Barefoot on the deck
She walks barefoot on the deck
the wind touches her hair
lite up by the moon golden brown
with a streak of yellow
tightly holding the ships rail
she stares at the calm sea
a tear falls from her cheek
crashes into the sea
a storm brews
calmed by a voice calling her name
she looks and smiles
and follows her tear
The book I started to read filled me with hope and tears of joy
I remembered with excitement thinking, I could have been that boy

As the pages turned, my excitement diminished and the boy was, no-more
I continued to read his story but not with the same gusto as before

Until it came to light there was a girl who filled his dreams
Who loved him as much as I did, or so it seems?

As the pages turned with sadness, she took a leading part
Then as the last page turned, we both died of a broken heart

So, I closed the book and wiped away my tears of grief
Loathing the author who stole my heart, the ***** thief

The life that I have
The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours.

The love that I have
Or the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause.

For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.

A Graveyard
What is it that attracts us to graveyards
is it the quiet? or the scent of flowers?
No it's the people
the names were real people
the dates were real lifetimes
the messages from children to parents
are heart warming and heart breaking
now the children's names are etched
by the children of the children
and the messages from their children
are as warm and sad as the first
as life goes on
we wounder as we observe
who will write our message
so much love in the messages
carved into stone
gives it a peace
you will only find in
the quiet of
A Graveyard

Even Panda’s Dream
I sit alone amongst the bamboo shoots
Nibbling all day down to the roots

I sigh and look up into the air
I wish I was a polar bear

They play in the snow, swim, hunt fish
Much tastier than a bamboo dish

Then again, I could be a Two-toed sloth
Or spinning around a candle like a Luna moth

Maybe I’ll just sit here and fill my boot
Nibbling all day on these bamboo roots
A bit like retirement;)

You can feel the hatred in the street
so many shades off tapping feet
anger boils over feel the heat

Don’t stare at the faces just a glance
or you’ll be dangling on an executioners lance
a Harikrishna dances his last dance
singing let’s give love one more chance

Authority surveys this squalled place
draws truncheons tasers and mace
life is trampled in the race
as tears run down a child’s face

The sun will shine again!
I feel as if I'm walking in endless rain
I know it will blow over but I'm tired
and long for the sun again
I lean on a tree for shelter
and it reminds me it too is drowning
as the leaves empty on to me
at the shudder of my body resting

A cloud covers me
I feel I should give up, then
a warmth touches my neck
I look up
the clouds are racing apart
glimpses of blue heighten my senses
a bird sings
as the rain drops glisten in the sunlight
still dripping happily I walk
in the endless sunshine

I new I would make it:)
We all have gloomy days, the sun will shine again.
The streets were deserted no vermin in sight
which was rather odd as it was the dead of the night

So I took my chances and ran up the street
my phone made a buzzing , I received a tweet

The young Gazelle dance in the morning sun
The Mothers wait for the evening to come

The lion cubs fight, but all in fun
The Mother waits for the food run

A meal is caught, taste deaths smell
A last breath drawn from a young Gazelle

Chariots on fire
I sent you my love on a chariot of fire
Yet this was not enough to get your desire

So I sent you my love on a heart shaped balloon
You burst it with a pin, was my love sent too soon

I held back my affections and let you stew for awhile
Peace at last you said with the broadest of a smile

Then I gathered my thoughts for my next love attack
But the voice on my shoulder said "She's not interested Jack

So I sat in the garden pondering the path in my life
I thought maybe these girls are just trouble and strife

Then phone rang in my pocket I trembled with fear
Are you doing anything later?" No", good, fancy a beer

So off down the pub I went with my good old mate
This is much more civilised than going on a date

But there in the corner hiding behind a large wooden post
Was the love of my life with a face like a ghost

The penny dropped loudly I could now see the light
Should I roll over like a good dog or put up a fight

Again he came to my rescue my reliable good mate
Cheers, hears to the future Jack, believe in your fate

So now I look back on my close call with the broadest of a smile
Mate, If you smell chariots on fire, my advice, run a mile
And so the destruction of society is upon us
our leaders are lost
Blame is the only way out
and if that fails war will follow

We have a destiny to follow and our destiny
always ends in destruction
Which will make way for the opportunist to say
follow me I can make us great again

But we never were, we were just followers
following the path of our destiny
Lead by the opportunist
to our ultimate destruction

Can our children show us the light?

Our sacrifice
I weep at the coalface, a day in the life
the smiles of our children and my dear loving wife

Dreams of happier times, the seaside the sand
the laughter the joy as we all walked hand in hand

But here I lay at the coal face a day in the life of my demise
I will miss my dear children and those innocent loving eyes

Please, don’t shed a tear for I have not died here alone
16 martyred men and boys will not make it home

Tis good company I’ll keep now, to ease my sad pain
Happier times I look forward to, when we at last meet again

Carve my name
I whittled away quietly at life
understanding my limits
and sometimes overstretching
but I always learned on that path
once on the right path I quickly moved on
and never looked back
Quietly people noticed me
which was daunting and exciting
so, I whittled some more
learning from my peers
I expanded their experiences
and my confidence grew
until I met love
which is worldly but solitary also
I whittled some more
but quickly realised
WE needed to whittle together
we did
understanding our needs
separate and whole
became a new challenge
but love conquers all
our whittling complete
our names now carved

Parenthood began
we whittled away quietly at life

Dafydd ap Gwilym
The traveling poet in the wilds of sleepy Wales
dined on berries, leaks and maybe some snails
He told his stories of liberation as he beat on his drum
counted his pennies of adoration, a now princely sum

This poets not just a poet he's a famed Welsh Bard
stirs up politics for the masses, when times are so hard
Rallies the people with opportunity for a country to rebel
But, who will lead us he hears the angry voices yell

In Glyndwr a hero arose, woke up a nation to fight
when the battles was over, disappeared out of site
Tis what legends are made of that rallies the poor
But think twice when the poet comes knocking your door

After the anxiousness
comes the excitement
then the passion
and of course the pride
the prospect follows a win
and belief close behind
the anxiousness raises its head again
calmed by the excitement
and pride that the whole world is watching
the passion never wanes
even after the defeat
memories of your journey
and love for the people who nurtured you
and the friends you've made
and most of all the players who made it possible
we'll meet again
but, now is the hour for me to say goodbye.

Closer and closer
What are we doing wrong said the dolphin to the whale as he splashes in the water chasing his tail
The sea's are getting warmer and the food chain is beginning to fail
the dolphin listens worryingly and forgets about his tail

Is there anything we can do, can we change and put things right?
No' It's the humans we have to rely on to fight the worlds plight

Then we're helpless said the dolphin as he sinks to meet his doom
his body floated silently in the shadow of the moon

O' look said the human what's that bobbing on the sea
O' don't worry about it darling it's nothing to do with you or me!

The end..... is nigh

Time for peace
Do not go gentle until this goodnight
Rage at the battles you must fight
Deliver the lost souls to see the light
Rage, Rage, Rage with all your might

Then when your goodnight comes in sight
Pass your rage to those who have seen the light
They will take the baton and carry the fight
Go gentle in peace to your goodnight

Then when called, speak gentle if you might
For all the peace lovers, who carry the fight
Their banners and gathering will be a sight
As they turn lost souls gently to the light

So they can go gently into their goodnight

Dancing alone
I danced to your tune and time just past away
Your head on my shoulder as we started to sway
We both sang the same tune and we sang it out loud
two lovers two friends that stood out in the crowd

Then your head left my shoulder and you started to stare
I was dancing alone you were dancing elsewhere
I felt a tap on my shoulder as you smiled and pulled away
we never dance again since the heart breaking day

But I'm dancing again and the music is loud
I see you standing alone away from the crowd
Then my head left her shoulder as I started to stare
my body was her's but my heart was elsewhere

Then I remembered that feeling on that heart braking day
I held her so closely and promised to stay
Then the music stopped playing it was time to go home
In the middle of the dance floor I was dancing alone

The Welsh Harp
Slowly you meander through the streets
your skips turn to dance on the village green
where your partner spins you to a stop
dancing amongst the clouds as your feet start to tap

Your heart is torn between love and death
love wins for now smiling you kiss him hello
tears fall now you must kiss him goodbye
as your feet start to tap

Dancing and smiling you wave at the crowds
disappearing in the mountain mist but never alone
you lay on the sun kissed hill dreaming of love
in the music you have found it as your feet start to tap

I threw it away
I finished my drink on a hot summer’s day
The container all spent, I threw it away
While walking the beach on a hot summer’s day
The container all spent came back the very next day

Amused at my find on that hot summer’s day
No use for anything, so I threw it away
Children were watching, ecological they say
So I collected the ******* I’d just throw away

Watching me closely on a day they’d normally play
I carried my container I’d once threw away
I placed it in a bin where it will now lay
Then turned to the children who were now busy at play

Then I spied a young person on that hot summer’s day
With an empty container he was about to throw away
I drew in my breath and was about loudly to say
But he walked up to the bin and that’s were it will now lay

So I’ll follow the code of my new ecological way
When my container is spent, I’ll not throw it away

What about you?

She was sat, crying, blood dripping from her lip
she looked at me, pool cue laying at her side
blood on the handle.

Time to talk!!
So, the battle continued man against man their arms of destruction
sets their manhood free.

The women and children died as they flee!

Whole cities were raised back to the ground machines rained missiles at one press of the hand.

As democracy wavers, to one last stand!

Will there be a winner who's right who's wrong just neighbors who argued then one's lost the plot.

Do we know who fired the very first shot?

So many pieces to be picked up so many scattered around
so many lives in turmoil comforted in prayer we live in hope that peace can be found.

Or the future looks grim whether the hare or the hound!

Njord
Just a ripple lapped the keel as we silently rocked
hanging limp the flax, wool sail, waiting

Our gods are sleeping said our Gothi
we covered him with hateful stares
Awake him said our leader clasping his Ulfberth
the Gothi summoned Njord

This was the seventh day of the sun, too weak to row
slowly we sacrificed each other to the gods, waiting

The Gothi was next struck by the hand holding the Ulfberth
it was night time that the madness took over
throats were slit their blood painted on the faces
only the strongest survived still grasping tight my Ulfbreth

Yes I am alone to tell you this tale of when Njord deserted us
what could we have done to anger him, we are Vikings
I challenged him as I prepare for Valhalla, what do you want of me

This is when I became Freyr son of Njord
with my last breath I fill the sail
the clouds gathered rain swept my brow the sea rolled to life
Peace and fertility will be your virtue, son of Njord, welcome
Lots of Viking stuff on TV at the moment, gets you thinking.

I'd take you anywhere you'd like to be
as long as we're together just you and me

When I grow up I'd like my life
to be full of happiness devoid of strife
We'd sit and reminisce about good times we had
the greatest of course being a new mum and dad

When I grow up I'd like time to stand still
like walking the zigzag to the top of the hill
and when we get there we'd hold hands a last kiss
and remember the good times we will now surely miss

He told me stories of his youth
while we sat close to the burning fire
The wood crack loudly as the coal turned red
and the chimney ****** the embers higher and higher

He told me stories of the ghosts that scamper about in the dark night
he met one once on the way to the loo that turned his hair bright white
And then the time he was fetching coal when he was just a boy of ten
and in the morning walking to the coop to collect breakfast from mother hen

My granddad and his stories who I still love so very much
At home time, he would kiss me smile and say, see you tomorrow, “last touch”

O, the stories he told me I remember to this day
And still rue the time of our lives when all granddads are taken away

The mountain spring
The cycle of water is parallel to time. Your life, your death,
your rebirth

The time it takes for the tiny
Seep to slowly become a mountain spring

A spring to become a babbling brook
A brook to create a flowing stream

A stream speedily racing into a river
A river raging into the sea

A sea engulfed by the world’s oceans of time

Currents pushing you to places you’ve never seen
Waiting for evaporation to draw you up into the clouds

Gathering high above hills and mountains
Falling as rain seeping deep under ground
Waiting

Life is the mountain spring encouraging you forward to begin
your journey

Death is the oceans waiting for the clouds to gather you up and restart your journey again
