I'm Afraid of the Dark
Mercy Mar 2018
I’m afraid of the night
I’m afraid of the demons that have become more familiar than the angels
Because the angels always refuse to come
And the demons have this sweet way of embracing you
With the sweet caress of the noose
They watch you and tell you
Come with me.
I’m afraid of him
And everything he’s doing to me.
The days I’ve spent playing games with him
The days I’ve looked alive for him
But the model’s been dead
It’s why I’m awake
At 3 am
Running to the light
But tripping on the bodies
Drowning in the sea of her cigarettes and alcohol
Getting home is a marathon
And I just can’t breathe anymore.
