I promise to only run my hands
along the length of your body, just for a moment.
I will gather all the memorable parts of you
the first time,
so I don’t waste the grace you’ve given me.

I will let my hands explore
the best of you—
so that when I’m asked
how I imagine the universe was created,
I can mold a lump of clay
into the mountains and valleys
your hips draw from.

I’ll sketch the bareness of your flesh
as it was in the light—
soft, springy,
yielding beneath my touch.

And now,
I will speak acceptance
into the space between us,
for the thought of never touching you again
is a promise I must keep.

.
I do not know if you recognize the sparkle in your eyes,

There is a warmth, in the same way the sun breaks through blinds in the morning,

In how subtly it fills the room with a rose-colored haze.

I know it’s not polite to stare into them forever, but if given the chance, I would chart every hue of your eyes-
an eon of swatches so,
So I never run out of names for forever.

I want to kiss you. Just this once.
I promise to not linger or ask you to reconsider indulging me once more.
I just must know if the intensity in my belly is all in my head or if the act of kissing you is as life altering as I believe.
I want to kiss you even if it means this the last time we ever meet.

I would break my own heart repeatedly if it means I get to wander through life pouring this love I have conjured into people.

I will ensure that you know I am so overcome with the ability to love. It has never been hard and I find that to be the best thing I can offer to this world.

I want to love you. I want to love you. I want to love you with no expectation that you will love me back.

Only a hope that when you are ready to love again, I get to witness it.
