Morning’s fire streams through broken panes
Shadowed walls ignite
As darkness flees in fright.
Blackened bodies are quick to hide away;
Spreading like spiderwebs
Across her tarnished cheeks
They seep back into her tear ducts
To nest in the depths of her cerebrum.
Their daylight cavort in her psyche
Haunts her always
Each fresh daylight brings new torment
That hides behind her eyes
Crimson echoes of talons on her porcelain hips:
The only testimony of the demons’ night follies
