I swirl the stress, turn
pirouette in my veins.
It is fuel for my fire.
I breathe in, out.
shallow,
yet crisp
the smell of burning
leaves on a brisk
autumn day.

I am the flame,
won't you put
me out?
whirlwind sprinting to
the flittering keys, I need
to be more, to say more
I need to be the person
they think I can be, a
woman with confidence
an artist, a lover, the
person I always was
under the soot, diamond
in the rough, and
I'm ready to shine.

I thought I was clever
But then I looked it up
It means almost
But not entirely
The opposite
Of what I was trying to convey
Or just a word a bit like it
Mycelium mitocondria
Way hey!
So spew forth
Like Del Boy
Ringo
Myself
Or
Tony Soprano
You got the feel
And the rhythm right
And that is half the battle.

A chance to get mangled
A chance to make friends
Dive fast and deep
Then come up again
Steep
Retain nitrogen
Get
The
Bends.

One misfolded protein
Leads to another
The next thing you know
You've **** yer pants
And your brains have turned
To blubber.

The moon leaves the night
to find the sun,
the sun leaves the day
to find the moon
and I stand in the shadow
they pass between them.
