You treat your heart like a light
You switch if off or on at will
And you want it to be off most of the time
so that you are not exposed by its brightness

You don't  realize but you turn it on when you sleep walk during the day
When you do the little things for others that show you care
Those times that you want for good to be in another's life
When you forget to wear your armor

There's a heart in you that loves
You just hide it for self protection
Buy you do show it to me
And I appreciate it each and every time

Touch and hold my heart
and i'll show you my loves endurance
it can stand strong and firm
even through your storms
It will be bright
Even if you're dark
It will be a step
When you need to reach up higher
it will be there to catch you
if ever you feel you are falling

because my love is unlike any other
it cemented in my knowledge
that you are such a precious thing
a treasure to never let go

She knows not
that I put that piece of my heart away
inside of a lockbox that day
that I put the key in a bottle
sealed it and left it to float out to sea

I hope that bottle returns to me one day
with a note inside that says
Come back to me
and love me again
It's time to come home
