I don’t understand politics
The comings and goings
The ups and the downs
And the ego crowing
The lies and deception
And covering things up
They yell and they scream
And each other interrupt
Let’s put a woman in charge
And see how things will change
To the women men will bow
Now, won’t that feel strange
Women care for their families
And can surely multi task
We can watch them live truth
Vulnerability to unmask
So if politicians could finally
Put away their war toys
And grow into men
Instead of little boys
And listen, really listen
To all that we say
We might finally have humans
Present for us everyday

Our world used to be a glorious place
Seen green and blue from outer space
And now the ice is disappearing
And water is scarce and animals endearing
Are disappearing and we ask why
And we turn inside out and with tears we cry
And we ask for some help, for changes to occur
And all we get are blank stares and end sight is a blur
And we wonder why now and what have we done wrong
And all that comes out is a plaintiff song
And we write to congress and we make our pleas
To bring back our flowers and all our bees
And on deaf ears our words do fall
And we try to make louder our earnest call
And we gather and talk and try to make amends
And no one answers and we continue to descend
Into images of destruction, a lost world, a lost cause
And we try to make changes and bring in new laws
And the words of great people are cried out in vain
As our great planet we try to contain
We plant trees, gather water, grow foods that are good
For the human race and the standards on which we stood
And the make-up we have won’t let us give up
Or get caught in a system that is so much corrupt
We will sing, we will dance, we’ll make a lot of noise
We will threaten to take away all their war toys
We’ll fall to our knees and beg ‘please, make things right’
And we know we will never give up on this fight
So come along with me to bring green back again
Removing the rot and the ugly, black stain
Fresh air and fresh water, healthy trees a plenty
Into action and away from what is just mentally
An exercise in futility into one that’s our future
Where people are conscious and able to nurture
A new generation with people who care
With trees and fresh water and lots of fresh air

Computer’s not working, my phone’s out of order
Repair man is here, he’s crossed over the border
Into no man’s land, where the power is weak
And in order to run he must give it a tweak
And here I am sitting just twiddling my thumbs
Needing to talk on the phone and jabber my gums
And still there’s no action, no way to call home
No wifi or signals or even Google Chrome
So I have to wait with patience, until he is done
I’m jumping up and down and that is no fun
Repair man please save me and make things just right
Put things back in place and the screws, make them tight
Give me back my TV, my WiFi and phone
I’ll find some more dollars, and even take a loan
So things can go back to normal, and work as before
Or you may find me passed out right here on the floor

Cleaning, scrubbing, putting things away
Have to get things clean before end of day
Flushing and washing and folding things up
Have to get food ready before time for sup
Washing the walls and folding the clothes
Have to finish before I start to doze
Hanging and watering and putting things right
Keeping to a schedule and holding it tight
Before you know it, the time will come
The trumpets will blast, and the drum will just drum
And I have to be finished, I’m all in a tisit
Because my mother is coming and staying for a visit

Hanging ivy overhead
Flowers blooming in their bed
I wish Spring could be forever
And winter? No,  no,no, no never
I love the warmth upon my head
The shining sun and I feel fed
My over boots and heavy coat
Are put away with a little note
So winter won’t come back too soon
I can stand outside and watch the moon
And take a summer swim in my pool
The summer breeze is not too cool
I laze around reading a book
Not much to do, nothing to cook
BBQ outside in summer weather
And flowers blooming on the heather
Mother Nature do you think
That winter could be over in a blink
And summer could stay forever more
In summer clothes, warm to the core

What if what we call dreaming
Is actually our true home?

What if our lives are just a giant video game
Played by people with a weird sense of humour?

What if we really don’t exist
Except in someone’s warped sense of justice?

What if Truth
Is just someone’s mind creation?

What if when we sleep
We are really living in another dimension?

What if what we call justice
Is really injustice to someone else?

What if what we think is proper
Is really improper?

What if we can’t know right from wrong
And it just gets skewered up in our fantasy?

What if life as we live it
Truly takes us nowhere?

and all along, we thought
that there was a right and wrong way to live
and that our lives depended on how we behave
and treating people with kindness was important
and that compassion played a role in who we are
and that we all have a purpose in life

What if there is no purpose
And, we are just here….now…..

Today
I decided to write a poem
To put words together
In such a way
As to express
My innermost feelings

And I lost the words
And my thoughts drifted
And my computer keys stuck
And nothing came forward

So
Perhaps tomorrow
I will write a poem
To express my life
And for today
Perhaps
I’ll just go
Outside
To play
