i miss you
clixdhna Mar 2020
i miss the way we used to garden.
when all of our worries were the weeds and fallen petals.
i miss the way you used to speak french.
so soft, and perfect. it excited me to learn all you knew.
i miss the way you watched antique shows every morning, and i'd watch them with you
even though they bored me.
i miss the way you read your penguin books as i lay next to you on days when i was sick.
i miss the way you used to talk.
i miss the way you used to know me.

Something as simple as reading a poem of yours can bring me back in time.
I feel as though i am a 12 year old girl again,
Coming home from school and texting you.
Hiding my phone from my mother because I don't want her to see the reason why I'm smiling so much at it.
The first stages of falling in love with you, before I even really knew you, before I even knew how to love.
When I read a poem you have written, I feel like that little girl again.
The feelings come flooding back, for just a split second.
Until I finish the poem, and I zone back out of my childhood daydream, and I realise that your poems are about another girl now, so why are my daydreams still about you?
