violets
cowpats in the muddy fields
grow the sweetest things
scintillating scarlet
shimmer of sunset
drowning gold radiance
in unfurling roses
highlights of rubies
coral, carnelians
This is a colour song
Ombré viridian
bright silver and rose
Darkest obsidian
electrum light glows

Amber and pearl
Ocean and olive leaf
Candy pink for a girl
Indigo for all grief

Scarlet so bold
Ochre of earth hues
Violet so bold
Singing the deepest  blues
sunflower facing sun
you never lose sight of him
you’re a faithful one
the moon is a boat
she carries angels and dreams
bringing them to you
