The mermaids tail
The water looked inviting
so I dipped in my toe
I swam in a circle
                             no particular place to go
The current then gripped me
so I went with the flow

I heard the mermaid sing her song of love how could it fail
she was beckoning me with her tail
Follow me she smiled as she swam out of site
The current dragged me the other way to my delight
I swam and swam into the night until I heard the siren wail
Don't dip your toe watery delight or be beckoned by her tail

The humans are gone
The earth is replenishing now the humans are gone
They strive for perfection what could go wrong

They introduced riches to share with the poor and the needy
got infected by greed the then became the greedy

Then they broke every commandment and every set rule
they scourged the earth just by playing the fool

Scientist became gods changing our evolution
got it wrong every time but found a new solution

The end came so quick, just a cough or a sneeze
brought the human race tumbling down to its knees

So the moral of the story as the sun brightly shone
life will be much simpler now the humans have gone

Until morning
The sun has sets and the evening begins
the plants breath deeply in the cool air
As the dying light, lights them up one last time
the bees and butterflies hover for one last taste
In the still evening air you can hear the trees rustle
with the gentle breeze rushing west
The light turns into night and a new story is played out
stars twinkle finding their place in the dark sky
A bright moon rises and lights up the shadows
as they dance in the gardens catching ones eye
The garden now belong to the night folk
So, I bid it good night until morning
I'm cooking a meal for the girl of my dreams
she thinks I'm useless but that's just how it seems
She doesn't eat eggs, cheese or meat
so I'm scouring the cook book for a tasty treat
Page 24 a special vegan surprise
A creamy spiced lentil curry that will water ones eyes
The cooker is on and the timer is ticking
wine in the fridge, I've started finger licking
So, when will we find out if I'm a hit or a miss
Yes you've guessed it, by the time you read this

Love can be so fickle
I remember the first time I looked into your eyes
they were so friendly
I remember the first time our future shaped our lives
I followed freely
Then as we became one I grew to know you
some things I ignored
Then the things I ignored became you
and we became two
In the end I looked into your eyes and knew
I never really knew you
In the end did I really love you
love can be so fickle

Tiger Bay
Steam ships cue at the docks sailors waiting for their pay
Coal tips from the trams as children watch and play
Wives and lovers watching from the dock as the coal ships sail away
Husbands and lovers wave goodbye never to return to Tiger Bay
The book I started to read filled me with hope and tears of joy
I remembered with excitement thinking, I could have been that boy

As the pages turned, my excitement diminished and the boy was, no-more
I continued to read his story but not with the same gusto as before

Until it came to light there was a girl who filled his dreams
Who loved him as much as I did, or so it seems?

As the pages turned with sadness, she took a leading part
Then as the last page turned, we both died of a broken heart

So, I closed the book and wiped away my tears of grief
Loathing the author who stole my heart, the ***** thief

Twit Twoo
Watched by owls alone after dark
down that lonely country path
                                   Twit twoo
I heard a rustling in the hedge
then a shadow crossed my way
                                     Twit twoo
I saw a figure running out in the open field
I heard the branches creak then a woosh
                                      Twit twoo
A silent shadow swooped down
then a cry of death was heard
                                       Twit twoo
I ran the rest of my way home
then locked myself in tight
Then wounder what poor creature
would not be home tonight

Just doing his job?
He wore camouflaged Khaki he carried an AK gun
His world ruled with fear, no hearts here were won
Her face, the tears, a single rose for her only son
Her home destroyed by fear, the only option was to run
"War what is it good for...."

So happy so sad
How will I be remember for the life that I've had
I look back smiling, so happy so sad
The people I really care for they will not forget
They'll remember with a smile and be happy we met
People on the periphery what will the say
"Yes, I remember his name back in the day"
So, back to the question about the life that I've had
I remember it for being so happy and that's why I'm so sad

The good Samaritan
She was sat, crying, blood dripping from her lip
she looked at me, pool cue laying at her side
blood on the handle.
He hit me she cried.
I was enraged at the thought
grabbed the cue and walked inside.
He was laying on the floor
blood pooled from his open head
breathless
me standing over him
pool cue in hand looking enraged.
She walked in and screamed,
others followed.

Should  I run??

Be confident
That morning came so quickly
I've planned for this I thought
Be confident in yourself
I can do it
The morning turned to afternoon
I smiled as I emerged
How did I do that
I'm so proud of myself

I don't know if I could do that again
I can of course I can
Be confident in yourself
I can do it, I did it

Please come visit, soon!
The three kings rode into town with frankincense and myrrh
in the distance they heard a baby's cry, yet not a soul did stir

It brought them to the cattle shed the sight could not be stranger
a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes asleep in a cattle manger

Your destiny was already written your life will save mankind
a legacy of love and hope is what you'll leave behind

But, that was 2000 years ago you tried to cleanse the world of sin
If you're ready for another visit, I think this time you'll win

We've tried to obey all your rules but they've got lost in translation
Not just one or two of us but every worldly nation

We look again into the sky for a sign, three kings, a kind stranger
And we're checking all the cow sheds to see what's in the manger

So when your ready to recruit, we'll all be your congregation
We'll make this world a better place for the people of every nation

The seventh wave
As the tide turned
history was re-written
the victors wrote their name in the sand
and the losers washed out to sea
all was calm or so it seemed
the wind whipped up
white horses charged in a line
at the sand, full of castles, standards flying
children pointing
nothing was spared by the seventh wave
A day at the beach

Watching over you
There was a moment in my life I just smiled, just because
And the moment of my life I was happy at who I was

Then the moment in my life that we all get if we live that long
The saddest moment of my life, I lived and sang that old sad song

I remember the moment in my life the clouds broke and drifted away
Was the moment of my life I looked back and heard you say

Don’t look back upon your life with sadness and despaired
Walk the paths you have to walk if you need me, I will be there

A Graveyard
What is it that attracts us to graveyards
is it the quiet? or the scent of flowers?
No it's the people
the names were real people
the dates were real lifetimes
the messages from children to parents
are heart warming and heart breaking
now the children's names are etched
by the children of the children
and the messages from their children
are as warm and sad as the first
as life goes on
we wounder as we observe
who will write our message
so much love in the messages
carved into stone
gives it a peace
you will only find in
the quiet of

Can you, remember a dream?
I awoke one morning from a powerful dream
my brain all flustered as if powered by steam
The images so haunting they had to be saved in word
my imagination could not write it, how absurd
As my pen hovered over my empty note book
should my dream be told, could I be mistook
Then my powerful dream emptied into the cold morning air
left me saddened and empty and full of despair
                                    BUT
I look at it as not a crash, but a very close miss
Because I wouldn't of been able to entertained you by writing this

A smoke filled bar
The mood swung
as the door burst its hinges
they stared one hand hidden
he smiled both hands on his hips
the bar tender rested his towel on the bar
slowly reaching
the smoke cleared enough to recognise him
Is this the Pink Elephant the drag Queen screamed
the crowd screamed back with excitement
the bar tender grabbed the key for the changing room
your late, he said
No your impatient said the Queen, with a wink

The rich are always late!
Excuse me said the lady with the white frilled blouse and long black skirt, top off with a large white feather on a musketeers hat.
His eyes swept from bottom to top and back again, Yes, said the man in the ticket booth.
The train, steam tumbling out of its funnel was ready to go Pheee Pheee went its cry.
Is that my train said the woman handing over her ticket, I thought I was late!
NO, said the eyes behind the black hat named 'Great Western Railway' your on platform 6, that train is on platform 7.
O' what time does my train leave?
5 minuets ago:) you are late!
A smile cracked over his face, reveling few teeth.

A life in the day
I move around a bit, the streets are now my home
I watch people talking to the air, as if they're on their phone
Some people look at me, sigh, and then they wonder why
I'd tell them if they stayed long enough and look them in the eye
On the plus side I have no bills pay or buy petrol for the car
The doors of opportunity are still open? or maybe just ajar
The nights, I can tell you stories about the nights while your tucked safe in your bed
When all the lights in this downtown City turn a dodge shade of red
So, I keep my head down until the morning, when the bin men loudly arrive
Count the money spread out on my mat and thank God I'm still alive
You see, I lost everything dear to me, now I'm destitute and alone
That's why I move around a bit, and the street are now my home

Granddad
He told me stories of his youth
while we sat close to the burning fire
The wood crack loudly as the coal turned red
and the chimney ****** the embers higher and higher

He told me stories of the ghosts that scamper about in the dark night
he met one once on the way to the loo that turned his hair bright white
And then the time he was fetching coal when he was just a boy of ten
and in the morning walking to the coop to collect breakfast from mother hen

My granddad and his stories who I still love so very much
At home time, he would kiss me smile and say, see you tomorrow, “last touch”

O, the stories he told me I remember to this day
And still rue the time of our lives when all granddads are taken away

The fairy flower
The snowdrops are sleeping and the daffodils all spent
you look across the rolling fields amazed at what spring has sent

The wild blue bell a vibrant but such tender a flower
carpets the earth in a haze of blue with all its earthly power
nodding heads on tender stems ever so slightly bent
blows in the breeze so gentle scattering wide its fragrant scent

To lay with blue bells feel the sun and hear the song birds sing
a spell of truth cannot be broken when you wear the fairies ring

Signs of summer
Tulips gone over but the rose buds are full
A field full of heifers and a drooling mad bull

Sat in the summer house with a favorite book
Tadpoles busy in the still mountain brook

A pint in the beer garden, make your call on the phone
Sorry love still in work I'll be a little late home

Lovers giggling in the high hay loft
Butter in the butter dish gone soft

A holiday brochure, licence to travel
Head in your hands,  best deals to unravel

Just hold out your hand
I'm falling
so fast
you held out your hand
I tried
falling is so tiring
you caught me
your eyes were lit
I smiled
we clime together
the top is so far away
you held out your hand

Saved for another day
Down at the bottom of the Tylwyth Teg wood
by the felled great oak, among the hog **** and blue
bells, close your eyes, look, look, you're there now, can you see it
just under the bending branch, the sun casts it's shadow among the dead leaves, the Bwbach.
Its looking up at the song bird, sat high in the willow singing elegies of time gone by
look, look a tear runs down its cheek, as it sits there alone.
Quiet, don't move, it's pointing up, up there at the sky
Where, where to? there's nothing there
No, there's nothing there just a canvas for your imagination,
use it wisely! said the voice of the Bwbach.

Our sacrifice
I weep at the coalface, a day in the life
the smiles of our children and my dear loving wife

Dreams of happier times, the seaside the sand
the laughter the joy as we all walked hand in hand

But here I lay at the coal face a day in the life of my demise
I will miss my dear children and those innocent loving eyes

Please, don’t shed a tear for I have not died here alone
16 martyred men and boys will not make it home

Tis good company I’ll keep now, to ease my sad pain
Happier times I look forward to, when we at last meet again

In the mercy of his means
Iv'e walked your path
I envy you not
The journey you're on
the world has forgot

You will walk through meadows
and fields of gold
You will still not believe
the words you'll be told

But you'll gather your thought
down at the old wishing well
Will you survive
only time will tell

You see time has a reason
it's brought you to this place
It's to remind you your a member
of a delicate human race

So
Use your time wisely

Time to talk!!
So, the battle continued man against man their arms of destruction
sets their manhood free.

The women and children died as they flee!

Whole cities were raised back to the ground machines rained missiles at one press of the hand.

As democracy wavers, to one last stand!

Will there be a winner who's right who's wrong just neighbors who argued then one's lost the plot.

Do we know who fired the very first shot?

So many pieces to be picked up so many scattered around
so many lives in turmoil comforted in prayer we live in hope that peace can be found.

Or the future looks grim whether the hare or the hound!

And the world looked on
And the world looked on
remembering tales of death and destruction
from parents and grand parents
Sacrifices made by so many so we would not suffer
"They shall not grow old"

"lease we forget"

One man did

women and children are dying
"Age shall not weary them"
are we just going to watch
"At the going down of the sun, and in the morning"

And the world looked on
And so the destruction of society is upon us
our leaders are lost
Blame is the only way out
and if that fails war will follow

We have a destiny to follow and our destiny
always ends in destruction
Which will make way for the opportunist to say
follow me I can make us great again

But we never were, we were just followers
following the path of our destiny
Lead by the opportunist
to our ultimate destruction

Can our children show us the light?

Dafydd ap Gwilym
The traveling poet in the wilds of sleepy Wales
dined on berries, leaks and maybe some snails
He told his stories of liberation as he beat on his drum
counted his pennies of adoration, a now princely sum

This poets not just a poet he's a famed Welsh Bard
stirs up politics for the masses, when times are so hard
Rallies the people with opportunity for a country to rebel
But, who will lead us he hears the angry voices yell

In Glyndwr a hero arose, woke up a nation to fight
when the battles was over, disappeared out of site
Tis what legends are made of that rallies the poor
But think twice when the poet comes knocking your door

Lover’s in the park
And still the lovers in the park
hold hands
and laugh among the daffodils who
light up their path
as the birds sing their lovers song
They catch each other’s eye
and smile, that lovers smile
walking among the great Oaks, Hazel
and Cherry blossom
teasing the senses
of every lover’s breath
a gift from Mother Earth
And still the lovers in the park
hold hands
Started tidying up the plant pots
and made a friend of  a robin
Who danced down the decking a bob bob bobbin

The worms heard him coming
and hurried out of site
All exect the biggest one who quickly died of fright

With all the commotion on the ground, only seen from above
we had a few more visitors, a sparrows and a dove
Quickly joined by collard one, yes, they fell in love

The mood got a little darker
as the carrion crows flew in
Sat in rows upon the fence eyeing up the bin

They scattered as the cat arrived, he jumped upon my knee
looked at me all smiley faced
And said is it time for tea?

Live every day....
It was sunrise on that date
etched on my gravestone

If only I knew

What a day yesterday
might have been
Looking out of my boat house at the wonder of the sea
The words of how to describe it, just evades me

The words rush in and then out like the tide
Happy children laughing and playing all along the seaside

Blue boats just bobbing as they have little choice
Alert lifeguards, start shouting with that big warning voice

In the rocks by the corner just around the bay
I hear seals cry for their young who are indulging at play

Sea birds take flight and glide with such ease
Then dive for the sandwich of brown bread and cheese

So, back to my wonder of describing the sea
Indulge me a little longer I’ll get it you’ll see

I’ll take a walk in the sand and maybe collect a few shells
Watch the buoys on the horizon ringing their bells

Kick off my shoes and maybe my socks
Paddle in the pools among the ***** and the rocks

Then, I hear a voice calling “it’s gone five, time for tea”
I’ll have to come back tomorrow, promise, and describe what I see

I don't know how to say this, but, you know!
He said, as my stomach tightened
May be we should have a break?
He said, as my hands lifted out of my pockets.
It will be good for us, don't you think!?
He said, as a smirk broadened my face.
What do you think. He said,??
F* off I said
So, he did
And he was right, I feel great!
In the words of a poet on a great Paris street
The man shuffled and danced by just moving his feet
Then he uncorked a bottle of Bordeaux red
And walked around with two glasses balanced on his head
The crowd gasped and screamed with bated alarm
As he placed a white napkin over his arm
He then spied two lovers arm in arm at a table
Stretched up for the two glasses while flashing his navel
He poured the red wine with aplomb and such grace
Then watch a broad smile cover each lovers face
His job was done by just moving his feet
So he shuffled and danced down a great Paris street

Why
Today was the day he decided to end it all
peace was with him, for awhile
Then he got to look back at the grief the heart ache
the despair he left behind
And the wave of love toward his family that followed
gladdened him, he changed his mind

To late said the hand on his shoulder, your bed is made
they will have to re-make it everyday for the rest of their lives
He pleaded it was in a moment of self pity
I know said the hand I am that thing
Come and meet my following
We are many
All trapped
In death
Alone
Heard today that a friend of a friends husband decide to end it. Why?
