a thin pencil line
of light was seen to the west
as day came to end
Go under water and breathe in.

2. Take your dinner knife and push it through your heart. Slowly.

3. Open up your skull, and fill it with bees. Dance around a bit to aggravate them.

4. Stare into the sun without blinking.

5. Stick your tongue to a stop sign pole when the temperature is below zero.

6. Walk across a fire pit. Hell, just stand still in the middle.

7. Run as fast as you can and hit the corner of your counter with your hip bones.

8. Bite on your lower lip until it bleeds.

9. Lie on the ground and have someone put rocks onto your chest.

10. Pour grits on the floor and kneel upon them. You'll bleed some, but that's okay.

10. Go outside during an autumn evening with a sweatshirt on. Do you feel that breeze?

9. Read the Bible and wonder why God didn't tell anyone to write a book solely about you.

8. Play with children.

7. Stay up late and watch your favorite shows under thick blankets and pillows.

6. Put up Christmas lights and turn off all the others and think of how happy you were in every Christmas you've ever had.

5. Go to your local ball park and catch a game.

4. Look at how the stars match the same constellations in your eyes.

3. Go camping and wake up early. Make sure you make hot chocolate and fried potatoes and wear a hoody the whole trip.

2. Read poetry and sit at the ocean.

1. Fall in love with yourself too.

My life is a joke
A terrible punch line.
But no ones listening
So I'll be fine

I'll keep telling it
Until someone cares
But until then,
No ones there

soul in torment
Even...

her heated temper

makes our love

all the

stronger
Steel is heated and tempered by a blacksmith to be shaped and strengthened

if I quote great “minds”
or utter a singular word
about my own
tell me to hide under a rock
shun me with silence
ignore my proclamations
throw stones at me
I will eat my insects
skitter through the cacti forests
without regard for trudging truth
or the liquid lies of the high born
I will dodge the thorns
let my blood boil in the searing sun
mate without wily wooing
I will be
other than thee,
a grit dirt dweller
a hisser, blissfully
unaware, I hope

a luscious dawn stirred, his arrow was on fire
he went in quest of delight, vigorous was his desire

among the ruffled sheets, a delicious fruit lay
flaxen hair ever so bright, fueled his amorous desire

the mercury rose in his veins, he kissed he hungrily
with an ardor of might, strongly expressing his desire

his feasting spree was unrestrained, her gems were so enticing
more comely than any twilight, he was a pyre of desire

at commencement of day, he partook of bonfire passion
engaging her in a flaming light, powerful were his coals of desire

I'm no good at writing poetry
so this flop shall find another hobby
words aren't where my talents lie
so I'm kissing the world of poetry goodbye

there will be no one missing my crap
they'll be pleased that I've turned off the tap
my writing desk shall be thrown out
for I'll not want it hanging about

my creative mind can take a long rest
as I'll no longer be at a stanza's behest
the writing game has lost it's appeal
crook poets like myself must get real

composition offerings shall cease to-day
as one is putting one's pick permanently away
the end has most assuredly turned up
it is time for me to finally pack up
