Death I have faced it
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
It stands on two legs
Beating heart in the chest
Eyes of flames posses
It whispers sweet words
Into innocent ear
Recognizing honor
In the form of blood and death

Death I have faced it
It appears in the guise of a smile
Identity concealed
By a beckoning shroud

The penetrating leer
I no longer fear
Its cold embrace
Or touch of forever sleep
This invitation I have refused

Still it waits
At my rebellious nature and wit
Quite amused
I have done battle before with this darkness of man
Death
I have faced it

Winds of Sin
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Its putrid smell
Your secrets deep
To all will tell

Thick sweet scent
Composed of evil and blood
The winds blew seeking its victim
Comes the faceless demon on a fiery horse

Twisting black breezes
Race at a madman's pace
Cast monstrous shadows across the sky
Revealing the answer to questioning eyes
The soul was swallowed by its own lies

Do not wait
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Do not wait for a call
That will never come
There will be no ringing
Or songs of love by angels sung

Dont destroy your self
For one whose affection is cruel
Avoid allowing your soul to be lost
In a hole of regret and red raindrops
Heavy and terrible is the cost

Never give your all
Or there will be nothing left
No shining tomorrows
Only despair and sorrow
An empty dial tone
Do not wait

That frightens you away
Or the words bleeding down my face
That love bound cannot say

The crying in my soul
Only goodness hear
The beating of my heart
Crimson flames
Forcing you oh so near

The darkness in my soul
Birthed from the fountain of sadness
I kneel and drink with little regret
Willingly
From the puddle of madness

Is it the darkness in my soul
That frightens you away
Or deaths reflection in my eyes
The words you cannot say

Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809–1892)

NOW sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The fire-fly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now droops the milkwhite peacock like a ghost,         5
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Danaë to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me.         10

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the ***** of the lake:
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my ***** and be lost in me.

Broken Bones
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
Never heal
When examined closely
Cracks compounded
Are very real

Broken heart
Unstoppable tears
Painful memories of violence rendered
Etched in the mind
For many years

Splintered soul
Quiet
Silent and with drawn
Gaze into the solitary face
A lonely song
Broken bones

I Build the Walls
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
I build the walls
Higher and higher
Counting the secs
Every minute
Every hour

I construct my jail
Block by block
Marking the time
The click of life's clock

Surrounding my barred prison
With bog and mire
Inside this black circle
A blue ring of fire

Cementing the cracks
***** by *****
Always contemplating
As I close my self in

Now my barbed towers kiss the sky
As many know me
No longer question why

I build the walls
Higher and higher
Counting the secs
Every minute
Every hour

The Darkness of the Night
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
A cry of a lone bird in the blackness
Silence
Stillness
This is my world

Of glaring sunlight it is devoid
Its message of rejuvenation rejected
My soul an empty void
Shunning all that lives in light
My world is the darkness of night

Ouestioning  eyes
I care not to see
My answers to the brazen curious
I try to refrain from giving
For I will offer no quarter
They would be cutting and direct

I have shuttered my emotions
Seeking only the calm and cool of the dark
I chose to ignore this beating  heart
The glowing brightness they call life
Withdrawing to the shadows of my world
And the darkness of the night

The Music of Sleep
Tammy M Darby Sep 2015
Zephyr winds bade me follow
To the black coolness of the night
Do bear my souls sum
Call forth the God Apollo
Upon his lyre strum

Pray the voices of nine muses
A lullaby to soothe me
As a willing soul
I open the box of sleep

May the son of Hermes
Lively cloven hoof centaur Pan
Join me in sweet slumber
Birds song on pipes
Of hollowed stem reed

Through shadows of Pluto I pass
As I sail into Neptune's blue green oceans deep
Hear the wails of the lemur's sorrow
Song of poor Orpheus love and plight
Gently wake me on the morrow

Hardly ever spoken
No one understands
Or in my descriptive verse
The tongue of those who toil
Language of the common man

Perhaps I will conjure up eighteen letter words
That no one bothers to read
To portray myself as cultured
Intelligent
Or write to impress using rhymes extinct

An artist of words
I shall say what I know and feel
Poetry written from the soul
That can be touched
Tasted and real

Instead of ancient unknown letters on paper
Carelessly discarded sooner or later
For the elite of mind easily bored
Seek to read more jaded material

Monetary gain being of no consideration
No compensation sought
Painting pictures of life in actuality
A presentation of a poets thoughts

Doing my best to let my stories be heard
Carefully pick and choose
I will speak in the tongue of the everyday man
Instead of words rarely used

Clouds of the Night
Tammy M Darby Dec 2014
Betrayal dropped from trusted lips
Into a deep velvet void
Love broken did slip.

Buttoned up
With cursed needle sewn tight
Blue skies were saturated
With clouds of the night

Till came a day
Aged and worn
Caught on a smile
The pocket was torn

Spreading shiny white wings
Love bolted and took flight
Never again to be graced
By clouds of the night.

If you Loved me
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
With waiting arms
Catch me if I fell
Down the tunnel of past my soul plunge
Into depression's cold deep well

Dry the tears
That lay on my cheeks
Caress my lips ever lightly
Offer a lovers embrace

Calm me
With tender words
When life becomes too much to bear
Tiny stitches sew with kindness
To mend my poor hearts tear

Place your hand in mine
Affection's gift without cost
Brave the dungeon of dark shadows
Should I stumble and become lost

Cast a net of sparkling stars
Across me as I sleep
Guard me from monsters of sadness
If in my slumber weep

If you loved me

The Death Train
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
The death train rolls
With no pity
Down cursed tracks
Carrying living ghosts
Minds soon to be dead
Ribs visibly seen
Mouths slack

To the camps of starvation
Unbearable cruelty
Poisonous smoke
Degradation
God pity them
Their final destination

The said offense marked
By yellow star on their sleeve
Little madman's condemnation
The *****’s ideology consumed them
A strategic genocide campaign

The Death train rolls
Bearer of doomed souls
Their ticket of forever
Tears and blood
Flow in streams on the ground
When the Death train rolls around

I live in a world of fantasy
Not caring to dangle my feet
Into the fountain of reality
The waters of life offer no joy
To a soul that has retreated to another plane

It is true I am reclusive
At times irritating
Extremely elusive
I confess
I am unconventional
As most poets are somewhat eccentric
This I am sure you already know

In truth I am an artist of letters
Mixing and stirring words around
Emerging the vision comes forth
Magician of ink and paper
As I write it ****** the imagination

So it is I live in a world of fantasy
A movement of my pen into structured paragraph
The colors are there for all to see
A picture of anything they desire it to be
My strange world of fantasy

The thoughts in my mind
Tammy M Darby Oct 2013
Danced to and fro keeping time
Coercing voices of the past
Threatened to pull me down
Into a void of darkness
Where they have chosen to lie

Banishing hope with mere words
In its place unending pain
The weight of sadness lay like stone
Tears of mortals
Emotion produced rain

It is a war between the good and bad
The psychotic thoughts in my mind
Ideas I sometimes entertain late at night
Would send chills down your spine
My brain a struggle between discipline and reality
In control of my frail being
The conscious and sane faction

I decline the song of the seductive voices
That call from the echoing pit
Ghostly sirens of fading time
As they dance to and fro
In a frenzied pace
To the maniacal thoughts in my mind

What is that you seek?
Tammy M Darby Dec 2016
In the dimensions of your mind
Passions depth unfathomable as the raging seas
Love never ending across the vast universe and time?

What is it you seek?
In the obscurity of your dreams
A utopian false existence,
An unrealistic thirsting need?

What is it that you seek?
Perhaps blood payment,
For the plunge of the knife.
The continuous chaos,
Of an involuntary imposed life.
What is it that you seek?

Wealth and diamonds beyond all the tell.
Rings of red rubies as in the stories of forever and always,
Crowns of scrolled silver and bangles of yellow gold.
As the heart blindly searches for the answer,
What is it that you seek?

A thousand kisses
You did pledge
Turn to tears in my bed

A thousand kisses
A thousand lies
Lay before me
Dark truth
Dawning skies

A thousand kisses
A thousand blows
The pain of love that no one knows
Except the victim
A thousand kisses

I will take from you
That which you love the most
One extraction at a time
Premeditated
Slow

Demons howl
Cold winds blow
Starting with what encompasses all

Down you go
There you lay
No surgeon’s knife
Will cure this malaise

Tilting your head
Watching the clock
Your soul shrivels
Body rots

I shall kiss you on the head
Bid you farewell
And meet you at the gates of hell

Down you go

If my heart ceases to beat
Cold in now lifeless body
It must continue to spin

The red blood cloak of the awakening  sunrise
Its coming golden rays shower the skies
With its radiant beauty
Whether blood courses or not
Eyes wide open or shut

The tide will go in and out
Poseidon's salty colored waves
Roll in wild reckless abandon
Foamy lace covered dancers

The lady moon sits high in the sky
I never question why
Simply accept she is there
Queen on her throne
With grace and royalties air

If I refuse to take breath
Or care not to rise from my bed
Emotions fragile and churning
My heart ceases to beat
In cold body
The world will not stop turning

The Plague
Tammy M Darby Sep 2013
I am a plague
There is no cure
Creeping into your body
I must be endured

Moving silently through the air
Spreading rapidly by touch
Crying child to mothers breast
It is death she will clutch

Claiming thousands of lives
Having no rhythmic selection
Class has no boundary
So random is my infection

Consuming high to low
My kiss of disease is feared
Rats and fleas sometimes my vehicle
Appearing when I will

So if my mark on man
Surface before your eyes
Flee rapidly without delay
Or you too surely will die

After I have had my fill of the living
I shall quickly disappear
Gracing humanity with my cloak of coldness
When least expected
I will be there

From Hell
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
I will call out your name
Evil smile on my face
No doors on earth to flee
In this small victory
I rejoice
The cost of your soul
Uncountable tears

Suffer the punishment
The letters of he who rose
In black book of desert lands
Clearly written
Its breakage foretold

Ten rules
These words denied
Forgotten
As children taught

Chapters of antiquity
Blown away
By winds of sand
Scattered
No longer sought

Decay of life
Paid for in coin
Constructs the path
For vengeance wrought

From hell
I will scream out your name
Our punishment
Equal
Sentenced
Be the same

Blood red description
In the Baptist religion
Hell fire
Forever more
Eternal damnation
Endure together
Final condemnation

This under world
Where no light shines
Ringing of the forbidden bell
You will join me
In tortuous fire
Awaiting
I summon you to hell

Predator of Souls
Tammy M Darby Feb 2014
Refusing to die
Struggled fiercely to walk away

I attempted ******
Trying the bury the evil energy
Wrapped in charms
In a burning grave

Still breathing
This defiler of death
Tongue of golden words
Falling on only those poor naive souls
Love desperate to be heard

Tender hearts strings strummed
Sweet songs to the listening ear
Promised safe harbor to stay
Intent on destroying the deceptive predator of souls
I banished the power of day

Besieging with it
With dark incantation
Magic dangerous spells
Disciplined eastern meditation

Calling the creature to me
Powerless
It could not resist
Wretched demon of time
I trapped the beast
In a witches pentagram
Sealed at each point
With chants of  forgotten ancient rhyme

Defenseless against me
A white sorceress
The monster was destroyed
Bound forever
Cursed by salt and fire
In hell to stay forever more

The Ghost in White
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
The rain announced itself during the night
Misty foggy and wet and light
Came floating across the moors
The ghost
In a tattered ragged dress of white

Wringing  hands
Under great duress
Crying to the heavens
Tears upon pale face

Deprived of her dear one
The longing soul could not survive
Body and heart bowed to death
In despair went her life

For over a hundred years
She has tread the moors
It is spoken of in the tales of yore
The ghost in ancient rags and lace

Wailing and moaning
An eerie melody
A touching mournful song
Observing her closely
The winds took pity
Accompanying with one of their own

Many times she has been seen
When lightening illuminates the dark skies
Searching for a love forlorn
The haunting ghost in white

She waits for her dear one
Who has yet to return
Solitary being
Perpetually yearn
Doomed to tread the earth alone

She will wander the dark
Continue her sad haunting
Perhaps you will get a glimpse
If you happen to be searching
For the ghost
In tattered lace and rags of white

As the sinewy flesh slowly frays and pulls apart
The final futile struggles of dying blood
The memories of evil acts
Torn from the dark
Flow in a torrent through leaky valves
A regretful flood

With every beat, beat, beat, of the heart
Demanding their just dues
The ghosts of your past cruelty
No longer in fear of you
Have at last come to call

You were told in written word long ago
There was a price for each red drop
And you shall pay each and every day for your hateful hands
Until your pitiful cold heart finally seizes and stops.

You starting counting the beats in your chest
One by one
Wishing in your mind there were more sunrises
There will be only the last setting of the sun

So with every thud, thud, thud,
Of your poor heart
With each labored breath
From the darkness closing on the mind
You pray on your knees and beg for just another day
Hoping to sate the gods with stolen gold
The fates refuse,
And turn away

Conversation with a Fish
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
I was fishing one day
On my line hopped a perch
I almost fell in the water
When he looked at me and spoke

Well fisherman you have caught me
Into the basket I am the first
Tonight in the pan I will fry
I could tell this fish was trying to gain sympathy
By bringing a tear to my eye

He suggested I try chicken
A succulent rabbit
Or even perhaps bologna
But of eating perch
He said this I should avoid
For they were far too thin and bony

So I took a closer look at
At the fat talking fish
Thought of the words he spoke
Threw him in the basket without a second thought
And put another worm on my hook

Toil and weariness
Invite you to sleep
Into your dreams
Come the hate you reap

The weak ones that could not defend themselves
Upon whom your touch
Drew blood and pain
The dark headed young one heart broken in two
Now dead and silent lay

So if you die
Before you wake
Your evil soul
I  shall surely take

Your judges were victims
Hearts that bled
Those whose lives you covered with tears
The sentence was passed without consideration of pity
To hell's caves for a thousand years

Does the true being of self to consciousness cling
Disappearing suddenly when reality so elusive sings
Pride covet words in anticipation of the ultimate ascension
Daring to imperil it all for ink and pen
Ignoring the warnings
A poets world rarely mentioned

We discard with little effort what imparts to us conventionality and vague interest
Desiring instead to reminisce on that which tortures and haunts us
It is by choice we reside freely and roam in unknown dimensions
Artists of our experiences
A poets world rarely mentioned

Many will condemn with ridicule and scorn
Those who exist in the universe of the word
As we climb the stairs to the dreamworld
Closed to those deficit in imagination
Only the ingenious may enter
Virtuosos of the mind and heart
A poets world rarely mentioned

The moon smiled on me sleeping
While my broken soul was weeping
Hidden in the dark
Sympathetic to my heart of pain
Shone down upon me gentle rays
Washing away  shadows
From a troubled mind

Light  from glorious heavens
Bathed a world lost in themselves
Blind to mystical healing beams
When left to slumber beautiful dreams
A gift she offers to all

The moon smiled down upon me sleeping
While my broken soul was weeping
Hidden in the dark

Call forth the gods of war
Tammy M Darby Sep 2019
Beat the drums of bold death
Call forth the gods of war
Offerings of fresh blood upon the altar of sacrifice
From still hearts that will beat no more

Summon the warriors of the sword, knife, and mace
The gladiators of Roman legends and lore
Beat loudly the man skin drums of death
Call forth the gods of war

The Hordes of Genghis Khan
On the sanguinary quest for the world
Cruel despots composed the Mongol core
Would beat the echoing drums of death's onslaught approaching
Call forth the gods of war

With solemn stone faces
Go the last soldiers of annihilation
Whose lives soon would bear consequence no more
Beat the drums of smiling death triumphant
Call forth the gods of war

An honor of sin
For which they gladly compete

The better the chair
Higher the worth
The larger the house
So richer the hearth

Liquid voices
Evil choices
Delighted with his subjects

When my mind is a cold cell
Graced by heaven
Possessed by hell

I can easily escape
I can certainly walk out
Still thoughts of madness
Laughing dance about

There are no iron bars
Not a single heavy chain
Trapped in my mind
Betrayals sly game

I whisper words that no one hears
Emotions cut me unending
Loves bitter tears

The days come and go
When my mind is a cold cell
Graced by heaven
Controlled by hell

So Fall the Drops
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
Drip
Drip
So fall the drops
The cut was made
By words and thought

Though plan to avenge my honor
Not a hand was raised
Just sentences in a line
Long ago hidden
Open on paper lay

Cruelty is one punishment
Intent is another
I will not turn one cheek
Or offer up the other

So summon up the judge
Let us review the facts
You have no credible alibi
To justify malicious acts

I will not delete my accusations
On legal record they stay
Not by glittering gift
Or offer of apology
Will my opinion sway

Drip
Drip
So fall the drops
The cut was made
With word and thoughts

You have chosen the hour
I shall choose the day
As the drops fall into a puddle
Dissolving the life away

I need a new heart
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
I have decided
I need a new heart
For the one in this body
Is falling apart
All these cuts and holes
Are just a bit too much
Where once the blood ran red
It now flows black

So if you please
I need a new heart
The contemporary model
Composed of plastic parts

Cold and unfeeling
To the **** sapiens plight
Having no human emotions
Fresh off the assembly line
I need a new heart

The House of Grief
Tammy M Darby Feb 2018
When asked where he dwell
He replied
In the house of grief.
My heart is broken and soul torn
Bound to a memory
A decaying corpse
That died gasping in my arms
Her name upon my trembling lips

As life left my beloveds body
Though now long placed in the ground
Those who know me mutter under their breath
They say she makes no sound
And I am insane

In the endless aching hours
And long watches of the night
A wraith appears before me
When the red tailed comet flies

The moon is on the wane
Reflected in the waters eye
In between the cold worlds
I listen for her cries

I asked gently with pity
Why is it must you stay
Until your mind can bear no more
  Forever and a day

He replied
By mans law she is dead
Her body in the ground
I watched them lovingly lay
In my insanity she lives
Curse them I care not what they say

So dead he was when it was they found him
It was as he swore
In the house of grief
He remained
Until the time came
She called his name no more

Love
Tammy M Darby May 2014
Treacherous word
My life has been tainted by this curse
Its cohorts of chaos
Caring, promises. affection.
Silk upon tender lips
A sweet confection

Recognition of this emotion
I steadfastly decline and deny
The heavy burden of memories
Poison of time
Love
I reject it as any intelligent mind would
Revile it as some pray they could
It is to be trapped in a web of sadness
No visible means of escape or hope

So banned it remains
My deepest wish forever lost
Un movable as a heavy stone
I desire a heart of ice
Reclusiveness is my fate
The terrible cost
The price

Scarlet Drapes
Tammy M Darby Mar 2014
I closed the scarlet drapes
Of my black and blue life
Cloaked carefully
Invisible
From prying eyes
Barred the stain glass windows
Of a wandering soul lost
The bitterness of promise
Upon thin red lips

Glancing back into the past
Coaxing bruised memories from my mind
Watching them slide from my hands
Tiny globes of affection’s pain
Micro drops of burning sand
Of sadness timeless solitary face
Lonely kiss of the fates
Was of my cold breath comprised

On the splintered altar
Love was with acceptance
Sacrificed
Trembling broken heart
Disappearing into the night
For eternity entombed was my desire
I closed the scarlet drapes of my life

Strong timbers began their transition into locust wood
While stones and mortar that were proud walls
Began their slow decay

No longer will it be the bond of a structure
Lacking in strength
Made weaker by passing days
So began the process of disrepair
Soon in a useless pile they would lay

The roof
Stolen shelter
Would now offer a passage
Providing entrance for tears of rain

And upon utterance of words by the dark silhouette
The heart of the dwelling pitted
Slowly collapsed in ruination
Once the harbor of a deep love
Now merely a rotted foundation

A Monster on the loose
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
There is a monster on the loose
My story of three he abused
One is lost
Two is dead
But three was smarter
Used her head

To torment this offender
Expose his violent past
So all would know what he spoke was lies
I will tell the truth at last

He is not truthful
He is not kind
Once attained what is desired
He does not give a ****

For women deep inside his soul
He bears a rotting hate
But he cannot be seen with out one
He has an image to maintain

So I say to this monster
Do not come around
Because your second victim
Waits for you in the ground

I can prove all I say with complete documentation
And more if I so chose
Just be careful when out at night
There is a monster on the loose

The Love of my heart
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
His kisses were that of a fine wine
The words he spoke
Washed away the pain of time
With nimble fingers mended the tear
That no one else realized was there

A glance from his eyes
Chased away my deepest fears
Gentle touch dried my flow of tears

His body rested
Peacefully next to mine
No one would part us
Heart and soul intertwined

Contented and peaceful
I was from the start
He is all that I require
The love of my heart

(Written for my love)

Poison
Tammy M Darby Mar 2014
May my tears be the poison you drink
Into the arms of darkness you shall sink
My souls sadness
Be the coat you wear
As the blood drips slowly
From my dying hearts tear

This curse I cast into the wind
Calling to he who cannot be seen
The emotion of mercy
Is beyond my reach
Love from your body
I shall glean

So my warm tears be the poison you drink
From you I will take all
An empty vessel
Pity I do not possess
Into hell your mind will fall

The Cold Breeze
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
I am the cold breeze
Come dancing through the trees
The chill makes you turn round
Straining for the  errie  sound
That jolts you into panic
Each time it appears
Guilt is its name

I am the ground
You tread upon
Day after day
Enduring
This I will tolerate
Not a word will I say
For I am very patient

The ray of sun revealing all
Shining warm on your face
Still you strive to hide the disgrace you bear
By secreting it in the dark place of your soul

The moon
My milky beams lay upon you
As you fly down the asphalt
Rising up from the road
My reflection
The sadness in my eyes is all you see
As you take your final ride
I am the cold breeze

It Will Come
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
Silent
On cursed feathered wings
From the hollows of the earth
Its arrival announced
By the ****** of the dark lord
How their voices ring
Songs of pain and tortured screams
The sharps and flats of insanity
Heard only by those
Soon to be companions
Destined to dwell
In the fiery depths of hell

It will come
Smile upon face
Demand you follow
Skeletal hand point the way
It is your destiny
You must obey
Down deaths burning hall
The blood barbed maze of sin
It will come

The Messenger of Death
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
I am the messenger of death
Of all bias I am bereft
My entrance you may not refuse
Child of heaven and hell fire
The chill of soul heralds my arrival
Composed I am of good and evil
Having all the strengths and weaknesses of man

The bringer
Of that which humans fear
What with courage must be met
Fleeting thoughts of panic
Hearts remembrance of happiness and regret

I appear unexpected
My company without hesitation
Is often rejected
Though you may try to allude me
In reality see  my dark face
Destiny you must now embrace

On dark wings I soar and fly
To claim you
Sit quietly by your side
Hear your soft cries
Last breath
I am the messenger of death
